I scheduled a last minute appointment to update my contact lens exam with Visionworks and I can't recommend them enough! From the first point of contact until check-out, every employee was very welcoming and efficient. I also came early to my appointment and they were able to get me started right then. I couldn't have wished for an easier and quicker experience. Thank you to the whole team as it was my first virtual eye exam experience!
The service was fast because I pretty much knew what I wanted to do. The only thing I question is the price I pay. The price is never the same and I have great insurance. I should only be paying a copay bc everything is covered but I always end up paying something. Plus each time it's for different things which doesn't sound right .
Vision Works on Gate City is the BEST in helping meet my needs in Eyewear. Kind and Courteous staff, especially Wendy who assisted me.
Located at Visionworks Plaza on the corner of Holden/West Gate - you can book online or calling their AI system. Just be aware that you'll need to finalize your information if you're trying to use insurance.
The process can be swift with a VSP, Davis, Spectera (United Heathcare), and especially if you have a pre-loaded card to spend. But, if you're out-of-network, with an insurance like Humana (EyeMed) - things get tricky. Because the staff will tell you verifying insurance takes so long they'll have to reschedule the appointment. Just tell 'em "speak to a representative" and make 'em earn your business. You CAN keep your scheduled appointment same day.
Some of the other reviews mention that staff was less pleasant to certain demographics... this is the world today. Economics allow some of the potential patients to receive disservice, but they become ghosts and there's no data to track the people turned away because someone didn't want to verify insurance or break away to dedicate time to their visit.
Ask about the line item prices: Standard Non-Glare ($110) is the same quality as Elite Non-Glare ($145), the difference is some water and scratch resistance. Insurance co-pays from Tier 1 up-to 2 will double; Upgrading progressives from Standard to Premium can add $75-$175, but they have a simulator where you can see the difference in performance. Remember line items add up at the end...
There is a big difference in getting Poly or Hi-Index lenses. The pricing can change $20-250, but for people with difficulty this can be money well spent. Be aware tho- don't get caught in slick language... Poly is scratch resistant and thinner than plain/plastic lenses. Hi-Index is a premium feature that runs $445 for Single Vision or $675 for Progressive. Insurance can help, but has steep co-pays for these choices... So what can help?
Deals - 2 plain single vision frames for $59 or progressive for $99; 50% off any eyeglass frame or lens+frame purchase, and 60% off any frame or complete lens+frame purchase (up to 2 pairs). These coupons are mailed out, so make sure your address is correct, they also come via email so add it in when booking. These coupons are also, in store at times - so ask.
My personal visit was Telehealth (this is a virtual IN Office visit, not an actual remote visit like the word implies) - never had any issues with prescription. Still not a fan of the progressive lenses. Just a personal experience. I prefer glasses for reading only. Staff is usually pretty good about fixing frames that are out-of-balance, replacing nose pads, and re-attaching arms that are only missing a screw. Broken arms and such - there's replacement parts on Amazon for $10 or less. For all other issues - buy the $39 warranty. Its 13months long and will get you to the next eye exam for updated glasses next year.
Great selection of frames. Were very helpful and patient as I tried on lots of them to find the perfect match. Janice and the store manager (don't remember his name) suggested frames I had not considered when I looked over the stock and I actually chose one I overlooked. Check out was easy and I really appreciate how Janice made the whole process simple.
Vision works is out of my network but it's worth paying a little extra money. I'll pay for great quality. I love their selection of eye wear.
The blonde at the front desk needs to have more respect. Being disrespectful over a miss understanding is absolutely ridiculous. If you hate your job just say that. She deserves to be fired. I had my kids with me and she is yelling WHO at me like who booked my appointment. I hope her managers really think about who they have up front helping people.
I was visiting my mom in Greensboro for a few days and realized I needed to renew my vision prescription. I checked the Visionworks app and was able to book a same day appointment that afternoon. The process was quick, easy, and convenient.
When I arrived, I found a clean, professional, and welcoming environment. The entire team was kind, efficient, and respectful of my time. The optometrist was thorough and clear, taking time to explain the changes in my prescription without rushing.
After the exam, I went into the retail area and was greeted by helpful, no pressure staff who made the frame selection process smooth and stress free. I was out in less than an hour, and my new glasses were ready just three days later.
This was one of the best vision care experiences I have ever had. If I lived in Greensboro, this would be my regular spot. Highly recommended.
