Greenpoint Eye Care, LLC - Dr. Michael Kiselow + Optical Boutique

DO NOT GO to Dr. Michael Kiselow. Worst doctor experience in 30 years. I came in for an urgent eye issue. Dr. Kiselow didn't introduce himself, ask about my medical history, or explain my condition. He examined me for under 1 minute, diagnosed an ulcer, and immediately performed a $2,500 procedure WITHOUT explaining costs, wearing gloves, or using proper sanitary measures for an eye infection. My regular eye doctor later confirmed this expensive procedure wasn't medically necessary and shouldn't have been done until the infection healed. Under his care, I didn't recover. I got worse. He told me to return "whenever" despite ulcers requiring daily follow-ups. Completely incompetent care. The billing is also a scam. They charged me a $50 copay my insurance doesn't require. They billed my insurance $2,500 and claimed they sent me a balance. I ASKED FOR INVOICES MULTIPLE TIMES, WHICH THEY REFUSED. Then they SENT ME TO DEBT COLLECTIONS WITHOUT WARNING for bills I never received. They're clearly trying to scare patients into paying without any paperwork trail. Greenpoint Eye Care provides abrupt, unsanitary, dangerously rushed care combined with predatory billing practices. There are many excellent eye doctors in Greenpoint, PLEASE go to any of them instead. This practice should be investigated for malpractice.

Amazing fast and professional service in a beautiful clean office.. Was greeted so nicely by the lovely people working here. Dr. Michael Kiselow is great. Will be recommending to my friends and family!

My husband has now had 5 confirmed appointments at this office and has not been seen a single time. Every appointment was confirmed in advance, and yet almost all of them were canceled just a couple of hours before. On 08/18/2025 at 3:00 PM he had a confirmed appointment that was canceled the same day. On 08/25/2025 at 2:30 PM the exact same thing happened. On 09/02/2025, he had an appointment written on our calendar and confirmed, took the day off work, and when he arrived the receptionist told him it was actually for 09/22/2025 at 3:30 PM -- which is absolutely not true, because we had it saved correctly. Then on 09/22/2025, they did it again -- called just hours before to say the doctor was leaving early and he would not be able to be seen. To make it worse, the staff even suggested that my husband should "take a day off work" to make the appointment. Each of these times, my husband either left work early or missed an entire day of work, and since he is not paid when he doesn't work, this has cost him lost wages on five separate occasions. Not only has this office wasted his time, but they have also directly caused financial loss and frustration without ever providing the medical care he was scheduled for. The doctor genuinely seems like a nice person, but the way these appointments are handled is very, very unprofessional. I don't know if the cancellations are coming from him or from the staff, but either way it reflects poorly on the practice. Patients deserve respect for their time and their livelihoods. Canceling appointments hours before, confusing dates, and refusing to let patients speak directly with the doctor is not how any medical practice should be run.

My mother had a very frustrating experience at Greenpoint Eye Care, LLC - Dr. Michael Kiselow + Optical Boutique. She provided her insurance information, but they told her that in order for her insurance to be accepted, she would have to get her frames from their store which is NOT TRUE. She decided to pay cash for her eye exam and specifically told them NOT to run her insurance. A week later, she went to another eye doctor with her new prescription and tried to use her insurance for new frames, only to find out that her insurance had already been used by Greenpoint Eye Care on the date of her visit. She was then told she'd have to wait a whole year before she could use her benefits again. We went back to Greenpoint Eye Care, and they quickly tried to "revert" the claim, saying it would be fixed. But when we checked again at the second office, the issue still wasn't resolved. When I called back Greenpoint Eye Care, they told me to contact the insurance company myself even though they were the ones who ran the claim, why not try to make it right? This entire situation feels extremely unethical and like an attempted insurance fraud against both the insurance company and patients. My mom paid in cash and should never have had her insurance charged/Ran/Put on hold as they calimed. I'm very disappointed and will be contacting the insurance company and better business bureau to file a complaint about this incident.

Under federal law (the FTC Eyeglass Rule), your eye doctor is required to provide a copy of your prescription immediately after an exam. They did not proved me with my script and when I called they refused to email. They said they can fax it but I do not have a fax machine. Horrible customer service and eye exam lasted 30 seconds. Would not go back

Ripoff! Similar glasses that I had purchased for $150 at another store were $250 here and when I accidentally lost them, they tried to charge me over $400 to replace the same exact pair, telling me my insurance made it cheaper the first time. No; my insurance just paid the $250. I left and got my glasses cheaper elsewhere. You should go elsewhere too!

I had a great experience at Greenpoint Eye Care. I came in with redness and pain in my eye and was seen right away. The doctor was very thorough and caring, and I felt much better by the time I left. On top of that, I got a new pair of glasses. Excellent care and service I highly recommend them! & my new glasses will be ready for pick up in a week which is the fastest turn around I have experienced in this area I will definitely be making this my go to eye doctor

While experience was great! I would really recommend. They were able to explain clearly all the costs and insurance covered amounts. Dr. Kiselow was great, very nice and explained everything too. The ladies and the front are very nice and helped me choose the right shape for glasses. They also repaired my old broken glasses even if I didn't buy them from them.
