EyeStyles + Care - Woodstock

I've had a lot of bad experiences with healthcare providers and navigating my insurance, especially with vision care. My experience here has been amazing, Charlene and all the staff are extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They do such a good job of understanding my insurance and explaining it to me.

I have been to this eye clinic before. Last year they told me they didn't take my insurance after my exam so I didn't get glasses. It's been a busy year so this year, not remembering which insurance they didn't take (I have 2 vision insurances, one through my work and one through my wife's work) I called them to check before the appointment. I was told they do take my insurance, and they apologized for the confusion the year prior. I was also told they would call me prior to the appointment if there was anything wrong with my insurance. When I get there, they don't even have my insurance listed. When I tried to get it added, I was given a 5 minute lecture on the difference between medical and vision. It was quite insulting. Once she realized I knew what I was talking about and I did, in fact, have two vision insurances, she said my personal one was a lesser copay of $5 instead of $10. I was also told I could use both insurances for the frames. So, I agreed and went forward with the exam. After the exam, they even went as far as printing both insurance coverages and comparing using a post-it note to help me decide which insurance to use. Because, actually, I could only use one insurance, not both like they had claimed an hour earlier. They were going to charge me $345 after insurance. I chose not to get glasses again and thought about my interaction. I shouldn't have had a co-pay on my insurance, and it was bugging me. So the next morning, I called my insurance company and spoke with them about my benefits. The customer service rep called Eyestyles regarding my $5 copay charge, and she was told by the front desk that they didn't use my insurance because it is out of network and they used my wife's insurance. Which would have been fine if it was what they told me. We spent at least 20 minutes just talking about insurance when I was there, and I was told they take my insurance and that we were using it. This place is crazy expensive, and dishonest when it comes to your co-pays and insurance. There are plenty of other places to go.

I slightly bent my 6+ year old frames and stopped in to EyeStyles in the hopes that they might be able to fix them. Within just a few minutes of coming in, I was already on my way with a fixed pair of glasses. Even though I didn't purchase the frames at their location, they were incredibly kind and helpful and didn't even charge me. Highly recommend!

I stopped in late Friday to have my glasses repaired (nose piece had fallen off). Tait fixed my glasses quickly and with a smile. I was delighted with the service, and there was no charge.

I called this company when I made my appointment to discuss insurance. They told me they accept both my vision insurances and they would call me back before my appointment if there were any concerns. So, I made the appointment. When I got there they only had me listed on my spouse's insurance. When I tried to explain I had two insurances I was given a 5 minute lecture on the difference of medical and vision insurance. It was quite insulting. She finally understood me and "found" my insurance and she said it was a cheaper co-pay and was only $5 (it should be free). So I chose to use my insurance. They even printed out a list of all my benefits so I could compare the two plans and what they covered. When I got home I did some research with my benefits and come to find out they do NOT take my insurance. Bit I called my member benefits anyway to see if they used my insurance as Out of Network, how else did they lower my co-pay by using my primary insurance? The insurance rep called them while I was on hold and was told they didn't use my insurance because I am out of Network and they used my spouse insurance. Which old be fine if it was the same thing they told me. This place is shady and extremely overpriced and dishonest. Go somewhere else.

I've been getting my eye exams, contacts and glasses from EyeStyles for the past couple years now. The service is always friendly, relaxed and meticulous, by professionals who clearly have both practical and aesthetic love of their craft. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I went to this clinic to simply get a normal, basic annual eye exam. I had a pleasant in-person experience, but was then very surprised to receive a bill for the full cost of this exam more than 6 months after the appointment. I had checked with my health insurance provider prior to the appointment to ensure they were in-network, and EyeStyles also didn't mention any concerns about my insurance coverage My insurance has claimed that EyeStyles used testing that was not needed ("Your doctor asked for Fundus Photography. There is no information that shows you have a condition that makes this test needed.") I would have declined this testing if I had any idea it would not be covered. There was no transparent communication from EyeStyles about this during the appointment or after (never indicating that I would be on the hook for the cost of the full exam because of this one test either) -- they mailed out a bill 6 months after this initial appointment, without any actual explanation or communication otherwise. I understand that nobody likes health insurance nuances, but ANY sort of actual communication from EyeStyles staff about this issue or the surprise $260 bill would have been appreciated. I will not be going back

This place has saved my behind not once, but twice by replacing some specialty nose pads for my glasses. Apparently, the brand I have is really unique and the pads aren't standard, so it's a panic when one breaks two days before I'm out of town for the holidays. Super nice folks, really accommodating, and a great selection of glasses too!
