Dr. Marco Arandia, OD

So I went in to meet Dr. Marco Arandia OD today at the Eye Health Clinic on Northwest Northrop. I was so very pleased to have had the testing that I had done today. The nurse and the doctor we're so polite and well-mannered I was very pleased and I will wish anybody to go there as well as myself I'm going to have my glasses made from there thank you very much for letting me review and thank you Dr MarcoArandia.

Great appointment and very efficient. Got stuck in the waiting room for 30min however, so not sure what happened there. Been going to Eye Health for years and am always satisfied.

The three stars are for Dr Arandia - if it was a review for for Eye Health NW it would be zero stars for my experience this day. Like any American "healthcare" they will try and find a way to charge for everything. This is why, after they instituted a fee for getting contact lenses fitted, I stopped coming in for vision care (that and they are perpetually late at getting you in, even first thing in the morning). 5 years later and I have better vision coverage that will cover that fee, so I make an appt because it is close to my office and I need new contacts (not having seen anyone in the interim). So I call on 9/23 and the earliest I can get in is 11/20. Fine, appt set. I get the text reminder, I respond. I get there at 750 to do paperwork; done by 800 on the dot. And then I sit and wait. And wait. And wait. Until the lovely receptionist comes over at 835 and says that my appt was at 750. To which I reply, "not according to the text I received from you all yesterday." And if it was at 750, wouldn't she have mentioned that when I checked in? She asks how I set the appt - I say I called in, and that I also requested an ophthalmologist (because I've always seen one) but they would only let me see an optometrist. Then she asks if I need the contact lab and takes me over there while I'm noting the only reason I am there is to get new contacts, so how do I not have an appt at the contact lab? But they don't have my appointment. So she apologizes (not her fault - she was truly a delight) and says they will try and work me in - meaning work me into the vision appointment I set 2 months ago, that I have taken time off work to appear at, where I was on time, and now it is 40 minutes past when the appt was supposed to start and I have yet to be seen. The kicker? I had a dental appt the day before (11/19) to see if I needed a root canal and they could have taken me the next day (11/20) for the root canal, but I had this precious freaking eye appt that I waited two months for so I had to put the root canal off until their next available appt - 12/9. Not to mention that I ALSO have to come back for another appt at the contact lab because they couldn't "fit me in" (to the appt I set 2 months ago) when I was there. Dr. Arandia was fine enough, though I have *never* had tears flowing down my face as much as I had at this appt. It felt like torture because I eventually could hardly keep my eyes open for the amount of light he was shining in them. This was a first. All this to say - nothing has changed about their service in 5 years, and if the patient is late they will cancel and charge you, but if THEY screw up we bear the burden of missing work and having to take even MORE time off to remedy their failures and return for a second visit. The optician even flippantly said something along the lines of how these things happen, but that is really no excuse. Do you really think I can screw up a tax return, throw up my hands, and go "oh well, these things happen"? Isn't the scheduler's sole job to be accurate in their scheduling? If they can't do the simple things accurately, how can I trust them to diagnose my vision correctly? What other corners are they cutting? Once the contact lab appt is done I will never be back, and I suggest you take your business to a provider who does not see you as merely income and actually cares about their patients.

Dr. Arandia was very thorough, professional, and friendly. He answered all of my questions and asked many of his own to get a more complete picture of my symptoms. I definitely recommend him.
