I went about three weeks ago for my eye exam and finally got my glasses and contacts today. My eye exam was fantastic, and the people who helped me pick glasses were also amazing. What was not amazing was the wait time and the front desk ladies. When I checked in, I told the woman (I don't know her name) that I had switched jobs and the insurance on file was not the same. She tried to tell me it was, when I knew I had a different one. She ran and used my old insurance and came over to me claiming it was the same, and her tone came off like I was stupid. Then I had to wait a good bit for my eye exam. If I didn't need my yearly eye exam, I would have walked out and scheduled for another eye doctor.

When I first entered MyEyeDr and spoke with the receptionist she was rude, curt and did not listen as I tried to get my insurance updated. Once she heard me, she gave me attitude about sending my insurance card via email, even though I haven't had this issue anywhere else including other MyEyeDr locations. My experience turned around with the young man who helped with my tests, I didn't catch his name (he was wearing a mask and tall) but he was very kind. I would also like to share that my experience with Carolina was wonderful. She was personable, funny and able to help me understand what I was purchasing. Thank you to Carolina and to the young man. They both turned my experience around for the better!

I had my first visit yesterday I had a great experience from the first phone call to the time I left the appointment. They got me in the same day I called. The General Manager who got me checked in was super helpful and Friendly, The medical assistant and Dr were friendly knowledgeable and helpful and the young woman who helped me order contacts and find glasses was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning!

I initially had my office visit on 12/12/25. At this appointment, the woman who waiting on me at the front desk, Christy, was extremely rude. She acted like I should have known that my appointment would take 2 hours because it was a VIS appointment. I was never made aware of this, and I had been to this location before, had this same type of appointment, and never had to wait for 2 hours. She also made me feel like I was inconveniencing her because my last name, phone number, and insurance had changed since the last time I had been in to the office, and that seemed like too much for her. I ended up cancelling that appointment and rescheduling to 12/26/25 because I could not wait any longer (I had waited 30 minutes to be called back for the pre-exam and then had been taken back out to the lobby and had been waiting for 45 mins to be called back for the actual exam), and again, I was not aware that the appointment would take 2hrs. On 12/26/25, Christy waited on me again. She again was very rude and acted like I was inconveniencing her because I came into the office. At the end of the visit, when I was ordering my glasses, I was told that it would take a week and a half to two weeks to receive my prescription. At this time, I also requested for my prescription to be transferred to another office closer to me as I would be picking it up during my lunch break and, on a good day, I work 15 mins away from the Stantonsburg location (I had initially chosen this office because, again, I had been here before.) I was told that this could be done no problem. I had previously done this too due to work. I got a notification on 01/07/26 that my prescription was ready. I took time out of my lunch to go pick up my prescription, only to sit there for 30 minutes and then wind up being told that my prescription was not ready, and that the transfer could not be done. The best explanation the office manager could come up with was that they notified the wrong patient, even though I showed him the email with my invoice number that matched the invoice number that was notified. I was told that it should be in within the next couple of days, so I went back on Friday, 1/9/26 to pick it up (again, after getting a notification that it was ready). They still were not ready. I got another notification on 01/14/26 that my prescription was ready. I called the office and spoke to Christy, who, again, made me feel like I inconvenienced her by calling the office. She explained that since no one from the office had personally called me, it wasn't ready. I explained to her that I just got a call from a 919 number, and that I didn't know whether that was an employee or corporate, and that the office number was left as the callback number, so I didn't know. I checked my portal today (01/21/26), and it shows that my order was cancelled on 1/14/26 and re-submitted, and that now my glasses won't be here until AT THE EARLIEST 1/30/26. This is NOT something I was aware of them doing. I have now been waiting for going on 4 weeks without new glasses with poor customer service each time I inquire about my prescription. At this point, it was easier to order a pair of medicated sunglasses through the website Pair for less than half the cost then it has been to get a pair of glasses that I paid $200+ OOP for.

