MyEyeDr and the former Brixton Eye Clinic are 2 very different places. You have 2 fantastic doctors who still give incredibly comprehensive eye exams with nothing lacking, but the feel of the rest of the office is no longer the same. Gone is the homey feel of the front desk, technicians and opticians I've known for years. While I understand things change as time marches on, it's like once MyEyeDr took over, everything became standardized and extremely different. They took a wonderful practice and made it a shell of itself, which is sad to see. I've been a faithful patient for over 20 years, and I will always highly recommend both Dr. Gittins and Dr. Sparks, who haven't changed their ways in the face of the practice changing, but I am not a fan of the rest of the practice and how it is handled.
Been a patient for several years. Was time to order contacts and the price for a 6-month supply under the new ownership increased dramatically! When I questioned the increase and what I had typically paid I was told "Brixton Eye Clinic" no longer sets the price. When I said that does not seem right to me and maybe I needed to shop around they responded "that's fine". Went online same day and saved $130 for the same 6 month supply of contacts. I love Dr Haley Sparks (no complaints at all!) but I will find another doctor so I do not have to deal with the front office arrogance.
Genuinely surprised to see as many negative reviews as they've gotten lately. I'm a fairly new patient here, but I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Dr. Sparks is wonderful, and their customer service has been nothing short of top tier throughout my entire experience. Nobody was able to get me a contact prescription that actually suited my needs until I came here, and they were exceptional from start to finish throughout several visits. Again, I cannot give high enough praises to them and their staff.
I walked in nervous because a lot of places don't have seating for plus sized curves. As soon as my foot step I was greeted by the receptionist with blonde frosted hair. Very polite and assured me that the beautiful oversized paisley chairs or family sofa and farm house bench could hold my weight. The farm house bench was my chose , I didn't wait long until Mr. Caleb, was my next encounter. Very professional, pleasant as he helped to get me ready to see one of the Doctors. I was fortunate to get Mrs. Sparks, hoping that's her name. Very Efficient, fast and detailed with flare southern charm. Picking out my glasses was just as fun. Their was no judgment the lady that helped also had an armless chair waiting for my curves to be seated. I tried on eight pairs of glasses and she didn't rush me nor complain. She too had an western glam and was down to earth. Great job Brixton Eye Clinic I felt like family!!!!
Please read the newest reviews for this place to judge for yourself. The 4.8 star rating does not reflect their CURRENT service. It's completely bonkers. I've been going here for several years and I've ALWAYS had top tier service. Since they've partnered with this My Eye Doctor company, their service has gone completely haywire!!! This is not a review of the doctors and their eye asisstants themselves but the staff servicing the front desk, helping you pick out glasses, billing, scheduling, and insurance.
First off, I think the old staff has been replaced by staff from the new company. They do not interact and handle patients like the older staff do. I've basically been shamed for not being able to afford glasses or having insurance. When I went to make an appointment, I told them I didnt have insurance (I pay fully out of pocket) and they hung up on me! I called them back insisting I make an appointment because I'm an established patient and I've been seeing the same eye doctor for several years. After several minutes on the phone, I THOUGHT I made an appointment. Then a few weeks later when I arrived for the time and date I thought my appointment was, I was told it was never made!! There were no appointments made in my name. The person on the phone literally treated me like a waste of time and didn't bother making my appointment because I had no insurance, which is insane. The new staff definitely discriminate lower income patients here. Older staff have always given me grace and understanding with my situation.
Once I got to my appointment, the staff kept pushing me to buy buy buy even when I told them I buy my glasses online for the cheap prices. The young lady at the front basically sneered at me and gave me this long, judging stare then tried to make me pay as quick as possible to shoo me out of the clinic. She didn't even try to explain my charges to me like older staff do. I can't even comprehend how the new staff has been trained (if they've been trained at all).
I hope Brixton eye clinic drops their partnership with the new company because I will not be returning. If not, I hope the doctors leave this clinic and move elsewhere. This treatment by their new staff is inexcusable.
Dr Haley is AMAZING. The kindness, compassion, and respect she showed my mother with dementia through the whole process was the best of any Healthcare professional I have EVER seen. A true professional. Can't say enough good things about her.
I went to Dr Giddens for 20+ years but the first time I visited after they sold to Dr Eye, the place has gone completely downhill. Had to wait for an hour because they appear to overbooking so I walked. Decided to give them one more chance but again they proved to be more interested a money grab than customer service. I will NEVER return and encourage others not waste their time or money.
I've been going here since I was a kid and used to take my kids before they got bought out by MyEyeDr. The quality has gone completely down. Their new staff just isn't up to par with their old staff. I bought a pair of eyeglasses here and they immediately got scratched. I've never had this happen before. The lenses from Brixton used to be super durable. My kids would get glasses from here and throw theirs around but they never got a single scratch!!! I bought mine recently and they accidentally got scratched when one of my kids picked them up for me. These lenses are NOT the same quality I'm used to.
The new staff also make really rude comments too. Someone asked me if I wanted to get an extra pair as backup and I told them I usually get my backup pair online cause they're cheaper. The staff made a super snide remark that it completely froze me. I'm used to super nice staff that go above and beyond to explain the costs of glasses, contacts, and how to get them cheaper if I can't afford them. I really miss those days.
Fast forward a few weeks and I'm trying to make an appointment for my kids. I always double check if Brixton takes their insurance. Instead of checking, the person I spoke to on the phone just immediately replied, "We take EVERY insurance." We made an appointment and I took my kids in. Lo and behold, they don't accept my kids' insurance YET. My kids missed half a school day and I wasted 40 minutes of gas because the front desk person just assumed everything was set and in place. It really saddens me to say this, but I will not be returning to Brixton eye clinic unless they cancel their contract with MyEyeDr.
