I chose Dr. Singleton to perform my Cataract surgery because he was so highly recommended by previous patients and doctors. I met with him and was pleased with the thorough exam and explanation of options I had to correct my deteriorating vision. Dr. Singleton explained in detail what I could expect to gain in vision through each option that was offered. He wanted me to be completely satisfied and also to make sure I understood each step of the entire process. I chose to have the Vivity Lenses implanted in both eyes, and I'm glad I did. The 1st surgery was performed on my right eye on June 6th 2025, and then my left one was done on June 11th 2025 there were also subsequent post operative exams and follow ups to ensure optimal results . I had my final visit on December 23rd, and I am completely satisfied with the results! I give "Kudos" to Dr. Singleton and his entire team for their patience, kindness, and professionalism, throughout this journey to improved eyesight! Thank you everyone, and God Bless you!

I am only 2 days into my first cataract surgery and the results are absolutely amazing....I so excited to go back for the other eye to be done ....the clarity and focus after only 2 days is just more then I expected....Dr Singleton was professional but at the same time just a normal person to talk with. He guided me through the best fit for my specific needs....I respect that aspect with those in the medical field...and his staff were so pleasant and professional....I never once felt neglected, lost in the shuffle or just another patient that needs pushed through the system....everything they told me to expect was spot on but then again I did everything they told me to do....Highly Recommend Dr Singleton and His Staff...5 Stars in my book...

Dr singleton did not test my eyes at all to make sure the cataract surgery would be effective on me. He had NO suggestion either. The optometrist in Morehead City whose office is by the Walmart main entrance, did not either. He just wrote a quick referral to Singleton, telling him to replace my lenses un both eyes. He did nothing to make sure it would work on me. Dr singleton was unpleasant. She was short with us. He obviously was too busy making money. He told me to call his office a few days before the surgery was scheduled to confirm which eye i wanted done first. When I did on 2 occasions, his scheduler got upset telling me not to call and that she would contact me the day before. She did call me the day before the first surgery after 4pm. I told her I wanted my right eye done first to be able to see better far away. Then I could figure out if I needed the second one. When I went to his surgery center, the place was full of patients aligned in chairs on both walls. It looked like a factory. He ran in and marked the wrong eye with a cross once I had been given an iv. Did not even say Hello. He ran out like the place was on fire. I told the nurse that the wrong eye had been marked. She told me to tell the surgeon in call. Once I was rolled into the operating room I was given medication through the iv as I complained that the wrong eye had been marked. That young doctor was joking around with the nurse, not paying attention or taking his job seriously at any time. I asked him what kind of lense he was gonna replace mine with. He said the one ro see betterclose. I told him i could see close and that i wanted the lense put in first that would help me see far since i was short sighted in both eyes. He said that he did not have that lense. I asked him to send someone to the main office located about a mile away to get one. He said he could not do it. How was that surgery going to help me? I could see perfectly close. Why would i want a lense that help me see close???. I was just a little short sighted. He said that i had been scheduled for surgery in the other eye in another week anyway and that I would be able to see better in the long run. So he went ahead and changed a lense which really should never have been changed. A week later they replaced the other lense which worked out OK but with no improvement in my eyesight. The problem is that I have not been able to see well at all through the eye that was done first against my wishes. So I went back to another ophthalmologists than Walmart 's. They scheduled me for second cataract surgery. It turned out that as I had already been medicated and the young surgeon was ready to work into my eye when the senior doctor ran un and told him to stop. That office is in havelock and dr. Banks is in charge. he said that my eye was so scarred over from the cataract surgery that should he proceed, I would be completely blind in that eye. So i was sent home. I resumed going back to see Dr. Banks that I started seeing after the other ophtalmotogist by Walmart gave me an irresponsible referral. I saw him about 3 weeks ago as I had reached almost complete blindness in that left eye that had been done so irresponsibly. I can see through it but the blurriness is quite extreme. So Dr. Banks who is very nice and responsible, suggested laser surgery to repair that horrible job that was gone so lightly at Singleton's. I am on my way to getting the laser surgery now. If it fails, my only resort will be to take him to court.

The absolutely worse medical office experience. My mother is 82, and was referred here for cataract surgery. She has only been to an eye doctor twice in her entire life. And just recently at 82 started going to a doctor. So needless to say the experience can be overwhelming and makes her nervous. Scared to have the surgery and understand what all it intells. I take care of her, she lives with me and I'm her medical power of attorney, I drive her and go to all her doctor appointments. We had some problems with them finding her health insurance verification and Medicare and the staff at the front office was very nice and helpful. This did take a little longer for her to check in. After her three eye test. The young lady started going over paperwork for her to sign. Talking about multiple types of lens she could have in the surgery. And holding each paper to sign before going over what lens her test say she needs or even going over what cataract surgery is. She was telling her about how many drops post surgery she will need and my mother stopped and asked how much each type of lens options she was talking about were and if she needed them all and why what did each lens do? What did her insurance cover? The young lady was having her sign papers to agree to pay for lens that she said the doctor might say she doesn't need and some are options. That at the next appt we would go over cost and see the doctor to go over what she will need. This did not make since to my mother and she was panicking over the girl not knowing cost of the things she was having her sign she went over and understood she would be responsible for. I just let her know she was overwhelming my mother and she would be happy to sign papers after she went over everything and answered her questions. She called in the insurance lady to answer my others questions better and she felt better and we left. I just received a call from the practice manager Amanda saying for us to return she needed to have a talk with my mother about her visit. That her staff was very competent and the young lady felt overwhelmed to answer the questions my mother was asking and she told me she has been a practice manager in the business for over 20 years since she was 18, and she is a nurse and the appointment should have taken only 30 mins and it took an hour or and hour and a half. That never happens for them and her staff got together and had some concerns about my mother's visit and her young representative was upset and she is very competent. Her tone was not' I want to make sure all your questions are answered and that your mother feels comfortable how can I help? She was rude and acting like she was attacking us and that my mother had questions and said that usually when a person is sent to them they know they need surgery and just sign the papers and have never had someone ask so many questions or have so many problems or make there staff not feel competent in their role. As I listened and was confused as what level of customer service did she think in this call she was giving us. I do not recommend someone with an elderly person that may need help understanding the cost or what the surgery options are and the process to go here. As I was trying to get off the phone with her I said I don't think your a good fit for my mother at this time. She loudly raised her voice with an attitude and said we will not be helping you! find another practice and with a sassy rude voice said good bye! And hung up on me! Wow great customer service for an elderly lady that took longer than normal and asked too many questions about what your staff reviews and recommends. We never got to have the pleasure to even talk to or meet the Dr so I can't speak about him. The gatekeepers were rude and unprofessional!

My experience with Dr. Jay Singleton and all of his staff was excellent. My wife preceded me with her cataract surgery at Dr. Singleton's and she constantly commented how clear, concise and informative he was. Before my surgery, my wife and I had actually moved to California and away from eastern shore of North Carolina. There are many eye surgeons out here in California but for me there was only one choice. I flew back to NC , Dr. Singleton removed the cataracts, did the corrective the surgery and I flew home. It is now six months after surgery and I have 20/20 vision and I couldn't be happier.
