Dr. Hanes is an excellent optometrist and an exceptional listener. I have been coming here for years and he is always very engaged and thorough. This last checkup he listened to my feedback about my contacts and provided lenses that are more comfortable. Whenever I have had questions or concerns about vision or eye health he provides very specific information in a kind manner. This is a 5 star vision center and would be reflected so if we could rate the reviewers on this platform.
I had a really good experience with the optometrist, he put me in a new contact prescription for first time in 20 years. Tried a couple and came to a really good result. Daughter went too. We ordered glasses and contacts, happy with quality and cost. Same glasses for a lot less than at the national chain I last took my daughter to.
The service I received was great. I did not see the optometrist, but with the prescription I got at my own doctors, I went here and bought glasses. The glasses I got are high quality. The lens are high quality, and I am really happy to finally be able to see clearly in years. They were pretty good priced too, and they took my insurance so I barely paid out of pocket.
There was only 1 lady at the optical area when I went to pickup, but she was so nice, despite having several people in line waiting and depending on her for help.
I could see why a lot of people upset, its hard to get helped because the ratio of people to employees are really uneven, but when they do help/get to you, they do great :)
From what I saw a lot of people who were inpatient/tired of waiting got backlash from the employees.... which I understand the employees shouldn't have an attitude, but I completely understand why they would be upset, because these people are not being understanding of them...
My costco prescription eye glasses were far below the quality compared to the ones I got at the doctor's offices.
The lenses scratched a short time after I got them. I went back and explained it to the woman at the optical counter. She insisted that I have dropped them somewhere and that's why the lenses were scratched. I couldn't convince her that I never dropped them. I showed her the glasses case in my purse and told her that I've been very caring with my glasses. Always putting it in a case in my purse. Her response was that you must have scratched your lenses taking your glasses in and out of your case. All together, you get what you pay for plus the bad treatment from the woman employee there.
I never had this problem with my glasses from other places.
My daughters glasses broke. Obviously a manufacturer's defect. The optical department did fix them. However the woman that helped us seemed far more interested in blaming my daughter and asking her repeatedly what she did to her glasses to break them. The woman who did the repair said that the repair was as good as they could do. I questioned that at the time and did not think it would last. The repair lasted about a week and her glasses litterally fall apart this time. When I called and explained the situation to the Costco Optical department and said her glasses really needed replaced up the warranty they told me that they would not consider that a manufacturer's defect and would not replace them under warranty. We are talking about extremely cheap metal that bends with daily use, it's obviously a manufacturer's defect. We took her glasses to another optical store (NOT A COSTCO) They were able to repair them correctly at no cost. They are several other places who offers warranties for everything except theft or lose. I would never recommend Costco Optical based on this experience.
Optics department was fine and helpful. The Optometrist was not. I could not see with the prescription he was issuing. I insisted that my vision be tested with an older prescription from my Opthamologist that was on file with optics. The audible sigh and unwillingness to check was upsetting. He relented and renewed my old prescription. I also have no Idea how my insurance was billed but he insisted it was done correctly. I paid my copay and left.
This place is ridiculous. I just bought two pairs of glasses for myself here and was in the process of buying glasses for three other family members. People assume Costco will be cheap for glasses, though I've read that they come in slightly high in national surveys. Regardless, we were trying to buy glasses through insurance and did not care about that. We selected a pair of glasses for my son, but, as we were placing our order, we were surprised to notice that his prescription had changed in a significant way (bifocals to single vision) and opted to confirm with the prescriber that this was deliberate before proceeding. I asked the counter person to go ahead and measure his pupillary distance so we could finalize the order after speaking to the doctor without bringing him back to the store, and she refused, saying that she is prohibited from doing this unless someone is placing an order. I'm sure this stems from some sort of paranoia that people will get their pupillary distance and then order something online, but 1) she knew we had been about to place the order, 2) people who want to order online can get such measurements other ways, and 3) WHO CARES? If a loyal Costco customer wants a pupillary distance measured for some purpose other than ordering from them, how do they think it helps their business to permanently alienate the customer by refusing to do something that takes a few seconds and costs them nothing? There are four of us in the family who wear glasses, so this encounter alone just cost them the sale of 4+ pairs of glasses per year for many years to come (we had been buying exclusively from them for years). Like many Costco customers, I have spent thousands per year in their store, only to be reminded that they care not the slightest about anything other than maximizing their own profits. At least a pretense of old-fashioned customer service would be nice.
I tried to buy a new pair of glasses today at costo, I currently wear glasses I bought from there. They told me I needed to renew my my prescription, and then they gave me a card to schedule an appointment with their optometrist.I hand carried my script to them 2 years ago.No one gave me a copy of my script when I was In the store today, I called later to get a copy So i could an renew my prescription, the receptionist said she couldn't email it to me or read the script off to me...even though she already verified my identity and would. Only fax my RX to an existing eye doctor. I'm only trying to spend my money there!! I can get an online eye exam TODAY to get a new RX but only if i have the old one. She was not cooperative and wasn't concerned with helping me find a solution. So I guess I won't be buying my glasses there after all.
