Burlington Eye Physicians and Surgeons

My mother has gone to see Dr. Singer for care and thinks he is great. However, that is the extent of our "good" experience with this place. The attitude and disrespect from the girl, Rose, at the front desk is beyond us. Absolutely awful. We were instructed by Dr. Singer himself at her last appointment to return to the clinic should the current treatment not work. When we call back today to book this appointment, the receptionist asked what the reason for appointment was to which we told her. She continued to ask the same question 3 more times b/c she didn't understand? and then DENIED care (which is illegal) because she didn't think it was a good enough reason for my mom to see the Doctor. She ultimately hung up. We tried calling back a second time and again, Rose hangs up on us. For a clinic to have such nice, professional Doctors, it's disappointing to have such awful staff working the front desk. Do better.

Respectfully, this place is not great. Firstly, despite the clientele largely being seniors with mobility aids, the waiting room is not at all disability friendly. The chairs are pushed so close together, there is no room to get by, with or without a walker or wheelchair. There is indeed a wait and the waiting room is packed like a hospital. Also the entrance is literally in a Starbucks drive thru ... so good luck dropping off grandma when you've got Karen honking at you because you're blocking her passage to a Venti Cold Brew. Secondly, the staff are just plain rude. I understand being behind, frustrated, but that's actually not a problem that the client needs to feel. People deserve adequate time to grasp what their treatment plan is, especially when it's regarding their eyes and vision. Nobody needs to feel like they're being rushed out the door. The doctors will upsell you on procedures. Don't be fooled, the OHIP covered options are fine. I don't know if this is a universal experience across the board with ophthalmologists, but I would not recommend this place.

Without Prejudice. Can't say anything in regards to Dr. Singer - never met the man. Phone system needs an overhaul or staff trained to answer a phone. Been on hold for over an hour to be hung up on as they close @ 4:30. WOW!!! what can I say!! You go from "Caller #5 - wait time 16 minutes to Caller #2 - wait time 20 minutes." What - it goes up in time. Not the way I do math. Had three phones going at the same time. Same thing. "You call is 1st in line - next representative will answer." "Thank you for your patience." My patience is running out! Hung up on. Great patient experience - not at all! The worst experience ever. Cancel the appointment. Hopefully you read the reviews to get more experience and knowledge.

I recently tried to book an urgent appointment at this clinic due to a red, painful eye following cataract and lens implantation surgery. Unfortunately, my experience with the reception staff was extremely disappointing. Instead of showing understanding or urgency, the receptionists kept giving me different excuses to avoid booking an appointment. They acted as if they were medical professionals, questioning my symptoms and suggesting what I "should do" instead of arranging for me to see the doctor. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional -- front desk staff should never try to make medical judgments or decide who deserves to see a doctor. I was left in pain and feeling dismissed, with no effort made to accommodate my urgent situation. The lack of empathy and professionalism from the reception team reflects poorly on the clinic and could discourage patients from seeking timely medical care. I strongly urge the clinic management and doctor to review how their reception team handles patient calls -- especially those reporting pain or post-surgery complications. Patients deserve respect, compassion, and a fair chance to be seen by the doctor

Dr. is fine. Some staff friendly, wait time is outrageous. If you can't do anything about the wait times then I highly recommend that when you call to remind people of their appointments that you include to BE PREPARED FOR A LONG WAIT so people can plan accordingly. Most importantly maybe a reminder to receptionists that we can hear them in the waiting area talking about patients confidential information and speak rudely about customers on the phone which I don't think is fare.

I had a great first experience at this clinic today. All the staff were very kind and I was brought in on time. Went through each test/exam and Dr. Singer came in to see me once the dilation eye drops were working. He was very kind and thorough. I let him know what a great experience I had with his office and staff and how impressed I was with the service and timing. I look forward to visiting them again next year for my check up.

I had recently had surgery on my nose and went here to get my eye looked at, as it had been scratched in surgery. The doctor hit me in the nose with the scope or whatever the metal device they use to look at eyes. And didn't even apologize. She looked at me as if I was doing something wrong because I pulled my head back. I've never seen such disregard for patients.

Doctor is great, reception staff is not. Be prepared to wait most of your day to see doctor for 5 minutes
