I've seen some bad reviews here, I have only been to the Hendersonville office and have absolutely no complaints, checking in or out everyone has been very nice, I've called about information also and they were very nice then too. I have been coming here for a long time and no complaints ever. Dr Kahn and the people who assist him have been Great also.

I'm writing this review over a year after my experience with Dr. Patel because this experience has stuck with me, and I hope writing this helps someone else avoid an equally unpleasant experience. I was referred to the practice after my regular eye doctor was concerned for a possible retinal hole following a routine eye exam. For context, I am an otherwise healthy, young adult, so this came as shocking and concerning news. At my appointment at this clinic, I saw probably four different staff members throughout the process of taking images, dilating my eyes, gathering a subjective history, etc. When Dr. Patel came in to see me, he did not shake my hand nor introduce himself, so I finally inferred he was the specialist after a little dialogue. That was strange to me as a medical professional myself, but I would not be writing this lengthy review a year later for that. This is where his bedside manner went from neglectful to overtly hostile. He asked me a few questions about my condition, then proceeded to perform an exam with a bright light/mirror with no prior explanation. He began applying an uncomfortable amount of pressure during this exam (which I had never encountered in a routine eye exam), so I pulled back a little bit. Instead of explaining his procedure or that pressure is normal, he simply continued to apply the same amount of pressure and say he was almost done. No context provided. He clearly was irritated that I squirmed away during his abrasive procedure. Then he finished as promised -with a diagnosis. He nonchalantly stated that I did in fact have a retinal hole, and I would require laser surgery to avoid a probable retinal detachment, but he was "not comfortable" performing this on me. I can only assume that was due to me not acting satisfactory-in his eyes- during this exam. Anxious, I asked what the chances of my retina detaching were if I didn't have the procedure. His response? He didn't know, there is not research on what happens if the surgery is not performed, as it is the standard of care. He had the audacity to tell me I could look up research articles myself and get back to him. When I tried to get more information about the surgery, he avoided my questions. I asked how long it would take, and he said "For you? I couldn't tell you." I then asked for the timeline for an average patient, and after dodging the question, he finally conceded it takes 10 minutes. [Spoiler alert: I had the procedure performed at a different clinic, and it took all of 5 minutes on me, a simple in-office procedure.] I had many more questions as this was not the diagnosis I was expecting -I was hoping my optometrist had made an error -but he did not ask if I had more questions, and he hurried out of the room. I wanted to ask which eye had the hole -he didn't tell me. He didn't give me a plan. He just left the room. This experience was so disrespectful that I would have questioned if I missed something, if it truly happened...did I accidentally spill his coffee on the way in? Knock over a precious figurine? Surely this was not happening...but I had family in there that were equally astounded at his lack of empathy or professionalism, also asking questions, and also equally dumbfounded. I understand we all have off days, andI hope this was an off day for him. I hope others have not had similarly devaluing experiences, however, I write this review because I am doubtful it was a one-time occurrence. Regardless, I hope he learns a modicum of respect or no longer is practicing in a patient-facing role. I caution anyone seeking treatment with Dr. Patel who wishes to be treated with respect. As far as the other staff goes, the front office staff and medical assistants were all friendly and professional. If it were not for Dr. Patel I would likely recommend this office.

I had eye trauma at a young age and was lucky enough to retain most of my vision, but it's something that calls for regular checkups with fancy machines. Thus, I've been through many specialists over the years, but the staff at this organization are some of the best. They treat everyone with such care, respect, and concern. Even though my appointments are infrequent, I feel like Dr. Duggan has a consistent perspective of my health. I'm never discouraged from asking questions, and everyone is so open and friendly. Even if I get a little anxious about my vision declining, these folks make me feel confident.

You know, sent patients to them for a long time because I really liked them and the staff. But now that I'm retired they don't seem to have the same kind energy. Really too bad.

Just had a consultation with Dr. Duggan at Dr. Aundria Lear's suggestion and am extremely impressed. He is affable, articulate and explained everything in detail so I could understand what was happening with my eyes. His assistant Brooke took over to schedule surgery and she is equally as good. Personable, knowledgeable and competent. Protocols followed by all personel and office is immaculate.Kudos to all ! Just went through a second surgery with Dr. Khan and so incredibly pleased with him and the staff. Dr. Khan is amazing, a genuinely empathetic individual and very knowledgeable in his field. Thankful he was recommended to me and Blessed to have him as my surgeon.

I just called this office again to get info about my last visit and prescription for eyewear. It was the same experience as always with the front desk employees: rude, abrupt, hateful, impatient (even with folks who let them know they have a disability, perhaps they need to reread ADA guidelines?), etc. They are always this way!! Not just a bad day here and there. It is ALWAYS. Front office is first impression and this impression is terrible. If I could go elsewhere I would. Dr. Fritz is great and his immediate staff, but the front desk staff....gets a 0 star!!

Dr. Bryan was excellent very pleasant and professional and made me feel comfortable . He answered all my questions he never tried to rush through my visit. The whole staff from beginning to end was great . The young lady who did my eye test and also the young lady who took the pictures of my eyes were so nice and friendly. Everyone at your practice seemed very happy to be working there , which in my opinion definitely makes your patients feel very welcomed . So thank you for a pleasant experience

From check in to the initial check by the staff and then with Dr Bryan and his exam, everyone was very professional, courteous and thoroughly equipped to appropriately handle the purpose of my visit and to clearly communicate the results of the various tests in a manner that kept me fully informed of what they were doing, the results they found and the prognosis for my continued treatment and care. They listened attentively to me and fully integrated my responses to their questions in providing the level of care I have come to expect from them. I wholeheartedly recommend that you afford Carolina Opthalmology the opportunity to provide you with the best level of care possible.
