Cohen's Fashion Optical

I hadn't been to a Cohens Optical for some time. I visited the location in Bay Terrace and had a great experience. The exam was very thorough, and quick. The person helping me behind the counter was very knowledgeable, extremely helpful and kind. I got a very good deal on glasses and Contacts. Glad I came back to Cohens. Highly recommend visiting.

*Everyone was super helpful at this store. Many options available for frames and lenses. The doctor that did my eye exam was thorough, took her time and was friendly. *I felt some attitude/ judgement when I was not sure about my insurance and keeping my old frames. There was confusion for the pricing of the frames at the end, which got sorted. The person that helped me fit my frames was not nice.

This has been the worst experience ever. First of all the woman at the counter was having a meltdown because of the amount of work the insurance gave her. Didn't she get the memo on customer is paying insurance and insurance helps maintain small independently own businesses. Every other question I asked was like I was bothering her. I wanted reading glasses just because lens might be better quality than pharmacy ones and you are charging my insurance. Then to make matters freaking worst they didn't measure what size of reading lens I needed. They just put 2.25!!!!!! I'm going from 1.50 to magnifying glasses. When I dare to ask what is my measurement more attitude and condescending behavior cane my way. I still kept my composure and mentioned I work 12 hrs a day for 3 days in front of a computer 2 25 is too much. Oh my I was received more comments like why didn't you mention that to the ophthalmologist I said I did say I work in front of a computer 12 hrs but since she was also complaining about too many customers didn't even bother to listen to the patients needs. Did I mention I wanted other frames other than the ones my insurance covered and I ask how much and wasn't getting an answer because conveniently the frames were 100 dollars more than my 100 dollar insurance allowance. So when I asked how much my insurance covered I had to pay almost 300 dollars for reading glasses. I cheard standard anti-glare was covered. 100 blue light 33 anti-glare 100 frames + plus my 100 allowance. Scratch protection I don't even think it was added. I said no I'm going with what I don't have to pay one cent. I could have given them the business if they would have personnel that would treat a customer properly not like I'm doing them a favor.

Soraya and Alexis made my experience at Bayside Cohen's Fashion Optical be exceptional. They took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure I left with just the right pair of glasses. I highly recommend this location for their excellent service!

My union had recently changed eye care plans so I wasn't sure of the benefits I had. After the person behind the desk looked up she neglected to tell me that as long as I get a certain brand contact, the fitting and the a 6 month supply would be free. Instead they told me nothing and charged me for the fitting and tried to push a years worth of contacts on me for $1000+ for the year. I found out after that I wasn't supposed to be charged for the fitting or a 6 month supply. Now they won't refund me the $50 I paid for the fitting, a fitting for a contact I never should have gotten fitted for, and they want to give me store credit for the additional $25 for contacts that I'm not receiving. And after asking them to order the correct contact lenses I had to listen to the reasons why the ones they were trying to give me were "better" instead of just doing what I asked. Avoid this place at all costs, they don't care about what you want and only want to make a sale.

Very friendly helpful staff, our helper staff Cara, showed us the different options we had, which we really appreciate. Dr Booros was just awesome, appreciate his patience. Keep up the amazing service you guys offered! Thank you!

This establishment is an absolute rip-off! I am a UFT member, and they immediately pushed me toward the cheapest frames, claiming they were "covered" by insurance. When I asked for help choosing a pair that actually suited me, the staff just stood there blankly, as if I had asked them to do something outside their limited job description. Once I finally chose a frame, the sales rep quoted me $675. When I asked where my $250 coverage was being deducted, she told me it wasn't because "the frames are covered under your insurance." Excuse me? That means they were essentially trying to pocket the $250. Not only was the staff rude, unprofessional, and completely clueless about how to properly apply insurance benefits, but it felt like a blatant scam. Thankfully, I went to EYES ON BELL, where the customer service was impeccable. I was helped with care, found beautiful frames which included thin lenses, glare-free and scratch-resistant lenses, and only paid $250 out of pocket exactly as my insurance allows. Cohen's Optical in Bayside are nothing short of thieves.
