In giving constructive criticism one should always start with a compliment, give the feedback, then end with another compliment. I am unable to do this, unfortunately. This is not personal. I do not want anyone to go through what I am STILL going through with them...over 2 months later. It took nearly a month just to get my prescription. Then they billed my insurance incorrectly. It took 2 weeks or more to figure out how I was going to get that money back, because without it I cannot order contacts. They have followed through with ONE call back and that was because I had to express how frustrated I was with my experience; however, I'm still waiting on a call back that my refund will be ready (waiting 2 days now) and unfortunately don't expect to hear from them...I am pretty sure I will have to call them up, just to be told that the doctor hasn't signed the check yet.
Unfortunately, and I do mean that, I could write pages on how poorly I have been treated and cared for by this clinic. From the financial end that I just mentioned to the front reception that are 50% of the time congenial, to the doctor who simply doesn't have it together. I hope this is not how everyone is treated. But I find it of great importance to share mine, so that people can be wary before choosing this clinic.
While the doctor is very nice, don't expect a smooth financial experience. We're new here and my husband just needed an annual exam to make sure his prescription hadn't changed. A colleague told me this doctor's office would bill our insurance directly. Great. My husband had his exam, the doc said his prescription hadn't even changed enough to get new glasses, and that he had just the beginnings of cataracts. Then we get a bill in the mail for over $100. I called my insurance and was told that our insurance only covered annual exams, NOT MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS. WHAT?!?!? We asked the office to change the way they wrote this up and re-submit it to the insurance company, but no joy. We still got another bill in the mail for the same amount. We're honest people, so we paid it. Luckily, they returned our check to us in the mail and said our insurance paid. So frustrating! While I'm relieved it was finally handled and we got our money back, I don't see why we had to go through all that in the first place. This office knows full well how insurance works and should do more to take care of their patients, especially in an area as economically depressed as Lincoln County. Why send out a bill if the insurance might still pay? I don't like to leave negative reviews, but that was a lot of unnecessary aggravation and stress, not to mention all the time spent on the phone with the insurance company and doctor's office. We have insurance so that we don't have to deal with all this.
0.5 star. Half a star is only because I think Letherer is a good eye doctor. That being said, the support staff is inadequate to say the least.
My experiece: went in for exam, met with doctor, was happy with his service, recommended a prescription and contacts that work well. Equipment and frames outdated but I don't really care about that. Ordered my contacts, thank you and we will call once they are in.
3 weeks later: I called, hey are my contacts in?
"Not yet, we will call you"
6 weeks later: I called to check on my order.
"No they haven't made it in yet, but we have an order coming in at 1pm, we will call you"
No call, called back: "no they didn't come in this shipment, we will call you" . At this point I insisted they look into the matter.
Called back that afternoon: "looks like we placed the order and the contact company misplaced the order, but we put a rush order on your prescription, we will call you when they are in."
Two days later (had enough) went in to cancel, low and behold they had my prescription and had already billed insurence. At that time I asked for a written prescription for glasses (planning to take my business elsewhere).
"We will call you when it's ready"
2 weeks later I received a written prescription for contacts (which I already purchased through them) in the mail.
Today: I called after about 20 rings the doctor himself picks up, and I explained to him this was the third request I've put in for a prescription for glasses. He said he would look into it and call me back.
Call back #1: "your file says you already came in and picked up your written prescription" (never happened) but I have it right here for you, come puck up whenever you'd like.
Call back 2: "actually I'm going to have to have the doctor write a new one, we will call you when it's ready"
My Co worker is still dealing with a double billing issue after 6 months of working with this office.
They just can't seem to figure it out. Wish I had read reviews before going.
Seems I have had the same experience as others. The Dr. is a nice, knowledgeable man. I was VERY satisfied with his knowledge and expertise. However, NOTHING can make up for a bad office staff. I am shocked at how unorganized, unprofessional, uninterested they seem. In addition, the lack of competence with billing/scheduling/phone professionalism all contribute to this office suffering.
Dr. Lefner (Spelling wrong I believe) I believe is a good eye Dr. It's really sad that he's looking business because of office staff. Namely Tammie. A few years ago my husband and I was seen in Dr. Lerner's office. Which Our Insurance covers the eye exams. After, I received bullying. I called spoke with Tammie, she said it was billed wrong and would re-bill it. I received another billing for mine. I called, spoke with Tammie again. Again she said she'd re-bill it again!!! A few years later decided to make appointments and make sure both had been paid. Tammie claimed neither paid. While I was in office called I called Our Insurance companies. My paid. Hubbies Ins. never got Bill. While on with hubbies Ins. Tammie said both paid. She gave me receipts. I told her off. Now, I received notice Collection Company. Called Tammie today, she said she will call Collection and get removed. And have them send letter of removal! Tammie needs FIRED!!!!
The stress Tammie has caused. Is unreal!!! Time I've lost dealing with her INCOMPETENCE Should not be my problem!!! I won't go back there! Dr.Losing Business
Such nice staff. The doctor made my son feel very comfortable and had us laughing. They spent plenty of time with us making sure my son could properly use and care for his contacts.
I've enjoyed going here for several years now. The doctor is good, knowledgeable, and makes you feel comfortable. The staff have also been very good to me. I don't recall an unpleasant time.
Customer service is not a priority at all. These people seem to have forgotten who is paying who here. They are not the only eye center around.
