I came there for him to fix the a piece on my glasses that sits on the nose. And he told me that my glasses was too wide that he had fixed it to fit my face. I said okay. You still have to fix the cushion for my nose. He came back for the second time to say something else was wrong with my glasses. And I told him I understand that is too wide. He said no there's a split in my glasses. I couldn't see that. So he went again and came back within seconds my glasses was broken. He didn't even try to substitute for another pair. I was very upset and I told him I need my glasses for work the next day. When I left I'm out there I was very devastated and I cried. They didn't even try to help me at all.
I wish I could give them 0 stars... I thought I could give this place a second chance to replace my nose pads since they have a bad rep in the neighborhood. The reason for the second chance was because years ago I was looking for work and they turned me down. They said they wanted a bilingual sales clerk and could not hire me because I was not bilingual.
So fast forward to today March 25, 2024 and I told my dad I needed new nose pads as mine were starting to wear out. My dad said he used them to fix his nose bridge and said he had no problems; boy was I wrong.
They took my glasses in and the owner had his worker take them to the back. What usually takes two seconds to a minute to change out was heading in to 5 mins... I asked the owner why is it taking so long.
When the owner came out he had a cloth around them and my glasses came out they covered in a flim and had scratches. When I voiced my concerns the owner Then took the rag out of his pocket to clean them revealing a long scratch by the nose bridge by the screw on my glasses. I said you scratched my glasses and his reply was "No that is from you."
Nope.. I could not get a scratch there if I tried as they have a special coating on them and are made for my Dyslexia. Plus you only have to run them under water to clean them and he used a cleaner that caused spots. That "scratch" he claims is from his clerk today March 25, 2024 "after" I paid $10.00 dollars cash to have the nose pad replace. You have to fit an eyeglass screwdriver in there to cause a scratch like that.
I have never in all the places (and years) I go to have my glasses fixed had this happen...
I now have to call my eye doctor for an appointment due to how these are a tool for my vision and Dyslexia. I was hoping people were wrong and they had changed, but clearly they have not.
Rating them would be too nice. The receptionist was pleasant but the actual infrastructure of this place is to be desired. Very unprofessional processes, as they asked me to call sometime "this week or next to see if my TRIAL lenses arrive". When I mentioned that I am the customer, and it makes more sense for YOU ALL (Cohen's Optical) to call, they said "Either, or"
NEVER AGAIN
In 2013 and also years earlier I bought glasses at that store. My eye exam was done by a lady whose last name is uncommon, a little long, and probably German or Jewish. Both times she made the best eye exams I had ever had. She had a case with lenses and she had to do everything manually. I have very high prescription and different on each eye. Does she still work at that location? Thank you.
if I could rate this place a zero I would , the staff are completely unprofessional , the office itself is dirty and unorganized, the specialist seems to have a drooling problem ! I wanted to get my lenses thinner and was charged a ridiculous amount only to find i could get cheaper else where , In the end to be ripped off, to tell me my 200 was placed in credit with them. it was bad enough their unprofessionalism caused me to leave but i had to also loose my money! i have always had great experience's with Cohens in the past, but this EXACT place is absolute trash! especially the manager....
They have been very helpful and stand behind their products. I have had a problem with one pair, and they've replaced it at no charge, and now have fixed one of the arms again as part of their guaranty. I also had my eye exam which was one of the best.
My prescription and glasses were done perfectly.
I'm not one to review places, but I think it's important to share this. As I was getting my eye exam, the male examiner was shining the light into my eyes. It would've been fine, but for some reason he got AWFULLY close to my face with his face. I mean, centimeters apart, if he turned to face me his mouth would've been on me. I've NEVER in my YEARS of eye exams had someone do this. It felt extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. I won't be going back here.
My mother and I had unpleasant visit when dealing with one of your staff members. Particularly the Dominican lady with black hair and the under eye eyeliner. She realized my mother and I spoke Spanish but our last name wasn't Latino. Out of curiosity, she questioned our background and the difference in our last name. Upon learning that it was my mother's married name, she then asked a VERY stereotypical rude question about my father's background. She then said because I am the daughter, I was more of one background than the other. That was ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR and had nothing at all to do with helping my mother pick out glasses. This staff member should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY! What an absolutely ignorant way of dealing with customers. How would she like it if I were to ask her rude, stereotypical questions about her Dominican heritage? Because of her, we will never come back to your store and I will definitely pass along the message to other people looking for an eyeglasses store never to come here!
