I normally don't write reviews, but I'm making an exception today. I came to this office for help with an eye issue. I was initially told it was an eye infection, then later told it was not. I was then told the issue may be psychological and related to stress, which felt dismissive. I also have a documented history of chronic dry eye, which did not seem to be meaningfully considered. I tried explaining that I wanted to go back on eye drops that had helped me in the past, but was told no because they could enter my bloodstream and was advised to see a cornea specialist instead. I was also told that my corneas were "perfect," which made that recommendation even more confusing. I asked again about restarting my eye drops, but she still said no. The conflicting information was frustrating, and I felt rushed and unheard throughout the visit. My current eye doctor got to the root of the problem, and I'm feeling so much better--like this office told me, they never once suggested it was all in my head. Overall, this was not a good experience
Sharing My Experience with Wyckoff Ophthalmology (Wyckoff, NJ)
I don't normally post complaints--I'm a big supporter of local businesses--but I feel like I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't share what happened to me at Wyckoff Ophthalmology (350 Wyckoff Ave).
I had an appointment with Dr. Sinatra (the owner), who told me their office was a "tier one" insurance provider. Later, I found out they were actually a "tier two" plan. That might sound small, but it felt misleading--especially considering what happened next.
Dr. Sinatra diagnosed me with a staph infection in my eye and prescribed a strong antibiotic (doxycycline) to be taken for a full month. It didn't sit right with me, so I went to Eyes On Ramsey for a second opinion. The doctor there was amazing--super professional and thorough--and told me I didn't need antibiotics at all, just a simple steroid drop for one week. Total relief.
But here's the kicker: a YEAR later, I was billed an additional $1,000 for simply removing an eyelash or makeup brush bristle from my upper eyelid. Something I honestly could've done myself by just wiping my eye. I was shocked. It felt like they were taking advantage--and why wait a full year to send that kind of bill?
Long story short:
* Misrepresented their insurance tier
* Prescribed unnecessary and strong medication
* Charged an outrageous fee for wiping a small piece of debris from my eye and called it a "medical procedure"
Please do your research and don't be afraid to get a second opinion. We all deserve honest, competent care--without surprise bills or scare tactics.
If you are in need of an emergency with a child and for some reason you have issues finding a pediatric ophthalmology try to avoid this place. If you can't be considerate for a child's well being do not say you are a family friendly doctor because when I went there I had to literally wait 4 hours to be seen with an appointment.
My young son had to be seen for something that was surgery prone, emergency type situation. Dr Sinattra was sure that it could be taken care of and did all the prechecks which was a waste of time bc she also seemed unsure of following up with the procedure which I think was a bit unprofessional bc if you weren't sure of your own skills to deal with a toddler why make it seem like you would. They finally made an appointment within 2 months for a small surgery "if the child stood still" and 2 days before the surgery she cancelled the procedure and referred us to a different ophthalmology office which didn't even take my state health insurance. Im glad I was able to find a different excellent doctor which took care of my son.
The staff was very confusing and chaotic.
Dr. Sinatra was so rushed she was in and out of my appointment, and did not give me the opportunity to ask questions until I persisted.
I had a scheduled follow-up appointment with the Optometrist, waited 1 hour and never got to see her. So I finally decided to leave.
It took 4 phone calls to get the staff to forward my medical records to my new Opthamologist.

My experience at Wyckoff Ophthalmology was amazing. Dr. Sinatra is not only an excellent surgeon, she is kind, compassionate, and caring. There is excellent customer service and everyone on the staff were so nice and warm. I highly recommend that people go to Wyckoff Ophthalmology if they ever have eye problems.
Dr. Sinatra did an Amazing Operation on my 98-year-old mother's cataract surgery. She has 20/30 Vision now. We couldn't be more pleased with her skill as well as the kind,,caring people in her office.
Dissatisfied with the wait and professionalism. Appt was at 3:45 for my two year old. I understand there can be a wait. But it was 45+ wait that they did not initially tell me when I arrived. It boggles my mind to think they expect a two year old to sit for that long before even being seen to then Expect to sit for a two hour procedure. The parking lot is also extremely tight and not accommodating for all visitors. Do not recommend them.
I went with my husband for the first time and it was excellent! They do thorough eye exams. I can't wait to get my new glasses they also detected some eye problems we weren't aware of. I highly recommend them!!
