I've been going to Dr. Hicks for several years. I completely trust him and value his professional opinion. He's never given me advice that I felt was anything but honest, sincere and very professional. He's a great optometrist .

Dr. Hicks is the only optometrist I've seen who has gotten my difficult prescription right. He is very patient, thorough, and skilled. I live 30 miles away but will take the time to drive to his office because it's so worth it to get an excellent prescription.

This is my first bad review for a business, but I don't feel like Dr. Hicks has the best interest for his patients and only looks out for himself and I do not recommend him at all. I have been a patient here for several years and when I decided to get Lasik, the staff and Dr. Hicks acted very unprofessionally. They never faxed my records to my ophthalmologist in order to get lasik and kept advising me not to get the surgery even though the ophthalmologist told me I am a likely candidate for it. They also suggested that I go to Njoy for lasik, which I'm sure they get some compensation for referring patients over to (even though they advised me earlier NOT to get lasik). I finally had to go over to their office and get the faxes personally and I noticed that they had advertisement brochures for Njoy which explains why Dr. Hicks kept recommending them and would not fax my records over to Dean McGee. I also had some problems in the past with this office for denying me a certain contact lens brand and kept pushing me to use another brand. (By the way, it has been a month after my surgery, and I can see perfectly fine with no problems and I"m HAPPY to to say that I don't have to go back to Dr. Hicks at FYeye anymore)!

I've been a patient of Dr. Hicks for about 6 years. The first couple of years were great because his staff demonstrated a professional attitude. He appears to be a caring optometrist who has great interactions with his patients. All definitely a plus. Slowly over the years his staff has become more unprofessional and have pretty terrible attitudes even when calling to schedule an appointment. I always get fitted for contact lenses and get a glasses prescrption. I would say the decline in service started about 2 years ago when I went in for my routine check-up. I mentioned my contact lenses had been bothering me and asked if it would be possible to switch brands to see if that helped. He explained the brand he used was the best out there and that I should take a break from them to see if it would help. I know all medical professionals get paid to recommend certain brands but to put the wishes of the patients second to profit really bothered me. He recommended some eye drops and gave me a coupon for them, probably gets more kickbacks. A year later I went in because I could barely put my contacts in my eye without the eye turning red and having to remove them. He said it was probably allergies and recommended some more drops. I then went to see an opthalmologist(different from an optometrist) who gave me a prescription for some eye drops specifcally to treat dry eye and recommended some different vitamins to help with tear production. I still couldn't wear contacts but at least my eyes were not really dry anymore. I went in recently for my annual exam with Dr. Hicks. I still mentioned contacts were out of the question but that I would like to see where I am in case I decided to get them. He said that sometimes people realize it's not "worth it" to wear contacts. The glasses prescription he wrote me really changed a lot and it was the first time my eyes were so different from each other. This didn't feel quite right to me. After a couple of weeks, I called to order a trial pair of contacts. His staff member snapped at me and asked have you come in for a fitting? I said, I came in a couple of weeks back for an exam and she said, not an exam a fitting? I said no, and she said well it'll be $40 to rework your prescription and to do a fitting. So I said fine. A few days later my trial pair came in and the "fitting" was the staff member asking me to call them back if they felt fine. All of this seemed off to me so I went back to the opthalmologist who had helped with the dry eye issue. He did a glasses prescription and what do you know, my prescription was stronger than the last time but both eyes were the same. I know prescriptions can vary some (maybe on Monday I feel that 1 is clearer than 2 and on Tuesday I feel 2 is better than 1). He also had a trial pair available in his office and he said, ok, let's do a fitting. He had me put the trial pair in and do the eye exam with me wearing the pair. He looked to make sure the curvature of the lense fit my eye. He remarked these were probably a little more flat than what I needed but that it helped him choose the right measurement. He asked how they felt and they felt amazing. I wore them for a while and my eyes weren't turning red. It is an updated version of a brand specifically for people with astigmatism. He said if they didn't feel comfortable there were other brands we could try. This fitting was day and night from Dr. Hicks and his staff. I don't mean to bash anyone but felt the second doctor had my best interest in mind. Dr. Hicks is a nice man but I'm not sure he always tried to find the absolute best solution for the patient. It seems he tries to find the best solution within his means. His staff is really rude and shouldn't be working with the public.

Great people and accurate. My vision has never been better. He checked my vision the normal way (number one or number two sort of thing) then he used some machine that checked also and it matched up perfectly with what he already checked manually.