The experience at MyEyeDr was absolutely HORRIBLE from beginning to end. I walked in and both receptionists completely ignored me. No greeting. No acknowledgment. No "we'll be with you shortly." Nothing. When I spoke up, the receptionist said she "didn't know I walked in." That's not acceptable. Being aware of customers entering your business is basic customer service. When I got to the exam area, the assistant notified me that reception briefed her that I was the "girlfriend" of my teenage son. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. She was nice, but made sure to question whether I was the legal guardian. This felt less like policy and more like an attempt to find a reason to deny service. After the exam, I let the optical associate know I wouldn't be purchasing glasses there but would need my son's PD. I could visibly see the disappointment. I was told there is a $15 charge to release a PD. While I've never encountered that before, I agreed to pay it. Then I was told my card declined -- which it did not -- and suddenly a waiver appeared from the back that I was expected to sign in order to receive my own son's PD. That felt completely retaliatory because I chose not to purchase their frames. I refused! There was also hesitation about having the doctor physically sign the prescription, which is required when ordering from online retailers like EYECONIC. That should not be an issue. Overall, the experience felt unwelcoming, defensive, and transactional. It seems they are used to customers accepting poor service without question. I'm sure I was labeled "difficult" for simply advocating for myself and my child but professionalism and transparency should not be too much to expect. S/N: not all of their offices are like this, this is my first bad experience with this company and I've been to many of their locations. I will be contacting corporate to validate this miscellaneous charge for my sons PD is a valid charge being that no other office charges this. Good luck! Update: The manager of this location called and apologized on behalf of this facility. He confirmed that this was not a valid charge and refunded all of my expenses.

I had an appointment scheduled for 8am. An appointment that did not happen! I went to check in and the gentleman at the desk (who later told me that he was in charge) couldn't seem to locate my insurance information. After thirty minutes compiled of him checking on his end and me on the phone with my insurance provider; one of the other receptionist locates my information only after she asks me for my address. A week prior to my appointment I'd ordered my son's contacts from 1800Contacts. They in return reached out to My EyeDr to verify my son's prescription. Thai resulted in My EyeDr updating his address as well as mine (which they had no right to do). I hadn't given them permission to update either of our addresses. I do understand why they woo do this on my son's account since I gave permission for 1800Contacts to contact them in reference to my son. But NO ONE had permission to change my address. When the receptionist informed me and the gentleman assisting me that the issue was that he had changed my address; he immediately became defensive stating he didn't do anything. However if you're the manager or the one in charge, shouldn't this have been a question that you asked (is your address still the same or has it changed). After thirty minutes of unnecessary delay he tells me that he can reschedule my appointment for later in the day. How unprofessional! Why should I be inconvenienced any further for a situation I didn't cause? He has caused me to take mine and my son's future eye care somewhere else! I am so appalled at this lack of professionalism.

The eye exam was great but whoever helped me buy my frames was not transparent at all about the cost. All I wanted was blue light added (and even then I felt railroaded into it) but there were many extra charges I did not ask for. Like extra polishing. I would just clean my glasses, I don't need to pay an extra 50 dollars for polishing.

My eye exam itself went well, and I want to specifically mention Leland, who was incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. My glasses were broken when I came in, and he took the time to see if he could fix them and genuinely made me feel cared for. Sam, who conducted my eye test, was also professional and thorough. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn at checkout when I was working with John. I was considering purchasing glasses but mentioned I wanted to wait a couple of days before paying. I was told that doing so would "hurt us," which felt inappropriate and pressuring. While waiting (due to computer delays), casual conversation became uncomfortable when I was repeatedly told I should "pray" about being hungry and later told that joking about being greedy was "evil." Religious commentary and judgmental remarks felt out of place in a medical setting and made me very uncomfortable. When I mentioned that I usually buy glasses elsewhere for affordability, the response was simply "yikes," which felt dismissive. I came in planning to support the business because of how positive my experience was with Leland, but I ultimately chose to just pay for my exam and leave. I hope management addresses professionalism and boundaries at checkout, because the clinical care itself was good.
