Great staff who are professional and warm, knowledgeable and plain-speaking, thorough and prudent. I have confidence in their ability to examine my and my children's eyes. (I have not found their optician helpful, however. M seemed disinterested in guiding us or providing insight into the eyeglass options. Uncharacteristic of everyone else at the practice, so maybe she wasn't feeling well that day.)
We have been going to Vision Source (Although it was a different name back in the day), since we moved here years ago. We have always been happy with the service and care we have received. The office is always accommodating and very professional. The good news is they listen to you when you let them know what is or isn't happening with your eyes. In others they care about their patients. It doesn't matter which department you're working with in the office. Thank you for caring.
I called them about an emergency with my eye this Monday morning. It was red and irritated since Saturday. Dr Halton made time to see me this morning and prescribe me an antibiotic and steroid solution to make the irritation go away. It is already feeling better. Ive been going to Vision Source for about 5 years now. They are always great.
This will be my first and last time visiting this clinic for deceptive billing practices. Despite the billing issues, I will say that they seemed competent in the work itself.
When making the appt, I told them that I only wanted the base exam to give me my new prescription, nothing else. She argued with me that they have to do the complete exam. I refused the appointment saying I would go elsewhere, but then she said ok.
When I arrived, I got the same thing about the complete exam. I explained that the VA already did this for me this year as part of my diabetes check, and I only wanted the base exam as covered on my vision insurance with my provider. She said ok.
I went in the room, sat at his station as that station. At no time was I told this was not covered on the base exam, or what they were doing. The assistant did the actual eye test that seemed off, Dr Andrew came in and verified what she did and went through the eye health that I did not want.
Upon leaving, instead of being charged $10, I was charged $130. I needed the prescription because I lost my glasses, I had no choice. Getting home, my wife told me they did the same thing to her two weeks prior. Pictures show the billing, and even the discrepancies between her visit and mine.
They performed procedures I explicitly told them not to. I will be filing a complaint with UHC and hope to get them off of the preferred list that is where I found them.
Go at your own risk unless you don't mind paying whatever they want to charge you. The clinic is clean, and if I wanted all of that, they did seem competent.
*** Update - the office does read reviews and did the right thing that I appreciate, adding a star.

Subject: Excellent Customer Service
I wanted to take a moment to recognize Miriam for outstanding customer service she provided. She was patient, kind, and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. She handled everything with the patience of Job and made sure I found the perfect pair of glasses.
Please make sure she knows how much her professionalism and care are appreciated -- she truly represents your company well!
Best regards,
Jami Patrick
(Her name maybe spelled wrong - my apologies)
Dr. Halton is wonderful. My daughter and I both come here and could not be happier. He really takes his time to listen to his patients and explains things very thoroughly.
I do not think I have ever experienced such rude and arrogant behavior from a professional space that is in business to serve patients. I called to set up an appointment with full coverage of vision insurance.
I provided my vision insurance and the receptionist advised that I am out of network. She did not attempt to clarify or look up my insurance, she was dismissive as if she did not have the time to waste.
I called back as per my app, this location is listed as in network, I called several times, no answer and I had to leave a voicemail. The same receptionist called with a disgusting and dismissive tone when she asked me " you are the one who had healthy blue?"
I advised her no that was not me and not my insurance. I advised her that my app is saying in network. She stated that the app can be wrong and asked for my insurance again.
After having to repeat myself several times because she kept saying the name wrong, she told me to call my insurance and ask what company is my insurance under?
I was confused because, with my children, husband and myself, I never had to call my insurance to find out this information for an eye exam.
I advised her to set up the appointment anyway as I will call to confirm that shortly. She then refused and said she could not set up the appointment without that information.
I have never been refused to set up an appointment for an IN NETWORK location. What is sad is that In confirmed with my insurance that this location is IN NETWORK and I should not have any issue with coverage.
However, Simply due to the rude, disrespectful and insensitive experience I had with the receptionist, I will not set up an appointment and will take this as a sign that there are other ophthalmologists that will not mind to book and appointment with someone who has insurance.
Any location that would employ someone so insensitive, is not somewhere I would like to receive care.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting and being examined by Dr. Andrew Halton, OD. Dr. Halton was very thorough in the consultation by asking me several questions about my condition. He had a professional, friendly, and efficient bedside manner. He made me feel valued and heard as a patient. It was a pleasure meeting Dr Halton today.
