Albemarle Eye Center

I was very impressed with Dr Burns and his assistant, I have no complaints with them. They are both Very personable along with the front desk staff however I can not say that was the case with the actual side that is suppose to help you pick out glasses and order them. We followed directions and sat until called. We'll we weren't called they just asked if we could be helped. I answered with we would like to look at glasses and order some. Never asked name. I asked if she could show me the section that was covered under our insurance. She just points and walks away. I had more questions after looking went back towards the door that says employees only and they are laughing and gossiping. Stood there 5 mins. Another employee comes out walks around us and goes to a lil desk that has her phone in the drawer to grab it. I ask if she can answer some questions. She says sure. I ask them and we go back looking at what's available with insurance. At no point does any of that staff make eye contact with you, which is humorous in itself for an eye care center. They couldnt be bothered with the patients. Finally go back and show what we would like to order. Wait again for more gossiping in the back. I dunno best way to describe it is like we were being treated like a nuisance and bothering them just by being there. I scheduled an appt for myself as well when we first got there. Not sure I will keep it thats how much im disappointed with that side of the office. Id much rather go somewhere else even if I have to pay out of pocket because I have never experienced such lack of customer service while trying to order glasses in my life.

I was amazed at the scale of this practice. They had large waiting rooms, multiple technicians and 2 doctors working, so they were able to care for so many patients. I'm used to having to wait a year to see an eye doctor, but I only had to wait a few months here. I really appreciate the service they are providing for our community taking care of as many patients as possible because there is a shortage of eye doctors in our area. The staff were all kind and patient and did a wonderful job.

Great visit today! They were Very busy yesterday as they are shorthanded on doctors. There were six patients already waiting. I was 3rd in line at the desk but the receptionist greeted with a smile and was attentive to every patient, including myself. I waited about 15 to 20 minutes. I was seen by Emily, who was patient, reassuring and very knowledgeable.She took her time and listened to me and at the end of the exam, I was seeing 20/20 in both eyes for the first time in months. I wasn't rushed but encouraged to take my time when I wasn't sure which was the clearer lens. She was as excited as I was when I got it down to 20/20. Dr Burns then completed my exam (my eyes were dialated)and as always was very pleasant and thorough.

After a series of frustrating previous treatments at other locations, I was actively planning on switching doctors and clinics entirely. However, this clinic provided an incredible experience that convinced me to stay. I've been a patient here since it was located in Nags Head (before my long-time doctor retired), and my recent visit to the Elizabeth City office delivered the best service I've ever received. The entire staff was phenomenal, from the front desk (apologies for not getting her name) to the clinical staff. Austin was the star of the show! He was exceptionally friendly, kind, and truly an attentive listener. Similarly, Dr. Burns, though very busy, took ample time with us as patients and was equally attentive. The dedication and high quality of care shown by this team is a major relief.

Eva at the front desk was such a delight and made me feel so welcome for my first visit there. I really commend Austin on my refractive eye exam. He was very thorough and patient. And Dr. Burns was so very pleasant and efficient. All in all, it was an excellent visit at the Albemarle Eye Center in Elizabeth City North Carolina. I had to drive an hour and a half to go because there are no eye doctors at the Eye Center closer to me. Hoping that will change by the time I have to go again next year.

I really enjoyed my eye clinic appointment experience. The atmosphere was relaxing as well as professional. I hope to continue enjoying future appointments there.

The entire staff we met, from the front desk ambassador, testing technician, doctor, and onto the optician tech, made our visit great. They were detailed oriented, friendly, and fun.

Even though it took 3.5 hours to complete the process, I was impressed with their team's willingness to explain each step in the process and then answer any questions I asked. The 3 plus hours actually went by quickly!
