I appreciate that the doctor offers his services on ZocDoc, which is how I found this optometrist. Additionally, any doctor that checks ones eyes in the establishment are equally as qualified. I come here frequently and am thankful for this business. They have always been transparent and always looked to work with me on my eye matters. From glasses to contacts, the full staff are helpful and willing to answer any questions in depth. Thank you all for what you do! Providing vision to The Bronx

The following is my experience with I and Eye Optometry: 1) I went in for an exam and new glasses in June 2025. 2) Waited 3 months for my glasses. 3) During the 3 months waiting, I called their office 16 times. 4) Although I called 16 times during their hours of operation, the phone either just rang and was never answered, or rang a few times and was disconnected. 5) I went in person twice (during their listed hours of operation) and they were closed. 6) Finally, in September of 2025, I went in and they were actually open. 7) The prescription for my glasses was incorrect, and they accidentally made them bifocal. 8) I was told by Melanie they would be corrected within a couple of weeks but never heard back from them. 9) Beginning in October, I called them 12 times (during their hours of operation) and (once again) the phone either rang and was never answered or rang a few times and was disconnected. 10) I was able to finally leave a message on their voice mail. No one ever called me back. 11) It is now November 3rd, 2025, and I still do not have my corrected glasses, nor have I heard from the establishment. 12) The hours of operation listed on their website do not match the hours of operation stated on their voice mail. 13) I plan to file a complaint with my insurance company and with the Department of Health. Best spot in the bx went to get my eyes checked brought my owned frames also but they also have nice looking frames also to the people in the front excellent job they do they don't have you wait like other spots they greet you right on the spot will be coming back to get a back up pair of glasses see you soon

It's ridiculous that I have to wait an entire month to get my glasses.......... I went in for an appointment on 10/4, was told I would get them in 2 weeks. 2 weeks went by I called and they said they're not ready, not to mention when I called they said I never had the appointment and I was not there even though I clearly was. Then they said give it about another week and that they are dealing with delays due to them opening up another location in BK. But what I cannot seem to put together is what does opening another location have to do with getting the glasses sent over to put the prescription on and have them sent back. I can understand that if there's a delay that's just what it is and I cannot do much about it and neither can the people working here, but the least they could've done was say that there may be a delay. I am quite dissatisfied, for now November is almost over and I have yet to get my glasses, more than a month now. Not even going to lie, once I get them, I do not think I'll go back to this place ever again. To make matters worst.. I called yesterday on 11/17 and the front desk person tells me that they sent the glasses to the wrong location....... LIKE HOW???

I wish I could've give less than one star. The most incompetent place ever. I went in cause I couldn't see small print. They gave me a prescription for distance when my distance is perfect. Clueless from the front office to examiner. They also took 4 weeks to get my wrong glasses made and they also got my wife's prescription completely wrong it's been 2 months and she still waiting on her new glasses. Buyer beware there's so many other options go anywhere else.

Dr. Akano is an amazing eye doctor! He's very knowledgeable, patient, and takes the time to explain everything clearly. The exam was thorough, and I felt well cared for from start to finish. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality eye care!

I visited the Bronx location for a diabetic eye exam. I was seen by another optometrist. My appointment was on September 5,2025 and I requested a referral for a retina specialist. I am still waiting for my referral. I called and went in person. They assured me that they would email the referral and still nothing. The workers give you the run around and are incompetent. I am disgusted to deal with the staff, including the doctors, and i will not be returning. They lost my business.

October 2024: Service and staff were very helpful and professional. The optometrist was very kind and very knowledgeable. Would not hesitate to recommend or go back. I gave a review on Yelp too. November 13,2025: Today visited Dr. Obinna Akano , Optometrist, , for yearly eye exam. I was very satisfied with eye exam and service provided boy Dr. Obinna Akano , Optometrist, made sure I was satisfied with eye exam and answered all my questions I had about my eyes. His assistant was also very kind and professional as well. I like to say they have state of the art machines to perform glaucoma, pressure and cataract machine test for one's eyes. The staff in general were very helpful. .
