Casey Vision Care (merged into Guilderland Vision Care)

I've been going to Casey Vision for over 30 years and have always had a great experience with the doctors. They're knowledgeable, kind, and provide excellent care. Unfortunately, what has consistently taken away from that experience over the years is the front office staff--specifically, Joanne. Joanne has a long history of being dismissive, unhelpful, and at times, openly rude. Years ago, she refused to release my prescription for a snorkeling mask until I spoke to the doctor, which felt unnecessarily difficult. Last year, when I got glasses from their office, no one explained they were progressives--and when I had trouble adjusting, the process to fix it took multiple visits. There was no guidance or accountability on her part. Most recently, as I waited for my appointment, she loudly said to another staff member, "There's the girl who was a problem." I hadn't even spoken yet. When I asked to set up a time to look at frames, she said there was nothing available, despite it being well before closing. It was very clear I was being intentionally pushed away. What really stood out was how familiar this behavior seems to be. When I casually mentioned my experience to a coworker, another coworker overheard and said, without hesitation, "That sounds like Joanne from Casey Vision--that's why I don't go there anymore." I've also noticed several other reviews here mentioning her by name, which unfortunately lines up with what I experienced. The doctors are great, but Joanne makes the overall environment uncomfortable. I hope the practice takes this feedback seriously, because no matter how good the care is, the experience at the front desk sets the tone--and she's driving patients away.

This is the best eyeglasses store I have ever patronized in my 50 years of wearing glasses. The doctor I see is awesome, very good at explaining how vision works. The ladies who take care of customers are fantastic. They are friendly, enthusiastic, extremely helpful, and very very knowledgeable about design in terms of frames and lenses. They will tell you the truth about what looks good on you, and they are patient. I get some of the best customer service I've ever had at any business when I go to Casey vision.

I started going to Casey Vision at the recommendation of a colleague, and I will never look back. Dr Casey-Gee is super helpful and efficient, and talks through things with you to make sure your questions are answered. The opticians Morgan and JoAnne really make me feel welcome and at ease as soon as I walk in. I can always count on Morgan to help me pick out some frames that not only work with the lenses and I think are cute, but that always complement my face shape! Somehow she manages to balance honest opinions while still making it so much fun to shop for some frames, and that's not an easy thing to master! Recently I was being recruited for a company that's out of the area, and my first thought was "is it possible to make a trip back once a year for Casey Vision?" It's the only annual appointment I'm ever enthusiastic about scheduling.

We have been going to Casey Vision for years and trusted their expertise with complicated prescriptions. However, our most recent visit (scheduled appointment) with Joanne, was unwelcoming, abrupt, unfriendly, unprofessional and lasted approximately 10 minutes in total. We had selected several frames and after doing so, went to the desk for a fitting and our selections were tossed to the side with a "no" at each selection to which Joanne got up, went to the back wall, selected two frames, came back and gave us a choice to pick from and measured the lenses with little to no conversation, stated a price and sent us on our way. In the past, there would have been an opportunity for more frames to be suggested that would be more suitable for this particular prescription, that carries more weight on a frame, however, that was not the case at all. Needless to say, after being clients for many years and feeling tossed aside at this appointment as if we "put them out", we have decided to move on to a caring local, independent optical shop that was able to fulfill our prescription this morning with new technology that measures exactly where this complicated prescription needs to rest on the lens without error, several frame options were suggested to hold the lenses with a friendly, engaging demeanor and from a professional clinical optician that genuinely cared about meeting our needs. Requesting years of files from Casey Vision came as a shock to Joanne, however, no apology will suffice for the matter in which your care failed us and we have the utmost confidence in our new opticians and their ability to fulfill our future optical needs.

I had my first visit and it was quick with no wait. The office was pleasant and easy to get to. The doctor and staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quick and easy to get an appointment. Just be aware to complete your exam this location has to dilate your eyes. They do not have the machine, which costs extra. Which if you go during the morning or worktime will send you home for the day. A bit of an inconvenience. But the staff will accommodate your schedule to help alleviate that. This location does have a good stock of glasses; it was easy to find something suitable. They have something for anyone's budget. The front assistant was very busy and could use some help, but she handled it professionally and to the best of her abilities. Apparently, I went on a low staffed day. So this is not normal. I look forward to getting my new glasses. Overall my experience was good.

We have gone to Casey Vision for years and would recommend them!m Dr. Casey-Gee is very thorough with exams, answering questions and explaining things. I can't say enough good things about Morgan and JoAnne! They are extremely friendly, always give an honest opinion on frame selection and have been so patient showing my daughter how to put in and take out contact lenses.

I went to Casey Vision at the suggestion of a representative of the Davis vision plan which is offered to New York State employees. The representative told me that they offer free frames through the Davis plan but only a few vision centers in our area carry these particular frames with Casey vision being one of the choices. When I arrived to my appointment, I explained to them that I was interested in the free frames available to New York state employees through the Davis vision plan. I was shown where they were located, but was informed that they knew nothing about these particular frames and could not help me with any questions I might have! At that point, I was basically ignored as I browsed and tried on different frames. Nobody seemed to have any interest in helping me pick out frames or give me an opinion one way or another. I found them to be rude and dismissive. I truly believe it is because I was not buying an expensive pair of eyewear. It's too bad that options for the Davis vision plans free frames are so limited in this area because Casey vision would not be my first choice again.

My wife went here. They misdiagnosed the state of her eyes repeatedly, despite my wife providing feedback after prescription updates. Changed eye doctors and had a much more knowledgeable interpretation of my wife's eyes. The eye doctor was not successfully identifying the vision needs of my wife; the front staff were not polite (and presumed to know my wife's experience in lieu of actually listening to what my wife was reporting) while functioning as intermediaries for fulfilling prescriptions, as intermediaries for communicating with the eye doctor, and with scheduling. If your eyes are mostly-good/"standard", perhaps your experience with casey vision will be fine. Otherwise: try somewhere else, first.
