My appointment was at 9:15 but I wasn't taken back til 10:30. Check in was quick & efficient. She was very pleasant. Everyone that was involved in my procedure once I was in the back was perfect & professional. I was told by each person exactly what was being done to me each step...that's reassuring. I won't lie....I was scared but each person that spoke to me eased that a little. My 2nd eye to be done on the 17th should be a breeze.
My wife and I both had appointments today but weren't able to pay the $40 fee for the glasses that no one said anything about until the very end. For some reason my wife was able to get her glasses but I was not and when I asked where the difference was it was at the discretion of the dentist. Not sure what I did to make her not like me but that was frustrating. Other than that it was great and I am exited to be able to see!
This place is like a conveyor belt for eye care; it's not the cozy office experience that I am accustomed to. The moment you walk in, you're faced with a large amount of stations where you check in. The folks working that area are friendly and helpful, thankfully, but it's a bit overwhelming. Once you're checked in, you're shuffled off into an extremely large waiting area with many different hallways that are designated for each doctor. Once you're finally called back, you get your eye testing done by a tech, which was the only enjoyable part of this experience. I believe the woman I worked with was named Candy and she was wonderful at her job and was so friendly. She took her time and listened to all my concerns and asked great questions. Once she is done, you're shuffled into another room where the doctor peeks at your eyes for a a split second and then leaves the room without checking in to see if you have any questions or concerns for him and doesn't even say anything when he walks out. The tech that took over made it clear she wasn't happy there. She didn't explain next steps (like if I wanted to get glasses from there and who to talk to). They gave me my eyeglasses script but I had to go back and ask for my contact script and wait an inordinate amount of time for them to get it. Upon going back out to the lobby, if you want to discuss glasses you have go back to one of the many stations and get on the list to work with someone. Thankfully, I didn't wait long but their selection for folks on Medicaid was slim, poor and outdated. Like most folks, I ended up getting them online. Long story short, I would rather go to the dentist than the eye doctor as I have a more complicated eye issue and have a lot of anxiety when I am there and this place did not make it any better. Candy did a great job, and I wish she was the doctor and had her own office and that is the only reason this place gets three stars. If you want to feel like you're just taking a number and being treated like cattle go here.
From my first visit at Asheville Eye Associates to the last, I felt I was in the best possible hands. Beyond their outstanding reputation in the community and recommendations from friends, my own sense of support was immediate. The entire staff was friendly and sympathetic to my situation. I felt "heard" , listened to and understood. The level of expertise and ability to talk at my level reassured me that I was in the right place! I highly recommend Asheville Eye to anyone experiencing any kind of eye issues.
Dr. Alexander Walters is an excellent ophthalmologist! We feel confident that we are receiving excellent care for our eyes. Asheville Eye Associates is a large practice that houses many ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals. As a result, it feels (but is not) too large to have a personalized experience. It's important to note that once all of the eye testing is completed, (and the professionals, completing the testing are qualified and knowledgeable), meeting with this doctor feels very personalized.
Friendly Front desk, Molly is who did my exam and she was absolutely Amazing. She was very friendly and kind. She also knew her stuff and made the experience alot more comfortable amd enjoyable!! Dr. Meade was great too I dont usually feel comfortable with a Male doctor but he made me feel at ease and heard
Busy organized chaos. They are literally seeing hundreds of patients a day. Somehow they service them all and in a professional respectful manner. My doctor Dr Tullock was fantastic, her knowledge was outstanding. She asked many questions pertaining to my eye health that were pertinent and educational and showed her compassion and deep understanding. I asked her frankly to record a video for YouTube.
I honestly thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at this office today. Every single individual I interacted with, including multiple individuals at the front desk, the assistant, the doctor and optical were all friendly, kind, accommodating and thorough. I may have gotten lucky but wow, what a great group of people! The wait was a little long but it was definitely worth it. I will absolutely continue with this group.
