UNC Health Eye Care at Cary

Wonderful staff, they are polite & friendly. This the best opthalmology office I have ever been to. I recently had cataract surgery with Dr. David Belyea, he was excellent. My son was impressed with the surgeon. I would definitely recommend this office to family and friends.

If someone is having issues and needs to be seen immediately how does that happen if they are booked out until July? Unreal. Its not like I needed a standard eye exam. Something is obviously wrong and she said oh well, sorry we cant see you until summer. Doesnt even make sense. Primary care cant help. Hospital cant help because you just get referred out. So how do you get an exam ??

Would love to give a 5 star review because staff and Dr. Skylr are great, but the waiting times are atrocious! Both visits! I see others saying the same here. And hope I never have to go there again. Appt. time 10:50. I arrive 40 mins early. It's over an hour drive and never know how long it will take so pad time to make sure I'm not late! Knew it would be a problem when I walked in and the waiting room is packed and one doctor. I didn't "start the clock" until my 10:50 appt time since it was on me that I arrived early. Was called back for the prelim tests nearly an hour after that. I sat and waited as every other person was called back to see doctor. Got down to 3 of us. One lady had to leave after waiting all that time to get to an appt she had at 1 in N. Raleigh. She was there when I got there about 10ish. Rescheduled her for first week in May! Nearly 3 more weeks! I was finally called back at 12:30! I spoke to both receptionist and doctor about this who understand our frustrations... and am told "there is no way we can see the patients with seriousness as we see in a 10 minute appt slot!" I told her they always send those stupid post visit surveys but those are a waste of time also... have added "comments" on several asking for a call with phone number but that has happened zero times in years. I will be calling UNC Customer Service on THEIR BEHALF, the staff. It's not fair to them to have to put up with this and bear the brunt. Most of us going there have to have someone to drive since our eyes are dilated... I'm not so concerned about inconvenience to me as I am for the persons who drive me and others and the inconvenience to THEM! Totally disrespectful of patient's time and those taking us there. If you know I won't be seen for 2 hours later, then give me an appt time 2 hours later. Also, I asked in portal a couple of weeks before if my eyes would be dilated so I'd know if I needed a driver. I got response that said "yes, the doctor will dilatate both your eyes." When the assistant called me back to do the prelim tests, the first thing she said... "well, we don't need to dilate your eyes today." I said "I beg your pardon?" And proceeded to tell her what I was told in portal question. So "since you have a driver, I'll dilatate your eyes!" OMG. When I got to see the doctor, she said there was no need for dilation and was a miscommunication because she remembered tech asking her my question! And would speak to the tech about that! My friend who drove me had to change an appt herself that day and pushed her late. All a mess. Do better UNC!

Very nice staff but wait times are the WORST! It takes about an hour to even get called back for your appointment. They need to do a better job with scheduling appointments so the providers aren't over booked and the patients have LONG wait times.

Doctors and stuff are nice! No problem! But the waiting time is very long. Also every time i have to reschedule my appointment because they put my appointment location in chapel hill eventhough i live just next to their feet, Which doesn't make sense?! I have no idea how they are handling these issues? If they are handling it actually.

Dr Brisley and staff are excellent ! Plan on being there 2 hours for complete exam with wait time.

I called, left voicemails, talked to front desk and nurses but it's been two full weeks and I'm yet to get my issue resolved. My issue? I just need a refill to eye drops for my mother who's eye has been swollen for the past three weeks. But it's like no one can help to give me a refill on a prescription that my mother was already given. She is doing one surgery here for the second time, because they couldn't get it right the first time. This place is terrible.

Everyone is really nice at this office and I really like Dr Skaggs, but I've been here three times and waited over 90 minutes each time before completing appt. with the 40 min drive to get here I spend about 4 hours getting my eyes checked. So will be looking for some where closer to home and where I don't waste half a day.
