Dr. Duffy was obviously in a big hurry and gave me a quick, imprecise and inaccurate eye exam I got another one elsewhere and they corrected his mistake. And I still have a bill. Definitely not going back.

My husband and I recently went to Albany Office for our annual routine eye exams. I've been a patient of this practice for many years and our insurance always fully paid for this visit. This year, to our surprise, our routine visit was up coded to a medical exam rather than a routine visit and, thus, we are being charged out of pocket fees which our insurance won't cover. Why is a routine exam now considered a medical exam? Nothing was done any differently from prior years I should mention. The billing office was not helpful in answering this question so we can only surmise it is a money grab. There are some wonderful doctors in this practice including Dr. Rabady and Dr. Stasior but we will no longer go to a practice where upcoding seems to be the standard.
