LOVE Dr. Spencer and the whole team and Koala Eye Centre! He took his time with my son and made him feel very comfortable to ask and answer questions. Dr. Spencer gave wonderful advice about eye patching for strength and surgically repaired (shorten/tightened) the eye muscles so my son's lazy eye with look straight again! We are continuing the eye patching as recommended post procedure with great results. 5 stars isn't high enough!
I absolutely love and am so grateful for Dr. Spencer! My son has been seeing him for 14 years starting when he was born with cataracts. Dr. Spencer did the surgeries and has been seeing him ever since. He is very patient with Aiden who is nonverbal and has developmental/cognitive impairments and is autistic-nonverbal. He takes his time to work with Aiden to get him to feel safe and comfortable with the anxiety of the exam. He asks how he is doing in other areas of his life like school. When you first meet Dr. Spencer, he can be quite and more reserved but thats ok, that doesnt mean he isnt a great physician and he takes great care of his patients. I trust him completely. You just have to get to know him! He is actually very funny, personable and kind. I'll keep seeing him until he tells me my son is too old lol! I appreciate his staff as well!
A huge thank you to Dr.Spencer at Koala Eye Centre. Dr.Spencer performed eye nerve surgery on my son, and the results are outstanding. He is an incredibly skilled, professional, and compassionate surgeon. We felt safe and well-informed throughout the entire process. Highly recommended for anyone seeking the best eye care!
LONG, HONEST REVIEW :
to start, i would like to say dr michael spencer is amazing and it's a shame to see people don't give him a chance just because he doesn't speak a lot. he is incredibly professional and gets straight to the point which i appreciate. he is a doctor and his job is to take care of you, not become your friend.
i have been struggling with double vision in both eyes and it got increasingly worse - he performed surgery on me November 26, 2025. he came to speak to me and my mom in the pre-op room and was so extremely reassuring, walked us through everything, and made sure we were comfortable.
i have super terrible anxiety and this was my first surgery + getting put under, him and his staff were PERFECT. there is absolutely nothing i would've changed or wanted done differently.
upon waking, he was still so reassuring, giving positive affirmations, and making sure i was fully comfortable. as soon as i showed the slightest amount of discomfort, he corrected it immediately. he spoke to my mother multiple times as well to reassure her when my surgery was completed. he called me the next day, ON THANKSGIVING, just to check up on me.
dr spencer, i cannot wait for my eyes to fully heal but i can't thank you enough for already changing my life.
Dr. Spencer is a good eye doctor, especially for more complex eye care needs with pediatric patients, as has been our experience. He performed strabismus surgery with a great outcome and monitored ongoing vision deficits.
His demeanor is more quiet and focused. Don't be put off because you aren't having small talk. He's a very knowledgeable physician whom I would entrust with the eye care of our children and he will clearly answer any questions.
Great place and very kid-friendly. My daughter went here from age 7 until she was 18 and has now aged out. My younger child, who is 6 years old is currently a patient and loves it. Dr. Spencer is an excellent eye doctor very caring, patient, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend
We had an excellent experience with Dr. Spencer. From the very first appointment he was calm, patient and thorough. He listened to my concerns, examined my baby thoroughly then explained everything in a way that made me feel informed. He validated me in my concerns and was able to diagnose him immediately with an epibulbar dermoid of the eye, kept a an eye on it then performed surgery to remove it. His confidence and kindness put me at ease during this stressful time.
Staff members were very helpful and pleasant. Doctor was on time and knowledgeable about my situation and how my medical problems affect my eyes. He is focused and attentive and has a pleasant sense of humor that reminds me of my son. He has been the only doctor who has been able to adjust and calculate my prescription so I can see to function independently, as I am legally blind without my glasses and get vertigo and headaches if the prescription is off even a fraction.
