Good medical care from the ophthalmologists and staff at Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region. However, the billing and insurance process was shockingly poor. I was told twice that my insurance would cover my appointment, but there's no record of this in my file. It appears pre-auth was not sought, or it was ignored. The billing department was unable to assist, and the billing director does not return voicemails and was unwilling to assist. While I understand insurance verification is a patient responsibility, I expected more proactive support from the office. Steer clear of this practice.
They got me in today for an emergency appt . Right from the phone call to setting up the appt , the check in receptionist , the intake person to Dr Harrow everyone was fantastic . Dr. Harrow took his time with me , was very thorough and compassionate. He addressed all my concerns. Highly recommend!!
I switched ophthalmologists due to my doc retiring, however I see Dr. Deere the optometrist for my contacts. She is wonderful. Patient, understanding, willing to answer questions. Eye doctors visits always take a long time. The preliminaries with the assistant can be a half hours, then waiting to dilate etc. come with that expectation.
If you have the pleasure of seeing Dr. Contractor or O.D. Deere, they are fantastic and you are a lucky patient.
My experience was great. Both listened to me, answered all my questions and relieved me of my pain as soon as I arrived. They both were professionals who care and treat you like family.
Now, if you're scheduled to see Dr. RABADY, DONT WAIST YOUR TIME! His laziness and incompetence will bore you.
Man told me to put a Band-Aid over my eye and keep it closed for 8 hours. All this so he didn't have to come in on a Friday, when on-call. He chose to enjoy his wealth and his children instead of coming in for the patient.
Band aid over my eye, ummmm. Ask for someone different, it's in your best interest.
Many thanks for reading.
While wait times and receptionist/nurses were great, Dr. Stasior was dismissive and told me nothing was wrong. I have been dealing with pain in my right eye and double vision. was in the doctors room for a total of 3 minutes. didn't listen to me and just basically brushed me off and said nothing was wrong. Didn't attempt to dialate my eyes or check anything out. do not recommend coming here to be treated poorly and disrespected. never had any experience like this at any doctors office in my life time.
ZERO Stars!!!
Please read review patients, it's your eye sight!!
After waiting 2hrs with my mother to see this repugnant, joke of a doctor (Stasior), he was condescending, dismissive and down right RUDE. I am a medical professional and I have never in my 20yrs of experience have I witnessed what we endured today. I waited for my mother to speak first and explain her issues. This "MD" then gaslit her, stating he couldn't help her (he wasn't even sure if there was a problem yet) and told her to see ENT for her EYE ISSUE!! When I finally asked him what he thought the problem might be other than his repeated explanations of being unable to help. His response was to stand up aggressively, flail his arms and say "are you asking me if I think it's cancer, sure it could be cancer, it could be 1000 other things too, but what are you hoping it's cancer". This was after watching him touch things, then pry open my mother immunocompromised eye with unwashed bare hands. Cancer was not a thought we had, we were there for a clearly blocked tear duct. After his flailing, disgusting cancer speech he then gave her some scripts for drops and booker her for a DCR (procedure for blocked tear duct) in 30 days. At this point, I wouldn't trust him with my dog's eye let alone my mother's!! I honestly cannot what to see the EOB from her ins for today's visit, guaranteed there's a whistleblower claim in it.(especially with all the other comparable reviews)
I will be calling the Medical Board first thing on Monday and turning this gloveless office into the board.
P.S. Dr Stasior, moving forward you may want to assume you aren't the only medical professional in the room.
Unsanitary Doctor! Avoid This Entire Practice!
I was recommended to see Dr. Stasior for long-standing dry eye, and had an appointment last month. He was rude and kept touching his mouth (must be a habit). He used the slit lamp to examine my eyes (very poorly done) and before I could say anything, he pulled my eyelid down without washing his hands! I'm immunocompromised, but he obviously didn't care. There were a variety of other issues at this visit, including the fact that the technician cracked my glasses, but the unsanitary doctor is the main reason you should avoid this practice! Being a health provider myself, this behavior was obviously very concerning. I contacted the office manager, but never received a call back.
Update: I just received a 40.00 bill for the eyelid photo and was never informed this would be an additional charged! I will NOT be paying this! In all fairness, I should be refunded my copay which I paid in full at the time of visit, and reimbursement for my broken glasses- see picture.
Avoid this practice!!!

People were nice and they did a good job with my daughter's tricky vision issues, and Dr Deere was great but the time to get through the exam before even seeing the doctor was about 1.5 hours and checking out was about 40-45 min. Over two hours and we didn't even have time to get glasses.
