Very Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Atlantic Optical in Brooklyn. I literally just got off the phone with a young woman who was unnecessarily rude and hostile when I asked a simple question regarding my son's prescription.
I was calling on behalf of my son because he told me the office refused to provide him with a copy of his prescription. Instead of calmly explaining the policy or helping in any way, the staff member I spoke with had a very poor attitude and spoke to me in a dismissive and aggressive manner. I was honestly taken aback by how unpleasant the interaction was.
I live in New Jersey and am not accustomed to being treated this way, especially when I was simply advocating for my child and asking a straightforward question. There is no excuse for that level of unprofessionalism in a healthcare-related business.
Customer service matters, and this experience fell far below acceptable standards. I would not recommend this office based on how I was treated.
My 1st. Visit with Dr. Sarantakos was a wonderful experience. She was attentive to my needs, explained step by step every test. A very relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend Atlantic Optical to anyone
Always good coming here its like Cheers you want to go where everybody knows your name ! The ladies are amazing ! & my favorite part is Keisha she a movie
I had a wonderful experience with the receptionist and the optometrist was pleasant. I would recommend them to friends and family.
I regret I went to this place. The doctor who examined me was nice and prescription was on point. Staff were nice also. However, the eyeglasses I ordered did not fit the visual field wherein I have to lift the glasses to be able to read. The manager said I need to pay more to change the lenses from standard to advanced. She also insisted I should take the glasses home and get used to it! Get used to lifting the glasses while reading?!? What the heck! She gave me options: either to pay more to change the lenses or get used to it. At the price point that's too expensive, I should get a perfect fit. I never had a problem before with other optical shops, wearing glasses for 6 years now and this is the very first time I had problem with the glasses. Very disappointing!
Near the beginning of this month, I went with my daughter to get new glasses for our new prescription. I needed both reading and distance glasses while she needed everyday glasses. Before this visit we visited some day before and back then they didn't seem all too interested in making a sale. I should've trusted my gut and not gone with them, but my daughter convinced me to try their services.
On this second visit, they treated us well and helped us make our order. In a little bit more than a week, our glasses were ready to pick up, so we went and tried them.
Now the rest is all my experience. My set of glasses seemed off. At first I thought that I just wasn't used to them so I was convinced by the person helping me to try them for a week to get adjusted and that I could come back for help if I hadn't. Spoiler, I was never able to adjust to them. In fact, my vision got worse with them. Back then, I shouldn't have left with the glasses because when I came back after speaking to my doctors, the staff's attitudes were quick to change.
My doctor told me that my prescription changed in a short amount of time due to some medical reasoning. I was able to get a letter from them to show to the people here in hopes of getting the lens replaced. I went the same day, but before I arrived I was on the phone with them. In that phone call, they kept putting me on hold, dismissing me and saying that they were too busy attending patients attend to me. I told them i was a patient, too. However when I arrived the place was not busy at all. When I went inside, only two ladies were busy, and the other one didn't want to attend me. When speaking with them, they were quick to dismiss me and the letter I had brought. Even when speaking on the phone to my doctor they were rude, making faces and dismissing and not even attending to the phone call from her as if she was some sort of idiot that didn't know what she was doing or saying. I go to a very credible eye specialist center for my eye exams, so this isn't the case.
Finally, out of all the optical places I have visited, this was the only place that told me their purchasing policy AFTER I had purchased. I've called all my previous places optical, and ALL other places have a month-long warranty that if something is wrong with the lenses, they will be replaced free of charge. This place does not, and refuses to accept that lens companies have this policy. Some places I have called that told me of this are: 5th Ave vision center, Milan optical, Hamilton plaza, Brooklyn eye center.
Overall, this has been a horrible experience. I've spent so much on glasses so I can see, just to not be able to and be treated like trash by the people who attended me.
I visited them over the summer, and my experience was wonderful. Dr. Colman was very experienced and excellent in his care. The team was warm, welcoming, and very professional, providing outstanding customer service. There was an issue with my glasses, but they worked diligently to resolve it, and the outcome was fantastic. Their eyewear selection caters to a variety of budgets, and the team does an outstanding job helping you find a frame that fits both your face and your budget. I will definitely be returning!
Very Professional Service. I already referred my Children. The optometrist has great experience. The prices for glasses is affordable. They also test for DMV.
