What a privilege to meet Dr. Salvatore J. Shakir and all his an incredible team! I saw Doctor yesterday as an Emergency Patient! Praise God all is good, Doctor not only helped me with my problem, he did my check up, he answered all my questions, he did beyond the measure! Also I received my prescription! What can I say, I am so blessed to find such a Great Doctor, my Friend Gail recommended Me! Highly recommend to all my Family and Friends! Exited to come back again! Thank you so much!!!

I went here for scleral lens and the team there are a bunch of lazy liars. They were supposed to send documents to my insurance and after 6 months of checking in, and listening to multiple lies, I went to a different doctor. Within 1 week at new doctor, my insurance had confirmed the information and I received my lens within the promised time. Dr Evan Kaplan for anyone needing a responsible and reliable doctor. I first met with a lady at Dr Shakir's office, she seemed like a frazzled mess, and I found out that she never sent my documents to my insurer. 3 months later, another person at the office promised to do better, Yonkee, and he was pretty much the same as the lady, empty air. I spoke with insurance to track what they had received and I found out that Dr Shakir's office had only just sent documents their way 3 months after I had my appointment and the documents were incomplete. Their attempts to get accurate information was met with dead air. Anyway, for anyone in need of scleral lens or the like, save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. Dr Shakir also kept saying he didn't think I'd qualify for insurance because he didn't think my eyes were bad enough and that my case will most likely be denied by insurance. He thought it'd save my time by simply buying it out of pocket. The experience was wild. My eyes are pretty bad and I've had to do cross-linking procedures to avoid going blind, so he made no sense. My current doctor, Dr Kaplan, was worried about my eyes, did all the necessary fitting during the first meet and assured me that once my insurance got approved, my next meeting would be me trying on my new scleral lens. Anyway, this happened early last year and a conversation with someone about terrible doctors and staff experience triggered the memory of my experience and I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone else struggling with vision and a Dr + team that don't seem to care is not advisable. Edit - I checked them out on zocdoc and based on the reviews there, it seems like they run a scam on patients where they tell them their insurance is not accepted and push for them to pay cash instead. In one case, the patient later found out that his/her insurance should have been accepted. Avoid avoid!!

Dr Shakir is my 4th OD over 15th Yrs. I drove lamiste 80 miles to see him. The care his gave is no where near to be compared to my previos OD. Detailed , he took as much time as needed to ensure my eyes were in-depth checked. 2 days with his direction of treating my dry eyes .. I felt like i had my eyes replaced with a new born pair. I will drive as far as I have too to go back to him for my eyes need.

I have been going to Dr. Shakir for 31 years moved to Philadelphia 15 years ago I still travel to see him when I can. Could not find any other OD with the professionalism, knowledgeable and friendly. I love his service, my eyes feel the difference when I have not seen him for a while.I also have referred family and friends to him. Highly recommended

I've been coming here for years. Seems like the front desk staff has changed as the woman I saw today I have never encountered. I called to place an appointment two weeks ago. I called back a week ago to update. Neither times was my insurance verified. I come to the office and staff notifies me my insurance isn't accepted and she called today to verify. I left my hospital shift early just to not be seen and given an apology as if that should suffice. Incompetent.

Dr Shakir is an excellent and caring expert on eyes,. He's very thorough in examining your eyes.

Dr Shakir is knowledgeable and caring. He is proactive and never rushes though an exam.
