Glasses Only Lasted 8 Months Won't Ever Purchase from America's Best Again I bought glasses from America's Best at the end of December of 2024. By August 2025, I noticed that my cheeks were breaking out where my glasses touched my face. I checked the bottom of the frame and parts of it had rubbed off (see attached pictures). So, I had to start wearing my older glasses that I have had for over a year that I purchased from LensCrafters. I took the glasses back to America's Best and the manager condescendedly told me that what I had was a nickel allergy and that I should put fingernail polish on the bottom of the lenses and that there was nothing that they can do because it had been "too long" since I purchased these glasses. Like most people, I have insurance that covers glasses once a year only. So, these glasses became unusable months before the year mark, when I can actually even get new glasses! How does that make any sense?! I've had the older glasses that I had to start wearing again for over 2 years. And, these glasses show no signs of rubbing off. Also, I've worn glasses since I was 10 years old and I have never had lenses that rubbed off in this way that caused my face to break out. We cannot allow poor service and lack of product quality like this to become normal. I would expect that a company that gives a damn about their customers and the products that they sell: 1) Would have offered me a discount or some way of compensating me for the fact that these glasses lasted less than a year, caused my face to break out, and cannot be replaced with my insurance for another 3 months, 2) Would have noted that this particular frame does not last for even a year and would have made sure that it was no longer sold anymore, or 3) Would have had some type of indication on the frame label itself that it contains nickel and could cause an allergy for customers. There was no offer or attempt by the manager of this store to stand behind the product that they sold me or to offer good customer service. Attached are up close photos of the frame and a comparison photo of the frame that I've had for over 2 years that has no signs of wear on the underside of the frame.

I normally don't go out of my way to write reviews, but after seeing a negative one I felt like I should share my experience because it was completely different. I've lived in the Stow area for over 30 years and I work in healthcare myself as a nurse. When I go to the eye doctor, I'm going because they're trained to handle the science and the clinical side of things. I'm there to trust the professional doing the exam, and during my visit with Dr. Ali I truly felt like I was in good hands. Doctors are seeing a lot of patients every day, sometimes 40 or 50, and I think it's important that we as patients also come in with a little patience and understanding. It's literally in the word. Despite how busy things can be, Dr. Ali took my concerns seriously. I came in with blurry vision and those concerns were addressed. She made sure I understood what was going on and even recommended further testing through a referral to make sure everything is fully evaluated. I'll be honest, working in healthcare myself, trust in the system can feel a bit tumultuous at times. But Dr. Ali really hit the nail on the head. She was professional, thoughtful, and made sure I felt taken care of. The staff at the Cuyahoga Falls location were also wonderful and made the entire visit smooth. Great teams don't always get the recognition they deserve online, so I just wanted to give credit where it's due. Based on my experience, they're doing a great job.

Though the staff overall was great, the doctor was immediately dismissive of me when I asked about potential vision issues I'd not asked about previously, believing these things to be normal. I disclosed my autism to her, letting her know there were issues I've always had but never brought up to an eye doctor because I didn't have context for what was "normal". Every point I brought up, I was told is normal, including the blinding pain I experience behind my eyes every single day when I step out of the house, regardless of how cloudy it is. Though I want to believe her, the shift in her demeanor was blatant and belittling. I have a masters degree. I spent over a decade working in research. Where I first learned of a topic doesn't have a thing to do with the hours I spent looking deeper into said topic or the methodology I used when looking into the topic using peer reviewed materials from a variety of sources. I'm especially disappointed because I exclusively choose women doctors (when possible) due to our intimate understanding of how it feels to be gaslit by medical providers. Again, the content of what she said to me *might be* true; I can't trust that it is because of how she chose to convey the information. I'm disappointed I chose to purchase a new pair of glasses here as well, as - again - I don't really trust that the exam was thorough or addressed the concerns I came in with. I'm giving three stars because the rest of the staff was nice and the basics of the exam were technically effective. I believe the glasses I ordered will be fine, just like every other pair I've owned over the last three decades. I'm highly disappointed by my experience with the doctor though and hope she'll take the time to listen to where patients are coming from rather than being immediately dismissive and condescending to someone who's simply asking questions in an attempt to advocate for themselves.

Honestly the level of unprofessionalism by the staff is just next level which is a shame because my kids love the actual eye doctor there. She is really patient and works so well with my kids. But yeah the first time we went we definitely had a better experience it was during the week. So if you go definitely go then. I will say the woman who took us to the pre testing room obviously had no idea what she was doing and started to baby my kid when I said she was on the spectrum. But the customer service on a Saturday when we're literally the only customers there was so gross. They treated us like we weren't even there, like sorry to impede on your hang out time. But I just dropped a hundred dollars maybe do your job and not just chit chat the entire time we are there. It was so rude and so unprofessional.

The new employees are atrocious! The lady tried to tell me I couldn't buy my contacts. Claimed last time I was in was in May 25...ok...and? My prescription is good for a year. Wouldn't let me buy them. I didn't want to deal with it and left and sat there thinking no she's absolutely wrong and went back in. I HAD TO TELL HER HOW TO DO HER JOB!!! and all she says was "sorry I must have missed that" HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE IS SHE DOING THIS TO? HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE IS SHE FALSELY TELLING THEY NEED EXAMS AND DONT. SHES TRYING TO SCAN PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY BECAUSE SHE CANT OPEN HER EYES AND READ A SCREEN PROPERLY. Never again. Absolutely done with this location which is sad because it was my favorite.

I'm really disappointed with America's Best. My contact lens prescription is still valid for a full year, but when I called to simply switch my contact brand, they refused to help me at all. It made no sense and felt like they didn't even try to offer a solution. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to change a brand when my prescription hasn't expired. The lack of customer service and flexibility was honestly frustrating. I won't be returning EVER! I don't recommend going to a place where the doctor only sees you virtually.
