I genuinely cannot believe I am sitting here writing my first ever google review and having to be a male Karen but oh my god this has be a nightmare with this location. I'm hot off the press from my 3rd trip to this store in 4 weeks and I have to come back tomorrow now (will write later why) and I am not waiting to write this, that's how frustrated I am after what I am experiencing. I have had bad experiences before, but NEVER this much where I have to write a google review Jesus. It all started when I scheduled an initial eye exam with the front desk guy and got told I am schedule to come in on Wednesday Feb 4th. Great, take some time off work to come in. I make the drive and got told I am actually scheduled for the FOLLOWING Wednesday instead.....fantastic just great waste of time from work. Never got told an apology or anything from one just tough luck that I got told the wrong date. Come in the following Wednesday after more time off work and eye exam went great. Doctor Washington is fantastic and made it easy. Thought it was going to be great by then. Got told by the other associates that my contacts will come and since it is my first time wearing them, I will have to do a quick first time exam. Totally cool. Said I could come in anytime when delivered. Got an email saying they are shipped and it will take 3-4 business days. Never got an email saying they were delivered. Just called TODAY March 4th after 2 weeks, asking if they were there. Yep they were there. I then asked is the person there that does the exams. Got told yes they are on break until 2:30 and I can come in anytime today to do the exam and pick them up. Cool, finally excited to get this over. I take time of work to get there and they tell me that I NEED TO SCHEDULE AN EXAM. I'm beyond speechless and frustrated. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF ME COMING IN AFTER JUST TOLD 30 MINS AGO I CAN COME IN TO TAKE IT. Now I have to take more time off work to take this exam tomorrow. That front desk has put me through the absolute nightmare of scheduling to the point I have to write one of this reviews. I couldn't wait until tomorrow after the HOPEFULLY last time I deal with this location to write this, that how frustrated I am write now. A bunch of time that I have to take off work just to put through a spin cycle of awful communication from front desk. I'm still shocked what I just felt with an hour ago on this. HOW DO I GET TOLD I CAN DO THE EXAM ANYTIME TODYA AND TAKE THE TIME OFF TO DO IT AND TOLD I CAN. DOES FROMT DESK NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR PEOPLE. Just beyond the worse experience of all time I have to deal with that I am forced to laugh at

After a 3 hour visit I was told by Dominica that 2 pairs of glasses would be 500.00. Since I called and updated my insurance the day before I figured they had it on file when I tried to clarify if it was with insurance I later found out Dominica did not have my insurance on file and did a non disclosure at all of other services she added without my knowledge or consent while trying to add more upgrades and charges I did decline. Three hours later I just requested a refund from the assistant manager who was trying to again give me a price with and without insurance. I advised the assistant manager that whether I save 20 cents, or 20 dollars, that I, like most people, prefer to use insurance they have. Instead of trying to defend shady practices she could've offered to fix it. I also asked for an itemized statement but the assistant manager said she can't print it until an order is made- which explains why Domenica has such an easy time being clueless and shady. I'll be back to speak with Paula - the manager sometime next week and I can only hope she is more competent helpful and apologetic rather than blaming a consumer, taking off insurance when they feel like it, while I have to sit and wait for updated prices and sneaking in non disclosed upgrades, which is illegal.

Very Unprofessional!! The worst experience everrrrrr! Charlotte NC University Location Store #1162 I had an appointment for an eye exam. I walked into the store and there were 3 employees sitting helping customers. There was no one at the receptionist desk. No place to check in. No one to check me in. When I entered the store not one of the employees looked up to greet me or see how I could be helped. I stood around waiting to be acknowledge by someone. While waiting to be acknowledged, I decided that I may need get the attention of one of the employees that was helping someone else to find out what I needed to do Because I had an appointment for eye exam. Wow, while trying to get an employee's attention and standing around I get a notification text that my appointment was canceled. Once I finally get somebody's attention I was told that I could not be seen and the Dr that was to do my eye exam had gone to lunch because I was a no show. But I wasn't a No show. I was there. So I was not able to get my exam done. Terrible customer service and I will gladly take my business elsewhere. Please proceed with caution.

Visited the America's Best location off of JW Clay Blvd and had the worst experience. The optician Kierra Washington was rude and act like it was a bother to answer my questions. I actually felt like needed another eye exam and actually did schedule another one at another location. I didn't feel like the exam was thorough at all. I had to ask her if my prescription changed from the prior year. I do not recommend this location at all. I heard better things about their Northlake location and should have made my appointment there.

Got a call my glasses were ready for me and my child. Our car was stolen recently so we had to walk the 3 miles to get there to pick them up. Got there at 3pm on a Wednesday and they were already closed. Will not come back and would not recommend. Especially since hours advertised are 9am to 7pm.

The exam process was fine when the doctor finally arrived. I didn't have time to view and select eyeglasses on that day and decided to return a few days after but no one was available to assist. There were several employees there stating that the doctor needs to be present and no knew when he/she would be back. Totally unexpected and unacceptable.

This place is awful! I had an appointment today that I confirmed via phone call yesterday including my insurance info THAT THEY ASKED FOR. Today I was seen under the impression my insurance was going to cover my eye exam. Upon check in, I wasn't told I'd be paying $118 out of pocket. My exam resulted in a referral. Upon check out, I was asked for my insurance. I thought they had it on file since I was asked for it during confirming the appointment.. the man at check out ended up telling me America's Best doesn't take my insurance. I paid the $118 to get my RX and referral letter.. to find that Dr. Washington wrote in "insured" under Insurance Company. How can a professional refer someone without properly verifying the patient's insurance. I called the office for a refund; the associate who answered the phone wasn't helpful when I explained the situation and said I'd get a call back --refusing to take my email. America's Best is a joke.
