Jane Compton, OD LLC

I've been a patient of Jane Compton since I was a teen & she has always been amazing. Shes always friendly, kind & listens to any concerns I have with my eyes. Her staff has changed throughout the years, which their customers service has been hit or miss in the past but today the ladies were very friendly and wonderful.

Went in for a simple glasses nose bumper replacement and walked out with terrible scratched lens, Front desk, Oblivious to any fault. Really pissed bc that was my only pair

We went to Jane because she was one of the closest that took VSP- my wife has lost her vision in one eye and is concerned about losing it in the other. She has gone to specialists in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and Jane is the only one who really explained what to look for during her test. Also, one of her assistants, Hannah, provided amazing customer service!

Wonderful place and people! We were visiting from out of town and my eyeglasses fell apart! They took the time to find the exact screw size, and replaced the screw free of charge. No questions asked.

Upon making appointment for eye exam I was asked if I had my Covid Vaccines I stated no and was requested to wear a mask upon arrival. When I arrived they had me wear mask during eye exam which was causing lenses in exam machine to fog constantly the doctor kept having to wipe and seem like getting irritated with how many times had to wipe lenses because I couldn't see properly I tried holding breath to prevent fogage but I said I'm not sure if its fog or blurry vision. She assured me I was doing well and to continue test. I was given prescription finally and they didn't have frames I wanted so I ordered from another place I spent over 400 on frames and lenses. When i got my glasses the prescription is not correct I can't see well with what they claimed was my prescription based on this awfull test. I called to notify Jane Comptons office left message no reply. Called again after days and they just shrugged me off saying for additional 25.00 I can do a re exam Wow . So I called my inshurance to let them know what happened and they are filing a Grievance. They couldn't believe that now in 2025 Jane was requesting masks especially during a eye exam of course it's going to fog up test. Worst part is person at desk couldn't see how this was doctors fault and could care less. Just me wanted me to go another test to get more money they seem to see us as cash and not patients it truly is disappointing and sad.

I'd been seeing Jane for as long as a resident of Taos, NM At that time and for too much longer she would be considered yhr only game in town so to speak. Personally, I've come to honestly believe that Jane had and staff have become less professional, prone to concerning themselves with the mighty dollar. The care of which Jane was famous for has dissipated, her manner is anxious and rude.

I needed an emergency set of lenses while my prescription was being shipped. They gave me the WRONG prescription that gave me a headache and charged me $25 for the lenses which they admitted they usually comp. They also used a years worth of my insurance coverage ($150) to give me $20 worth of contact lenses... a six month supply. When I mentioned that the 2 boxes of lenses go for $10 each online, they explained that they had to pay for shipping... so I guess shipping costs $130. Also, the optometrist got super tense after asking me if I had been vaccinated and I asked her why that was relevant. It's 2024. There is obviously an abusive pecking order of angry older woman here. The young people on the staff seemed uncomfortable and dominated. I would strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere.
