The names of the doctors at this place are different from what's listed... Ken Roddy, O.D. and Hanni Hagen, O.D. The office visit for both the glasses and contacts was $99. The front desk woman told me on the phone that just for glasses it was $79, but then she told someone else who came in that it was $69. I saw a male doctor. I'm assuming this was Ken Roddy, although he never actually told me his name. He told me I don't have any astigmatism even though previous optometrists I've had told I do have a very slight astigmatism and when I brought this up he said, "Okay, but it's very slight." Okay...so I do then? He gave me a contacts trial, and then went to the back room to "wash his hands." Then he tried to put the contacts in my eyes himself (most optometrists will have you do it yourself so that you know how to do it at home). I allowed him to try once and he failed. So I said, "I think it would be better if I just did it myself." He insisted, "I can do this! I know how to do this! I am able to do this!" This was weird to me. Who are you trying to convince? Yourself? I replied, "Okay that's fine...but I would rather just do it myself." He tried to hand the contact to me from his finger. I didn't take it and said, "Um, I need to wash my hands." He said, "There's no sink back there for you to wash your hands." Okay??? Where did you wash YOUR hands then, mister? Every optometrist's office I've been to has a sink for you to wash your hands so you can apply your contacts. Like what do you mean you don't have a sink for me to wash my hands??? So I said, "Okay...well I guess I'll just put them in anyway." He said, "There's a mirror over there for you to use." I took the contact and put it in effortlessly on the first try without using the mirror. He just sat there silently. I told this man I've been wearing contacts for over 10 years, but he still tried to mansplain how to put them in (I get that he's a doctor and it's good they tell people this in case they don't know, but he clearly was not doing it as well as I could soooo....I'm fine calling him out on this one.) I also asked a few questions about how the eye works and changes over time, and about astigmatism. He gave me some extremely vague and general answers. I don't know if he just doesn't know that much, or he didn't feel like explaining it but it was weird and concerning. I'd like my doctor to be a bit more knowledgeable and be willing to explain things in detail when I ask questions. I'd also like my optometrist to have a sink to wash my hands before putting my contacts in....
