My family and I have gone here for over 20 years but we will never be back. Upon arrival we were told the cost would be $20 - fine, no issue. AFTER the exam, we ask for the prescription with the PD to purchase glasses elsewhere. We were told we would be charged an additional fee for the PD, and if we did not buy glasses from them, we would have to pay $228 (80% of the cost of the exam per our insurance) this day as they would not mail a bill. We ended up purchasing glasses as it was cheaper than paying $228 but then received the invoice stating the cost of the exam was $195...80% of $195 is $156, not the $228 we were told we'd have to pay. $228 is 80% of $285. My son goes to another local eye doctor and we've never had this experience. They've always given us the prescription including the PD. This information should've been communicated prior to the appointment. Don't waste your time coming here, they value money more than customer service.

Poor customer service! I called to see if my replacement lenses were in. They were never ordered. Of course I was upset and aggravated. The girl had the nerve to hang up on me. When I called back no one answered because my number came up. So I called from my husbands phone and magically they answered. Supposedly they are being ordered. I asked if my husbands frames were in. Supposedly they just came in this morning that's why he didn't receive a text message. Do not waste your time coming here. The same thing happened to my daughter six months ago with her frames. There are many other places to find to go to. This place does not deserve any business.

Absolutely the worst in patient care from doctor to technicians to manager.
They sent my sister's prescription in (3 times). We finally went to another professional who said the prescription submitted did not take into consideration astigmatism . Therefore, it did not matter how many tines the glasses were sent back, they would never have been correct.
AND they refused to release her benefits so they could be used elsewhere.
Incompetence and arrogance at its best.
Don't bother to respond for there is nothing you can say to explain away this dilemma.
I hope this is a warning for others.

We had an exceptionally good experience with this practice! We were able to schedule an appointment quickly. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. Dr Zigulis and the assistant working with us went above and beyond to find a test that would satisfy the requirements for an uncommon form my son needed to have completed. We are so grateful for the patience and extraordinary care we received!

Very dissapointed. Went there for years, but something has changed in how they manage thier patients and run thier business. After trying to order my contacts before the end of the year I found out they did not bill my appointment properly and it prevented me from using my benefits for the year. They came up with several excuses to blame the error on me, including I was a first time patient and I made the wrong type of appointment....but when I stated neither was correct, they confirmed both these excuses were actually not true. After that didnt work, they trying to blame it on me saying I should have checked to make sure the proper notes made it into my file and I was billed properly (how is a patient supposed to do that?)...they finally admitted the mistake was fully on thier end but would not correct the issue. Thier only solution was to make another appointment and pay fully out of pocket or wait until after the new year once my benefits reset (either way I am out of money due to the mistake). So I did make a new appointment, but not with Family Eye Care Centers. People make mistakes, but the unwillingness to correct the issue is bad business.

Took my son for an appointment only to find out when I arrived that they cancelled. They had called the day before and confirmed the appointment. I took this as the appointment was still a go. I got there 15 minutes early and they canceled our appointment ! They said I was supposed to call them back and confirm as well??? Then they claim they can't find insurance for my son and suddenly I remember.... This has happened ever year for the last 3 years! They tried to get me to pay cash last year claiming they " couldn't find him on our insurance "
This is now the third time this has happened. I AM DONE with this "business". I have half a mind to call the BBB on them as this is unprofessional, unfair, and unethical. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I recommend to avoid this "business" as they clearly do not want your business.

Responded to a text to confirm my appointment, only to come in for my appointment to find out it had been canceled because I didn't call to confirm. I said I responded to the text THEY sent, and the extremely rude secretary said oh, that wasn't her that sent it, it was their system. They have help tickets in to get it sorted out. I get that - but how is that my problem?? Maybe they should've communicated that to all of their patients until they got it sorted out. Beyond ridiculous. Plus, their best eye doctor is no longer at the Sandusky location. I found another eye doctor.
