The most rude assistants I've ever met in my life. If you don't want to work in ophthalmology then go work at McDonalds. Their attitudes are horrendous and they told me to get up out of my chair several times, just to seat somebody else waiting for the same exam as me. I've been going here for years and the assistants always have the same filthy attitude. Someone needs to put their assistants in check.
I have been seeing Dr. Sleem since 2016 and my visits are always great. The first time I came I had accidental back splash of chlorine in my eye and Dr Sleem and his staff took excellent care of me same day emergency and after hours follow up.
Years later I was experiencing twitching in one of my eyelids (due to stress and fatigue) and again Dr Sleem and his staff took me in right away for treatment as well as followed up with me to make sure I was doing well. Truly professional Doctor highly recommend.
Office staff and front desk always professional courteous and efficient keep up the great work
This doctor is great, and my whole family loves him. However, his staff is horrible -- they are rude, unprofessional, unaware. Even their Arabic is unclear and inaccurate. One of them translated my mom's surgery instructions completely wrong, and thankfully I called the doctor myself to confirm the correct information. He used to have professional and kind staff about 3 years ago, but apparently she left, and now this great doctor has to deal with these incompetent employees. I hope he can find better staff soon, because it's sad to see this situation.
Dr Abraham Sleem is an exceptional surgeon! Last week, I had cataract surgery without any problems. For four months, I couldn't see from my right eye because I had a very dense cataract. I am fortunate to have found him. He is a surgeon who cares about his patients, is very detailed oriented, and very kind. He clearly explained everything before the surgery and the follow up visits have been extremely helpful in my healing and for my vision. He was very kind during the operation. I was well cared for by him and the nurses. I had a great experience and I didn't feel pain after the surgery. Now I can see and I am very grateful for his precise work. He is truly both a very kind person at heart and an exceptional surgeon. God bless him. I am very happy now and thankful.
I brought my mother to see Dr. Sleem back in 2022, and we had a truly great experience. Dr. Sleem is a kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate doctor who genuinely cares about his patients. At that time, there was a young woman translating Arabic who was absolutely wonderful--she was respectful, professional, and incredibly skilled at what she did. She made the entire visit comfortable for both my mom and me, switching between dialects with ease and always treating us with kindness.
However, when I returned last week, the experience was very different. The new Arabic translator was unfortunately unprofessional and unprepared. She struggled with basic translations and clearly did not understand medical terminology, which made communication very difficult. Even worse, she had a visible stain on her shirt and an unpleasant body odor--which was extremely off-putting, especially in a medical setting. My mother, who has a weak sense of smell, even commented on it. It came across as careless and unhygienic, something that should never happen in a clinic.
Honestly, the previous translator from 2022 was a huge asset to this office. She raised the standard of care, and it's disappointing to see how much the quality has dropped. As one patient in the waiting room said to me, "They fix eyes and ruin noses," because of the bad odor. We all felt the same, but many patients stay silent simply because they deeply respect Dr. Sleem, as we do.
I hope the clinic seriously considers hiring professional, hygienic, and competent staff again--especially someone with the same level of professionalism as the previous translator. Until then, this place has unfortunately lost a lot of its value in my eyes.
Best eye doctor in Brooklyn. His warmth and honesty when giving his patients the best options for treatment is unbelievable for modern day Healthcare!
This was NOT a good experience. I was there for two hours and with the doctor or tech for maybe 20 minutes all together. Everyone was so nasty at the front desk- they barely even say hi. The tech clearly had no idea what keratoconus is and kept being surprised at how much I couldn't see... it's an eye doctor- surprise I have eye problems. She was yelling at me to keep my eyes open for the eye pressure even though I told her how much pain I was in and I was crying. Then after she yelled she asked me if I was okay. What? Then, the whole reason I made this appointment was for a crosslinking consultation and I had asked over the phone about insurance. Come to find out that information was incorrect. Insurance is covered for the visit and that's pretty much it, and they don't take any insurance for contacts which wasn't told to me over the phone either. The doctor was okay for the most part but I took my topography images and will be going somewhere else. This is my eyesight, it is painful and serious and deserve at the very least some respect for my time.
Dr Sleem performed lasik corrective vision surgery for me. Everything went great. I can finally see 20/20 vision after decades of really bad eye sight. Dr. Sleem was very patient, professional, and explained my options and risks thoroughly. His staff were all really helpful and kind as well.
