I ordered a pair of Ray-Ban glasses and paid extra for express shipping because I needed them by a specific date. When the glasses arrived, they were scratched and clearly not in new condition.
I contacted customer service immediately and requested a replacement. I was told they would not send a new pair until they received the damaged pair back -- which defeats the purpose of paying for express shipping and leaves me without the glasses when I needed them.
I then requested a return label so I could return the damaged item for a full refund since they were no longer useful to me. Since that message, I have not received any response at all.
Between receiving damaged merchandise, paying extra for expedited shipping, being delayed by a return-first replacement policy, and now being ignored entirely, this experience has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.
Although the shipping was very timely and the item was packaged well, the left and right frame are totally different. The left frame is tortoise shell and the right is almost a solid brown. One can expect some variations in the tortoise shell, but these are unacceptable. I tried them on and they're embarrassing. The pattern on these frames are totally different from what I've seen on the shelf. I was excited to get them, but I'm very disappointed with what I've received.
I received defective frames from this seller (cost over $300). Provided support phone number directs customers to use email instead. I sent multiple emails over the course of a week with photo evidence, also submitted a return request form on the website, but received no response for over 1 week. I strongly recommend staying away from this seller.
I ordered a pair of sunglasses. On their site this was the description. "Costa Del Mar Tybee 2003 Sunglasses - 200302 - Clear - Blue Mirror 580g / 52."
Ultimately the product appears to be real and the quality you would expect from Costa. The site customer service is poor. The site may not have the best descriptions. I would suggest checking the manufacturer site for the product description for any product on their site. You may not get what you think you are getting, and they may not be a wat to resolve anything with this company.
What I received is light gray. I communicated with the site to let them know the description was incorrect. I considered keeping the sunglasses. Then decided it wasn't what I was looking for.
Unfortunately I was specifically looking for clear frames. If I had known they were light gray I would not have ordered them.
I am attaching an image of the sunglasses and package they arrived in. It just isn't what I was wanting. They approved the return within a day or two and said they would deduct $9.95 from the refund for the return shipping.
I replied and asked why I am paying to return something that was not properly described on their site. They didn't respond. A coupler days later I sent a follow up message also asking why I have to pay for the return when it was not described accurately on their site. I sent images with both emails. They will not reply.
The site does have a phone number. If you call it, the message says they are too busy to take calls and communicate through email, This is not the exact wording of the message.
In the email about approving the return this is their message regarding the cost to return.
"Using the Attached Return Label:
We've included a prepaid shipping label for your convenience. Please note that a $9.95 fee will be deducted from your refund when this label is used.
Not Using the Return Label:
If you prefer to use your own shipping method, please include your order number with your return to ensure accurate processing. Please be advised that a fee of $5 will be deducted for shipping and handling."
If I pay for shipping myself I still have to pay $5 on top of my cost for shipping. Now I am returning it and will lose $9.95.


Right now I'm giving this company a 1 star because the sunglass clip I got sent was manufactured too narrow to properly clip onto the metal studs on my frame. The rep I spoke to tried to blame me for ordering the wrong clip even though I explained to him that I checked my frame and ordered the appropriate clip for that frame based on the model number. Anyway, I'm going to open a ticket with Designer Optics and see how good (or not) their customer service is.
I've had nothing but excellent experience working with Designer Optics. My order was handled professionally and in a timely manner. What I appreciated most was the ongoing updates and communication with customer service.
Despite backorder, then discontinuation of the frames I ordered, I was successfully able to substitute another frame with delivery in record time. Both frames are perfect. Thank you.
The sunglasses were name brand and a good deal, but their communication/stated availability is an issue. My order was supposed to be delivered after 7-10 business days. After 6 business days without receiving a shipping notification, I reached out to ask about the delay. I was notified by support that my sunglasses were out of stock, but not to fret, they'd ordered them from the manufacturer with no delivery estimate. Nothing on the website indicated they were out of stock and I received no communication that they were going to miss their delivery window. I needed the glasses for a trip, and they couldn't guarantee I'd receive them for it. Ultimately, I canceled the order, which they did without hassle and returned the money promptly (which is why they earned back one star)... But I would not order from this vendor if you value promptness, transparent ordering or communication.
My frames came earlier than expected and they were top notch! I also received a certificate of authenticity! I already took them to the optical to get my lenses and Im excited to wear them! I love the service, the product and the price!! Will definitely shop here again! This was my 1st experience. Photos to come when I get the frames back!
