A staff here from beginning to end are really good at their jobs. Everyone's really nice.
I do agree, though that there seems to be a lot of waiting in chairs.
However, for me, it was worth the wait. Every specialist has long waiting periods and that has nothing to do with the practice.
Simply is not enough providers.
Happy new year!
Wait time to be seen is very long. Waiting rooms are very full and staff are not great with communication. Make sure you understand costs you may pay out of pocket. If you can get an explanation.
Cannot get the billing person to return calls (left 6 messages) to discuss out of pocket and HRA deductions, never returned call. Emailed once to ask for itemized bill, received the itemized bill but it is missing the second $1463 paid out of pocket that I paid, or so it appears as I dont find it listed. First $1463 is there.
Emailed to see if anyone could resend or why the amount was not listed and again no one can be bothered to respond. I just have a questions and they create more frustration by their inability to respond. I think any business that you pay $2926 OPP ( that amount was to pay the Dr, I was told, but I do not know exactly what that means as my ins also paid the doctor too.) and HRA is deducted $3595 (Albany eye surgery) and the OPP Lens of $1500 (which I am not questioning as that was the only expense that was explained correctly)
My Ins carrier could not get a response other than she, meaning me signed a form to pay anything above and beyond. I did ask for that as well, but cannot get that form sent to me either. Again just looking for a better understanding of the billing. Not saying that I should have asked more questions before the surgery. You do not know what you do not know. But now it makes me wonder why they can't explain it?
Dr's pretty much do not remember who you are and barely listen in the 5 mins they spend with you. But that is pretty much any Dr you see now.
Got appointment quickly after explaining urgency. However, an unfortunate experience with Dr. Michael Belhumeur, OD., followed. I was under a mistaken.impression that I was seeing an opthamologist, not an optometrist. After a one hour exam and testing, he could not identify the cause of my symptoms. No urgency or immediate need was identified. An appointment was arranged with a colleague identified as a neuro-opthamologist for 10 days later--the earliest available appointment. Meanwhile symptoms worsened over the span of several days, an earlier appointment was requested but not provided. After some pleading and alarm, the receptionist (!) suggested I go to the Albany Med ER. I went. That Wednesday night, the young resident opthamologist trainee diagnosed a torn and partly detached retina-- a very serious problem requiring immediate intervention. By Friday I was in surgery at Samaritan hospital to repair the eye. That was 2 days ago. I will lukelt never know what permanent vision damage I incurred by the delay due directly by the incompetence of and misdirection by Dr.Michael Belhumeur, OD,
The appointments are unnecessarily extremely long. The sign on the waiting room stating "if you wait more than 15 minutes please notify someone" are literally preposterous because they'd speak to almost every patient waiting. The communication and bed side manner is non-existent and their transfer between waiting rooms and rooms for various procedures is redundant. My son was seen multiple times in the office and each appointment for an eye exams and photos without dilation took over an hour and a half. The care plan was not communicated well either. I would avoid this office at all costs- even if it requires driving to another office that is an hour away it would result in time and energy saved- do yourself the favor.
On Friday September 19, 2025 I brought my daughter in for a visit after a referral from her pediatrician due to have two eye infections, one in each eye over a short period of time. I arrive 15 minutes prior to my appointment, and after being greeted by the receptionist (who was absolutely amazing to my daughter and extremely friendly), we were called back almost right away. So at that point, I felt very comfortable. Well, that quickly went downhill and FAST. We were brought into the room and told the Dr. would be with us shortly. What Dr. were we seeing, I had no idea. A woman came into the room, and after a while I gathered she wasn't the Dr., but again I wasn't 100% sure because no one introduced themselves. She started asking what had been going on with my daughter. While I was speaking with her, another woman flew into the room and we were all startled. She was wearing a belly shirt, so I was not thinking she was the Dr. Well, she was in fact the Dr., and I did not learn until later that she was Dr. Natalie Lopasic. Never introduced herself, no bedside manner, and just strapped an eye inspector headpiece to her head, nonchalantly looked at both my daughters eyes, for no more than 10 seconds, and let us know "you're all set it's nothing." Well now 3 days later, my daughters eye infection is back. I am EXTREMELY disappointed at her lack of examination, communication, and just in general common decency. I will NOT ever be going back here and I recommend you do not as well.
Had a 10am appt. did a couple of eye tests with machines maybe 20 minutes total for the 2 tests and eye drops. However at 12:00, 2 hours later I am still waiting to see the Dr.
This is totally unacceptable. In conversation with other patients they too expressed their frustration with the wait time. Your office needs to reassess your booking practice. No one should have to wait over 2 hrs to see any Dr.
Unfortunately, I've had a quite frustrating experience getting glasses here. The doc who did my exam lovely, as was Taylor at the eyeglasses shop, but the company's systems are clearly disorganized. My glasses were supposed to come in 1-2 weeks, and it took more than 3; I asked for them to be mailed for me, and they weren't mailed out for several days and it's been a week and they still haven't arrived. (I don't even know how it's possible it's taking this long for them to come from Albany to Troy.) I thought I was doing a one-stop-shop experience but it's been almost a month. Great people work there but unfortunately I don't recommend this business because their organization is lacking.
I brought my elderly mom to Northest Eye Center for an eye exam. She is in a wheelchair and we found the doorways to be a bit narrow but doable. We met with Dr. Taylor Champagne who was very thorough, kind and patient. I felt like she really cared about helping my mom. We received a new prescription for my mom and headed next door to pick out glasses. We received excellent service at their optical shop.
