This place is HORRIBLE.
I was scheduled to see Stefania Paniccia. Upon arrival, it was evident this place was interested in seeing as many patients as possible- not providing proper care. After a very long, unanticipated wait, I was directed upstairs- to wait even longer.
I could hear Stefania through the half open door with a patient. She was scolding and patronizing him for working - says he needs to hire someone to take care of certain responsibilities- I mean, I could hear the entire conversation and there is zero patient privacy. I should have just left there. Her tone was condescending, rude and demeaning.
She finally calls me in. I sit down. Tells me to pick up my bag off the floor. Then tells me to get up and go retrieve my patient file from the door and come back- mind you, there are other patient files on the door and also- that's not my job.
I begin to explain my symptoms. She interrupts me. Tells me I'm wrong about the cause. Dismisses my concerns and tells me I just need glasses. She hasn't even reviewed my file at this point.
I told her she has poor bedside manner and she went off on me. She started yelling at me. Walked over to the door. Calls the reception area and blocked my access to exit the door- while screaming that I need to be rescheduled to see another doctor.
Google her name. You'll find plenty more to read.
I asked the owner of the practice to contact me- he never did. They clearly do not care and based on the reviews, this is a common occurrence and they're aware of it. Avoid at all costs.
My family has been coming here for over 10 years. I bought pair of glasses and they were really fine until I brought them in for an adjustment and a gentleman who's been working there for quite some time, accidentally broke the temple of my glasses and gave it a really cheap replacement. Never actually doing the right thing and giving me another pair of glasses. But that's probably my fault. I should've spoken out when it happened. In any sense, I went there recently to get another adjustment and I was told that I need to "Build something" so the temple doesn't bend the other way. No accountability on their part, they broke my glasses that I bought from their store and are told that I have to build something to repair my glasses that they broke. Couldn't believe what I was being told. "I believe you can build something." Who does this guys think I am, Frank Lloyd Wright? Don't go here to buy glasses. They do not take responsibility or accountability. Pure laziness. So done with this place. Go to Lens Crafters instead or Warby Parker.
My experience at this doctor's office has been very terrible and I do not recommend anyone come here. First off the staff is extremely rude and do not care about anyone but themselves. They will argue about lateness but it takes hours to see doctors who do not attend to their patients in a timely manner. They also did not inform me I was in need of surgery until I went to OCLI and they caught it instead when I had an issue for the past years with my eyes. The doctors do not care about their patients here and are just wanting to make money. I have heard horror stories from other patients and should have listened. The manager Sierra is also very rude and has argued with me without understanding my situation. They also have no HR to file any complaints with. Everyone should go to OCLI instead as they have highly trained doctors who are actually there to help.
The Dr. was very good, but when it came to meeting with the Optician Stacey that all changed. Once she heard my husband and I only wanted frames that were covered by our insurance she could not be botherd, She showed me a few frames. But when came to my husband she didn't even get out of her chair and then seemed to have an attitude. We have been patients for many year, last year we moved a half hour away but continued to travel here, but after this experience we are considering looking elsewhere.
I have been a loyal patient at Hicksville Woodbury Opticals for over 15 years, but my recent experience was appalling. Despite waiting patiently for 45 minutes, the optometrist, Dr. PANICCIA, displayed extreme rudeness and disrespect towards me and other patients. When I questioned the delay and requested to see the doctor, she arrogantly chastised me for being just a minute late, claiming that she would not see me because I did not respect her time. It was shocking to witness her lack of professionalism and empathy.
Dr. PANICCIA's confrontational attitude escalated when I pointed out the inconsistency of her actions towards me and another patient who had also waited for 45 minutes. Instead of addressing the issue with tact and respect, she engaged in a heated argument and displayed rudeness towards me and the other patient. Her behavior was completely unethical and unbecoming of a healthcare professional.
This experience has left me deeply disappointed and distressed. The way Dr. PANICCIA treated me, as well as the other patients, was unacceptable and reflects poorly on the reputation of Hicksville Woodbury Opticals. I strongly urge the management to address this issue and ensure that such disrespectful and unprofessional behavior is not tolerated in a healthcare setting.
I hope that this review serves as a warning to others seeking eye care services at this facility. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and compassion, qualities that were sorely lacking in my encounter with Dr. PANICCIA.
Woodbury Optical has the most kind, professional staff as well as an amazing selection of eyewear. Scott helped us find the perfect pair of glasses for our daughter in addition to new sunglasses for me. Scott (and honestly all staff) is one of the kindest, most patient opticians I've ever worked with. Highly recommend.
Let me start this review by saying that I was a patient at this office for eleven years. The office has always been a little chaotic especially on weekends but I felt the care provided was worth it. That changed this year. My wife and I both had exams performed in August. Afterwards we ordered three pairs of glasses totaling over $500 after insurance, which I paid in full. The start of this experience went sour from the moment we started discussing what our insurance covers. I was told point blank that my insurance does not cover a third pair of glasses, that no one's insurance does, and only after threatening to walk out did they bother to contact the insurance company to learn that in fact I was right. The previous year they screwed me out of this benefit for the same reason but this year I was prepared. Anyone reading this review should question why a business would tell their customer that they are wrong when they stand to make additional money if the the customer is actually right. About two weeks later the glasses were ready so we went to pick them up. At that point we were told that we were due a credit because the insurance covered more than they thought. I gave them my credit card and in a rush to leave (the kids were tired and cranky) I didn't notice that they processed it as a charge instead of a credit. So if you're following the credit owed me doubled. In the proceeding month I've contacted them three times by phone and visited the office in person to discuss the billing issue. Not a single phone call has been returned. In person they flatly refused to refund the mistaken charge citing that they needed to review the supposed original credit (I'm being called a liar essentially). The manager I spoke with fails to understand that credit or not, the mistaken charge should never have occurred and therefore they must refund it regardless of the outcome of their "investigation". I've been forced to dispute this charge with the bank. Additionally, both of my glasses were ordered with the wrong thickness of lens so those need to be reordered. When the optician called to confirm the fee (which I would have paid anyway) for the thinner lens, he confirmed that I was due a credit and that he'd apply it to the replacement lens fee. So two people from the office have confirmed to me that my account was due a credit yet I have not received a single phone call from their billing office in three weeks. Mistakes happen but professionals fix their mistakes. This office is not staffed by professionals.
Have been going 10 years to this place but have to say they have turned more into business rather than patient care. After Dean Hart left the practice this place is worse. I am never going back. I would recommend to everyone not to try this place at all.
I recently visited and saw the doctor for my regular yearly eye exam and specially doctor checked for my eyes both contact lens and eye glasses and gave two different prescriptions, one for contact lens and one for glasses , both have different number.
The doctor forgot to write the contact lens brand and I asked them to resend the contact lens prescription and they mentioned doctor never saw me for contact lens. I am totally lost. How can doctor give two prescriptions just for eye glasses .
The staff there especially the person who handles the contact lens dealing with patients should retire. He does not know customer service. Just favors people he knows.
People please don't visit place and waste your time and money.
