Community Eye Care

Clean , professional and busy eye care place. The nice thing, it is all over and the information is available. I found it a little bit higher price than others but over all they are offering a good and quality service and equipments.

Will not listen to instructions about your budget. I was explicit that I only wanted things that were covered under my vision insurance. Throughout my annual exam I declined all optional tests/treatments they presented that were outside my coverage; nonetheless, they snuck an expensive test in without telling me. Thinking they just made a mistake, I've called and explained this to them but they've 0 willingness to address. Really feels like a money grabbing operation now rather than the care they used to provide.

I have had CEC for years with no problems until this year. Every year my premium is automatically drafted out of my checking account and I do receive a letter a few months ahead reminding me that this will happen on Feb.1. I have never had to respond to these yearly reminders in anyway because there has been NO changes to my banking number. When I visited my eye doctor, I was informed that I was no longer in the CEC system. I checked my bank statements and nothing had been drafted out. When I called to check, I was told that "it would not go through." The numbers are still the same! So I was told maybe the cards expiration date had changed. Very possible (debit) SO why did CEC not contact me? And I would have given them a new expiration date. Very poor customer service because they would not reinstate me.

It was a very pleasant experience. Had an appointment at 2:10 and was back for my eye exam immediately. I had an exam for contacts and lenses. The training for contacts was done in about 5 minutes due to their very knowledgeable and experienced staff. I also got my glasses the same day. Would recommend to anyone. It was expensive but they made it very clear on what I was spending and getting.

Great Insurance! As a staff member for the provider side, I never have any issue trying to obtain member benefits. You always get a real person on the phone and they are so very nice with the upmost customer service. As a patient, they always explain everything well regarding their benefits. This company is just very nice, knowledgeable and offers great benefits!!

Unfortunately, Community Eye care is affiliated with my employer. I had returned a pair of contacts because my prescription had changed. I was never credited for the return contacts so after waiting and waiting I called them and ask the status. I was told that they would never know I had returned contacts and less I called them. They told me my account would be corrected and I could check on the website the next day for the adjustment. After several weeks go by I submit the repayment for my glasses and of course the credit still is not there so I only received a partial reimbursement. Two months later I called back the lady was very defensive with me (Vivian).. She would not give me a timeframe for a resolution and stated that there were multiple Departments involved and she would let me know as soon as possible.. she was quite rude to me on the phone because I was asking her questions about a resolution and the process. She was unwilling to give me any of that information. The situation has been going on since June and we are now in October. I am not happy with Community Eye care and will not re-enroll for next year!

I have community eye care through my work insurance. I am giving them two stars instead of one because they did cover my eye exam with no copay, which is nice. I will tell you why my review is so low. The eyeglasses that I wanted to buy were out of network. That is fine, I understand that insurance companies do that. I also need contact lenses, so I looked on the website to see if they have a contact lens provider that is in network before i bought. They do, so I planned to buy the contact lenses after I received reimbursement from the glasses (a process that takes two months). The website states that they will reimburse 60% of any out of network claim, up to 60% of the total allowance for glasses/contacts. That is all well and good, HOWEVER, what they do NOT state is that they will charge your allowance the entire amount (instead of the 60% that they are giving back to you) and you will not be able to use the remaining 40% for an in-network purchase. SO, if you are faced with the same situation, use any in-network purchases first and then use the remainder for out of network. That little mistake cost me $80.

Love working with CEC. So easy to add new employees and manage our accounts online. Also, every time I call for a question my customer service rep is always helpful and very friendly! Thanks for a great job!
