I've been seeing Dr. Matthew's for almost 4 years. He is the absolute BEST! When I first started seeing him, I wasn't sure if I was seeing the right doctor. I had gone so long without taking care of my health, I'm sure he could see that! He really explained to me the importance of my health. I had just had my leg amputated. And now my eye sight was on a very bad road for me! He explained how I could go back and fix it, but I could do better moving forward! He literally saved my eye sight! Thank you to Dr. Matthew's and his wonderful staff!

Dr. Matthews diagnosed me with diabetic retinopathy in December of 2012. I lost my job a month later because I could not perform tasks due to my eyesight. My father foot the bill for 4 months of laser treatment and eye injections. My last of 7 treatments, costing a total of $2,400 was on April 1 2013. I remember how the head nurse brandished the 3" needle in front of me while she squirted the excess from the syringe before they injected it in the soft tissue underneath right eyeball. When Matthews was finished performing the injection, he asked if they hurt me. Remarking that they had just done the same procedure on a little old lady just before me and it didn't bother her a bit. My followup was on July 1. The 2'nd week in June my wife was having back surgery and my stress level was extreme. Had a hrmmorage in my left eye which rendered me blind in what had been my good eye. I decided to wait for the followup. When I went back to Triad Retina on July 1st, I explained that I had suffered a hemmorage in my right eye and was now blind in that eye and it was not getting better, but I had no immediate funds, he laughed and said "We let's hope you get better." He offered no alternatives. My left eye took a year to heal. I felt I was ready to try and return to my 25 year career in commercial printing. I was at a dead end. My house had been foreclosed, death would have been a good option, but we had children ages of 4 and 8. I contacted Services for the Blind. They sent me to a different Opthamologist who resumed my laser treatments and I got a job. I had a severe panic within 6 months and which caused hemmoraging in my right eye. I was rendered legally blind by my new Opthamologist. He scheduled me for outpatient surgery 3 days later, on a Thursday. They gave me the same injection as Matthews. I never saw that needle which was for an anesthetic so they could replace all the hemmorage, blood filled fluid in my eye with clear fluid. The next day I went for a checkup, they removed my eyepatch and I could see an eye chart, pretty far down on the chart. I am indebted Services for the Blind and not Dr. Mathews. My advice is to not go there. Unless you want to be treated like unfortunate livestock.

Absolutely top notch surgeon. I needed to have eye surgery for a post op cataract procedure complication, it was a serious surgery but I was never afraid, I trusted him and his excellent assistant from the beginning. My eyesight is back to normal.

Dr. Matthews preformed laser surgery to reattach my retina. The surgery, while mildly discomforting, fixed my issue. Since this surgery, which was done around 2009, I have experienced no problems. I highly recommend Dr. Matthews.

The man literally listens to nothing! I have seen him a total of 4 times and the past time he was very rude and this current time he was equally as rude! I am a type 1 diabetic and have been since I was 2. He wanted to argue with me saying "I've told you over and over again and you don't listen". Which was confusing to me bc at that point I had only saw him 3 times and he had never said anything like this to me. Most recent visit it was "that's your problem! I suggest something and you say no!!". Both which was surprising to me! He had only saw me 3 times when the first comment was made. 4 times with the last commen and most importantly he had only suggested laser on my eye which I had allowed him to do. I had never said "no" to anything. I've been dealing with a horrible infection which has caused my sugars to be higher than normal.He wanted to say my sugars were "not under control". My A1c generally runs around 5.7. Recently it was 6.7. When I said this he said "well IF your A1C is 6.7 then your diabetes is under control". Like I was lying or something! He brushed me off like he did the last 3 times and decided to send me somewhere else and canceled any upcoming appointments with them. All I'm going to say is if you have diabetes, go to another doctor! He absolutely does not listen and personally I don't believe is capable of caring for someonem with Type 1 diabetes. Maybe Type 2 but definitely not Type 1 if he can't handle me and the only thing my diabetes has affected in the last 37 years is my eyes then, how is he going to handles type 1 diabetes that have more than their eyes giving trouble. I would not recommend at all.
