Dr. Liselotte Van Landegem, OD, performed on the the best and most comprehensive eye exams I have had in a long time. She did a great job explaining the issues with my eyes. Also provided contact lens and eye glass prescriptions. Very patient and through. I highly recommend her. The office staff were very nice and efficient.
Your website says you're open until 6, your Google page says you're open until 5:30. It's 4:40 and I'm here to pick up my glasses and nobody's answering the phone or the buzzer. I took two trains to be here and now I can't get what I came for. I guess it's incumbent upon me to organize my schedule around your receptionist, so what time would it be convenient for YOU to have me come in and pick up my script?
I had a fantastic experience at Park Slope Eye Optical Boutique. Dr. Miriam Korik was incredibly friendly and professional, making me feel at ease from the moment I arrived. The office was clean, modern, and well-organized. The optometrist took the time to explain everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. I left feeling confident in my eye health. I Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for excellent eye care!!
Dr. Nguyen is a true community doctor -- I received excellent care and felt confident in his expertise. He's really kind and patient, and did not rush me when fitting me for contact lenses and glasses. He provides high quality care at a great cost. I really appreciate how much he cared about me as a patient and really wanted me to feel comfortable with the lenses and glasses I chose. Will be sending all referrals to him!
Dr. Nyugen is such a gem! He is extremely personable and flexible, including helping me to reorder contacts without requiring a totally new appointment and copay. He consistently finds ways to make sure I take full advantage of all available discounts and insurance (far more than I've found elsewhere). Thank you Dr. Nyugen!
For years I have worn a certain Japanese brand of titanium eyewear (begins with a Zero, ends with a G)--I love it because it is so durable & lightweight, and I like the look. Recently, my glasses developed a crack in the over-the-ear plastic portion that was causing me considerable discomfort. I pinged the manufacturer via their website: could they point me to an optician in 11215 to help repair my glasses? They suggested Park Slope Eye Optical Boutique. So glad they did! The service was super helpful, friendly & responsive. PS Eye totally solved my problem! NB: I plan to buy a new pair in Q2. I will post an update then.
Edit: I do not have the wrong office. The first visit I made to this office I met with John Nguyen who I assumed was the owner/ operator. I did have a different doctor today Miriam Korik- she mentioned her "employer" multiple times.
I really debated leaving this review. But it's important. I just finished my visit to park slope optical boutique and it'll be my last time. I was informed that they don't dilate the eyes in the office because they only have one person on staff at a time. The procedure they use in replacement of dilating the eyes is not covered by insurance and it costs 90$. They told me it saves time and limits the amount of visits you have to make.
I suggested that when I made the appointment I should've been made aware of the out of pocket costs, since it's standard for them. Instead of saying "you're right, we will do that next time," The response I got was "well, we feel like if our patients have an issue with this cost we don't want them as patients." I viewed this statement as a comment on my perceived socio economic status, or even racial bias? Either way I thought that was incredibly rude to say to someone. The doctor even apologized for her bluntness.
The 90$ is not an issue, who doesn't love to save time! However, the lack of transparency certainly is. It suggests shady business practices. It almost felt a little scammy?
Either way- I got the HINT, if you know what I mean. I didn't feel like I was in Brooklyn at an eye doctor owned and operated by a minority ( why I picked him), but rather in an environment that actively didn't want me there. Ive informed my insurance company.
Such a great first visit! Zero wait, weekend hours, clean office, great coverage with VSP, has a machine that scans your eye so you don't have to dilate which I was happy about. Dr Nguyen then spent quality time after the exam helping me find/try on a bunch of glasses (i ended up buying a pair since i loved them so much and i'm picky - it's been 7 years since my last frames lol) highly recommend!
