I just finished having cateract surgery on both eyes which was done by Dr. Karo of WNC Ophthamology, in Asheville, NC. I cannot express how grateful I am of his thoroughness, compassion and expertise. I would highly recommend anyone needing eye care, specifically cateract surgery, to reach out to Dr. Karo!! He has an inviting, friendly staff also!!

I recently visited Dr. Karo for cataract surgery. Dr. Karo and his team were professional, kind and friendly. Having any type of surgery gives you anxiety, but the people caring for you make it much easier. I felt confident with Dr. Karo thru the whole process. He explained every in detail and was patient. He called me after the surgery to check in and see how I was doing. I highly recommend Dr. Karo and his team if you're thinking about cataract surgery and are looking for a 5 star experience.

Dr Karo and his staff were excellent. I never had to wait to be seen and everything about my surgery was explained perfectly. I received a phone call the afternoon of my surgery from Dr Karo to check on me.

Dr. Karo has great communication skills, explains lens options and surgery. He is very pleasant and approachable. He is a solo practitioner , office is very efficient, no long wait times. I had both eyes done in July and I am thrilled with the results! Surgery center was great and post op instructions very clearly explained. All of Dr. Karo's surgeries are on Friday and he sees all of his patients in his office on Saturday for their post op visit. I couldn't be happier with my experience!

I am a medical doctor. Dr Karo is one of the finest physicians I have ever worked with in my life. From my special initial evaluation by he himself, through my surgery on my first eye, then on my second eye, everything was so precise, kind, efficient and, I'm surprised by and grateful for the excellence, elegance and ease of the whole process! Best of all, my sight has definitely improved! Dr Karo's team, office and surgical, was very special as well. When I became aware that I needed cataract surgery.. I took great care to seek a special surgeon, because, OMG, they were going to operate on my eyes! I even paid for 3 different evaluations, turning each one down, even of the most recommended ophthalmologists because I didn't feel comfortable or safe enough. On my first visit with Dr Karo, "I got it." Finally, he was the one. He took time and care to evaluate me, then patiently explain details that mattered to me. One example: the part of the exam called "refraction"...that ultimately determines a prescription for corrective glasses, has always been done by office technicians. However Dr Karo did this himself as part of evaluating me. What was remarkable was for the first time in my life of evaluations--I've had many--for glasses he was patient to gave me the actual amount of time I needed to choose, over and over again between "one" and "two." Many times during previous refractions the evaluator gives so little time between "one" and "two" that I leave wondering how in the world my eyeglass prescription could be correct. Again, Dr Karo, to me, is precise, exact, thorough, patient, kind, and my process of surgery and recovery, excellent. Yes, I have written a lot of words...which reflects how grateful I am to have Dr Karo as my ophthalmologist. Daved Rosensweet M.D.

I had cataract surgery with Dr. Karo a few weeks ago. I have to say I was a little scared, Dr. Karo has a wonderful bedside manor, the surgery was over before you know it. I can see perfectly for the first time in a long while. I have a lot of questions that come up, and he answers all of them in a matter of a few minutes. I recommend him highly.
