J. Chris Hummel, M.D., M.P.H

Ive known Chris ever since I was a baby and I remain extremely close with his family. A couple months ago a cyst like protrusion appeared on my eyelid. I quickly called Dr. Hummel and he got me in immediately. His staff his extremely efficient and very respectful. They made my experience very enjoyable very time I walked through the door. Dr. Hummel did surgery on my eyelid and it healed COMPLETELY IN TWO DAYS. He made me comfortable during the surgery and talked to me throughout the operation. If you want to go to a very experienced and professional doctor then Chris Hummel is the man.

Dr. Hummel and his staff are very friendly, helpful, caring and extremely knowledgeable. I had some issues due to wearing gas permeable contacts which required numerous appointments until a correct measurement could be taken. I'm grateful that they weren't trying to hurry me through but took the extra effort to make sure I had a successful cataract surgery. From the moment I entered through the two procedures everyone has served me well, often making me feel like I was their only patient. I was never rushed, all my questions were answered, no pressure to go with more expensive lens (even though I did talk myself into those Panoptic lens and I'm so glad I did. I can see better than I have in 55 years and it is because of the expertise of Dr. Hummel and his staff. I have recommended Dr. Hummel to everyone I know and will continue to do so.

Everyone was so kind and helpful through all the testing until we saw Dr. Hummel. Perhaps he was having a bad day. They had us watch a video about cataract surgery and all the things that can go wrong. When we asked the doctor about those things like blindness, glaucoma, retinal detachment, etc. we evidently insulted him. He seemed very irritated with us for asking questions and suggested perhaps my husband didn't even need to be there. We were never told any results of the tests. We still paid our $45 co-pay but were very disappointed that all we received for our time and money was unprofessionalism from Dr. Hummel and now we have more questions than when we got there. Update: Cindy, the very nice office manager, called this morning to let us know that they would not be charging us for the visit nor would they bill our insurance and that Dr. Hummel would answer any questions we might have. We just asked that he send the results to my husband's regular eye doctor. Hopefully he will remember you only get one chance to make a good first impression.

No you didn't want to know what I think my eye is not going to be fixed he making me keep a lens in my eye that I didn't need or want
