Had a great experience visit with Dr. Mendoza! He's attentive, explained things clearly, and you can tell he truly cares about his patients. He took his time during the exam and made sure all my questions were answered. The front desk was helpful while I checked out glasses. I'll be coming back and would recommend this place.
Wow! Amazing staff at this location. I am thankful I came here. The attention I received they made me feel great while trying on my frames they were also super honest on how the frames look on me. It wasn't about selling a pair it was about me asking if the frames were fitting to my face and them being honest with their answer. Thank you for the amazing experience.
I had an appointment on 12/12. The doctor was pleasant, but my experience with the front desk and management was unacceptable.
Before placing my order, I explicitly confirmed with Michelle (front desk) that Plaza Optical would order me a brand-new pair of frames, not give me the store display model that customers try on. Based on that confirmation, I paid over $300.
On 12/16, Michelle called and told me the frames were on backorder for ~3 months and tried to push me to accept the storefront display frames instead. I declined and reiterated that I wanted a new pair, as promised, and was fine waiting. She said she'd call me back that day -- she never did.
On 12/17, I called again and was told something completely different: that they might not even be able to order a new pair at all because they usually order frames in batches. This directly contradicted what I was told both in-store and on the phone earlier. Given year-end insurance timing, I asked for a refund if they couldn't provide the new frames promised. I was told I'd get a callback -- again, no call.
On 12/18, Michelle was rude and hostile and stated they "don't do refunds," despite being unable to provide the product agreed upon at purchase. I asked to speak to a manager (Paul) and was told he's "never in the office" and would call me later. I was told everything would be resolved by Saturday.
On 12/20, after receiving no calls all day, I called again. Michelle was not working. The front desk representative on duty (Heather) stated she knew nothing about my account and that no notes had been left. I again requested a manager and a refund -- both were refused.
Later that same day, when I contacted VSP to file a complaint, the VSP representative called Plaza Optical directly. During that call, Heather told VSP that Plaza Optical was able to obtain a new pair of frames, which directly conflicted with what she had told me earlier -- that she had no knowledge of my account and no resolution had been reached.
The conflicting information provided to me and to my insurance company, combined with repeated failure to follow up, lack of documentation, refusal to refund, and unprofessional conduct, is extremely concerning.
This place misrepresents what you're purchasing, changes terms after payment, and refuses refunds when they cannot deliver the agreed-upon product. I would strongly recommend avoiding Plaza Optical
I've been using Plaza Optical for several years for contact lenses and eye exams. The team there are very friendly and helpful with understanding insurance allowances.
During the eye exams the doctor gives clear feedback and is very friendly and relaxed. The team is super-responsive if you need anything outside of the appointment (copies of prescriptions etc).
Highly recommended!
Been going here for 3 years, front desk is very pleasant/helpful, Dr Mendoza is excellent. Highly recommend.
I usually never take the time to review places, but my experience with this place was so bad that I don't want anyone else to have to experience this! I saw another review that said similar things. The staff is rude and unprofessional. They are very evasive about the pricing and I was charged a lot for a fitting that is much cheaper other places - when I asked questions about the charge before I had to pay I only got snarky responses. I didn't even get a print out/email of what I paid for! The eyeglasses prescription that I was given was wrong said I'm -30.00 when I've never been over -4.00.
Pricing is questionable and they are not transparent about any of it, my experience with the doctor itself was odd, and they had absolutely horrible customer experience - I would not recommend this place! My first horrible experience at an optometrist.
Dr. Mendoza is the nicest, most pleasant and straight forward doctor of any kind I've dealt with in years. Michelle and the rest of his staff are great as well.
I highly recommend this eye care practice! Appointments always start on time, and the staff and medical assistants provide exceptional, courteous service. The doctor takes time to listen carefully to all concerns and conducts thorough examinations. The booking process couldn't be simpler, and they offer an impressive selection of stylish eyewear to choose from.
