Dr. Hugh Sauer

Amazing Dr. Hugh Sauer was Super patient and accommodating for my son who is 6yrs old nonverbal on the spectrum highhh sensory with a three year-old level comprehension as an autism mom, I literally get nervous when I leave the house with Kane! it's far from easy, but everyone from the doctor to the staff amazing I don't play when it comes to my kids especially Kane he needs a team that is knowledgeable and understanding and I have to say our experience was awesome they have a separate playroom, which was good because it's hard for him to sit around a lot of people so the two separate waiting rooms in which you can choose from was cool all the artwork in this place, had me and my husband busy we all had a good time. I read some of the reviews and I'm deff surprised because our experience was GREAT I got all the paperwork I needed emailed to me within the same day. We will be back for sure thank God, we found a good doctor and a safe place where we can go for Kane's eye condition

My daughter has been seen Dr Sauer two times, a few years apart. Both times were regrettable. Due to other reviews, I do want to mention that the receptionist has been great through all of this. It's the doctor I have issues with. I found Dr Sauer to be rude, unprofessional, dismissive, condescending. He lacks compassion and worst of all, he doesn't listen. During our most recent visit, I could tell that he was in a mood before we even got called into the exam room. There were valid external reasons for some of his frustration but it had nothing to do with us. The building lost power for a couple of minutes causing the lights and wifi to go out while I was checking in on the tablet. He wasted little time before started to tell us that he probably wouldn't be able to see us that day and went to take the tablet out of my hands when the lights came back on. After that, he openly complained to the receptionist about a different patient who was stuck in traffic, well within earshot of the waiting room. Then returned to further rant about her not confirming her appointment anyway. When it was our turn, he seemed annoyed that we were even in his office. He dismissed my daughter's recent diagnosis from a different provider, claimed the condition is over diagnosed, and snarkily commented that the provider's specialty isn't qualified to diagnosis her condition before he even began to examine my daughter. The diagnosis was correct. He also repeatedly made negative remarks about my daughter's daily medication despite her meds being necessary, unrelated, and (ironically) beyond his scope of expertise. I was hoping for realistic and effective options to address my daughter's diagnosis. We walked away from that appointment with a confirmation of my daughter's diagnosis a a huge case of the ick. *I will say that he seemed super friendly with the little boy who was right after us. His tone and demeanor were polar opposite. The other time he saw my daughter, she was getting headaches from a new pair of glasses. Insurance didn't cover a return trip to our optometrist and a general opthamologist could not find the problem so, it was suggested that we find a pediatric opthamologist. We waited three months to get an appointment with Dr Sauer. My husband brought her in and reported back to me that the doctor had no idea why my daughter was brought in, based on the fact that my daughter's vision was appropriately addressed with her current prescription. He didn't explore other reasons why her glasses were giving her headaches. I ultimately wound up bringing my daughter back to my optometrist who took the time to diagnose and solve the issue with her lenses. It's sad and frustrating that there are only a handful of pediatric opthamologists in the area and this one seems to operate based on his ego and preexisting assumptions. It sucks to wait months to be seen and then not be provided with adequate care or respect. I really hope that we are an anomaly.

Dr. Sauer and his team are incredible. I had strabismus surgery and the results are fantastic. From the start of the consultation to the surgery everyone was so professional and friendly. If I could do ten stars I would!

The staff was courteous, professional and knowledgeable they made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions and concerns thank you for a pleasurable experience.

They use an outdated or poorly programmed software system to make automated confirmation calls and texts. Some calls and texts they recognize, some they don't, so you don't know if your appointment is confirmed or not until you show up for your appointment. You may end up showing up to a canceled appointment because you didn't answer a phone call, but did respond to a confirmation text. There is no desire to fix this issue and their excuse is "well, it's the software company we use". Extremely unprofessional and they expect you to cater to their poor decisions.

What an amazing doctor. Expert strabismus surgeon who truly cares about his patients and makes sure they are well informed and comfortable with every step of the procedure.

When my daughter was an infant I noticed she'd go cross eyed sometimes and decided it was time for her to see an eye doctor. I was referred to Dr. Saur's office and I'm so glad I found him. He diagnosed her strabismus and she started wearing glasses at 2 years old. Now, almost 5 years later she is still wearing glasses and has perfect vision. Huge shoutout to Dr Saur and his team especially Paula!! Their knowledge and customer service is exceptional. I refer them to anyone who has children and needs an eye doctor.
