Retina-Vitreous Surgeons of Central New York

I recently moved to NY from another state. I was referred to RVS by my ophthalmologist due to new symptoms that occurred during the move. I was scheduled for what seemed to be the earliest time of day that they had. It took almost an hour to be brought back before dilation. I saw Dr. Oellers. Since my condition is complex, he didn't have answers right away. That was perfectly fine. I provided other medical records from my previous doctors to help and was scheduled 4 weeks out for a follow up I had to cancel the appointment due to the government shutdown and being self pay until I can find insurance. I planned on rescheduling once the shutdown was over and I had money again. I received a letter in the mail stating that I was discharged due to "not following a treatment plan." Since I received no treatment plan whatsoever, I called the office. I was informed that it was because I cancelled my appointment. So now I cannot go back to their office at all. I had absolutely NO knowledge of this when I called to cancel my appointment. All they told me was that they would send a "cancellation letter" in the mail. Maybe this policy was in the paperwork during intake, but as someone who is being seen at other specialties for other issues, I cannot memorize every policy that each office has. Please warn your patients before deciding to suddenly discontinue their care.

1st time there i felt very rushed, and like I was bothering them asking questions. 2nd time was better. Address on internet is wrong however and needs to be fixed.

This place use to be so good when they had good doctors. I had Patrick R. Oellers, M.D. today and he didn't spend 5 min in the room. He shined a light in both eyes and out the door he was going. I had to holler a question to him before he came back, glanced at the computer and said no the hole in your eye is closed and out he went. Even the nurse threw her hands in the air as he gave her no information. I told her he definitely will NOT be my surgeon for my eye issue.

I was very nervous when I was scheduled for this appointment as I'm diabetic and didn't know what they were going to do since they do surgery procedures and my instructions said I could be there for up to 3 hrs. BUT...altho it took nearly 2 hrs every single member of their staff was amazing. Super nice ppl and made me feel really comfortable. No surgery...thank god...but I think if I need it in the future I'll be in great hands. Thank you all for making it a fantastic visit for my first time.

I have been a patient at Retina Vitreous for 23 years. Patients see the same doctor every visit unless it's an emergency. Therefore you get to know your doctor and the doctor knows you. They are very thorough, but do not recommend any unnecessary procedures. The staff are all very caring and efficient. I would and do recommend this office to my friends and family.

All employees are professional, friendly and good at their job. When I first came to the office to have my first injection I was very nervous and scared about what was to come. Dr. Spaulding pulled up a stool and explained it (again). He was very compassionate, professional and caring at the same time. I feel comfortable at all my appointments.

I developed an eye problem while on vacation near Watertown. I searched Google Maps for an eye Dr and found good reviews for these guys. They were able to take me the next day. After a thorough exam by Dr Brown I was relieved that it was nothing serious.

When I had my appointment at Retina-Vitreous Surgeons, I was pleased with the knowledgeable and pleasant employees I met there. There were many people there for appointments, and I was pleased with the efficiency with which they were handled. The best part was when I went to my optometrist the next day, he already had the results of the testing the day before. That is the way a well-staffed office should work. I highly recommend them.
