Modern Heritage Eye Care

We took our 2 year old to another doctor's office and it was a nightmare. They were not able to get a good exam done and we left being told we'd have to try again. My friend mentioned this place when we were around the corner getting coffee and we walked over and I made an appointment for the next day with Dr. Hohman. I completed the paperwork before going in and when we got there they saw her quickly and were very understanding of her toddler behaviors. The doctor was very playful with her, found her favorite show to watch when checking her eyes, and was so patient when she didn't want to sit still. She was great at telling me what would help and explained what she needed to see so I could help as well. The half an hour we waited for her eyes to dilate were spent in the lobby where they put a show on for her, gave her a sucker, and a couple toys to play with. They talked and smiled at her and were very understanding when she'd run or touch something. Even at the end when our daughter was fighting it and just over it she was SO patient and kind to her and not once got upset that she was being uncooperative and kept telling me how great she is doing and how well the appointment is going. It was really encouraging for me and I will 100% bring her back when she needs another exam. We are paying out of pocket and requesting reimbursement but I'd pay out of pocket for the exams just due to how they treated her and the patience they all had.

We discovered Dr. Shasteen when my daughter needed vision therapy a few years ago. My daughter absolutely loved therapy with Dr. Shasteen, so when we discovered she had branched out we knew this is where we wanted to be. For our family personally she has gone above and beyond service and five stars isn't enough. If you have small children or you're an adult this is where you want to be trust me. The waiting room has a TV with movies for children and even a little play desk area. Adults enjoy a friendly staff and a wide variety of magazines!

While Dr. Shasteen is good with kids and is thorough in her examination, our family is constantly rescheduled, our information lost and it's difficult to get anyone to answer the phone. This practice is alarmingly unorganized.

Dr. Shasteen has taken great care to achieve the best outcome for my son. I'm so grateful she has been willing to go the distance with us to help restore his vision. I appreciate how every little improvement matters to her and that she keeps his future in mind. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Our experience is always a positive one.

We LOVE Dr. Shasteen and her staff!! I've had 2 of my daughters need eye therapy, each with a different issue. And both times their issue was corrected with eye therapy! My youngest daughter struggled to read because her eyes only had 50% range of motion. (Nothing you could tell by looking at her!). Reading was hard, tiresome and her eyes would hurt. But at age 8, she had no idea that wasn't normal! It was only after a regular eye exam check up that this issue was discovered. Since therapy, my daughter says, "I can read better, my eyes don't hurt or get tired anymore!" It's been TOTALLY worth it! And we just had our 1 year check up and all is good! Praise God!

I have been extremely impressed with our level of care at Modern Heritage Eye Care. I have two young children that require extra attention with their eye site. I have seen dramatic improvements with both children, and Dr. Shasteen always answers my questions thoroughly. I highly recommend Modern Heritage Eye Care!

Dr. Shasteen is incredibly kind and easy to talk to. My sons both had eye infections and I didn't know what to do for them. She was very professional and handled all my concerns with understanding and quickly formulated a plan to treat their eye infections. She is AWESOME! Very happy with the service I received. Follow-up: Dr. Shasteen discovered what no other eye doctor had realized, which is that I had an eye condition where my eyes did not converge. This made it so I got frequent headaches, had issues reading, and was very clumsy. She did additional testing that no other eye doctor had ever performed on me and quickly found the issue AND had the appropriate therapy to treat it. After several months of therapy, my eyesight dramatically improved and I am no longer clumsy (even my husband, who used to refer to me as a "duck", noticed a drastic change as I have been able to catch things, etc.), I do not get headaches driving anymore, and my reading endurance is much higher. I am so pleased with my treatment and the long term success I have had! I would HEARTILY recommend the vision therapy. The therapy methods were convenient for me as an adult and are accessible for kids & adults alike. If I could give her 10 stars, I would.

Fabulous disposition, and very attentive to detail! I love Dr. Shasteen for myself, but even more for my two young kiddos! They've been patients of hers since they were infants. Overall great doctor and office staff!
