I had a frustrating experience with this office. When I first arrived, they told me everything would be covered by my insurance. Later, because of repeated miscommunications between my insurance's medical and vision departments, part of the claim was denied. Unfortunately, instead of waiting for the confusion to be sorted out, the office sent me repeated bills and even sent me to a debt collector. As a Medicaid patient, that should never have happened, but when I asked them about it, I was told this was "the doctor's policy."
To their credit, after a complaint and a four-way call with the insurance, they are now trying to resubmit the claim correctly. But the fact remains that they illegally sent me to collections in the meantime, which caused a lot of unnecessary stress and wasted time.
On the clinical side, after dilating my eyes, the doctor didn't provide disposable roll-up sunglasses and instead suggested I just use my hand to block the sun. I had to walk several blocks in bright sunlight with fully dilated eyes, which was very uncomfortable.
Hopefully they improve their billing practices, but patients should be aware of these issues before choosing this office.
I was a patient at this location and had a consistently frustrating experience. Staff were unprofessional, I was bounced between reps, my private information was repeatedly requested by multiple people, and getting help for prescription issues was a nightmare. After I expressed valid frustration, I was banned from the practice instead of being helped. Completely unacceptable. Would not recommend.
My sister recommended Dr Laroach after my emergency visit to a walk in clinic for an alleged infection in both eyes. A bacterial medicine was prescribed but no relief as expected.
Dr Laroach contacted me immediately after I emailed my interest and scheduled me the next morning. The intake process includes completing forms with your social security and credit card numbers which I totally disagreed with. It is not required by law!. You will not receive health care if you do not include this information. I was seen by his PA Assistant who was kind, professional and very knowledgeable. She escorted me in the exam room and reviewed my folder. To our surprise, another patient's diabetes information was included!!! Not good! If this happened, where could my social security and credit card numbers end up? Front desk staff made this grave error!
Dr Laroach recommended two over the counter remedies for allergies that worked immediately!!
In summary, it was a good visit and I will be returning in 2 weeks for a follow up exam.
This facility will gladly take your money, even if it means charging you for a service they do not provide. I specifically wrote down the reason I visited the facility, the staff and Doctor knew as I verbally informed them as well. Despite this, I was given unnecessary tests which I partook in since I was under the impression that I was getting the sclera lens. I even told them that it wasn't long ago that I visited my own Eye physician and Ophthalmologist. They could have easily just said no, we do NOT offer sclera lenses and let me go on my way. But they charged me a co-pay along with my insurance just to refer me to a different facility who the Doctor mentioned may provide the sclera lens. I ended up not going to his recommendation, since I cannot trust a facility who isn't honest. I contacted my own insurance and went to a facility that does offer the service I need.

I specifically mentioned to you that I saw my own Eye physician and my Ophthalmologist for my condition. I mentioned to you even before you gave me your "diagnosis", my sole purpose for the visit was for the Sclera lens ONLY. But this just shows how this facility does not listen to their customer, its not like I was hiding this information. I wrote it down on my reason to visit as well. Front desk at least could've seen it and said "no, we don't offer that service here". But they were much more worried about making sure my insurance and co-pays were intact.
It is with heart felt disappointment that my last visit with Dr. Laroche was horrible. I had and infected tear duct. He literally squeezed out the pus with his bear hands and no local anesthesia. Even after I asked. He told his assistant to hold my heard while he squeezed. She was reluctant. The experience was very painful. I spoke to two other eye doctors who told me what he did was inappropriate.
Dr. Laroche and his staff are excellent. They are very professional and Dr. Laroche is an excellent surgeon. He performed excellent cataract and glaucoma surgery on my grandmother and has educated and screened my family for glaucoma. I am able to get appointments in a flexible manner. The office is often busy but the flow is smooth. If using insurance make sure you have the right card and it's active. It not not they have excellent cash prices when I brought my cousin from out of town who did not have insurance. Also their office is beautiful with beautiful art work creating a relaxing environment with educational teaching videos.
My eye care experience at Dr. Laroche's Queens office was great. The staff welcomed me and made my experience go smoothly. The office was very clean and well kept and the medical care was overall professional. I highly recommend if anyone is looking for a ophthalmologist!
Dr. Laroche is an wonderful physician. He is an expert in his field and gives excellent patient care. During my visit, he was very thorough and explained every phase of my examination in a clear and simple manner. I greatly appreciated that. I highly recommend him for your eye care needs.
