Hawthorne Vision Center

My husband and I have been coming to Hawthorne vision for well over 10+ years now and have had nothing but great service from Dr Alan Love and the other staff. We always purchase our frames and lenses there as well. They back up all their products and lenses with outstanding service and if something is not right they will redo/replace or just a quick adjustment or cleaning if I happen to be walking by. I want to make mention of a recent visit I had to get new frames for an updated Rx. Jane, one of the dispensing opticians did an outstanding job helping me find a great new pair of frames. She listen to what I liked and started pulling out different styles from the draws (which I would have never thought to look) she helped me narrow down to a very pretty frame and advised that most frames /lenses can add the magnets that hold a sunglass clip (which is what I was looking for). She then did some adjustments on my old glasses, checked the Rx of a pair of readers I had done on line to make sure they were correct. I've had great customer service in the past, but Jane stood out to me this time.

I've been getting my glasses through Hawthorne Vision for 30 years. I have a complicated prescription and the Dr (and folks in the glasses area) have all been thorough and patient with me. I trust Hawthorne Vision with caring for my eyes...and having good vision is very important to me. I recommend them to anyone who needs glasses.

I have been a patient here for about ten years. The docs are great. The people that staff the glasses part are absolutely the best. I routinely sit on my glasses and they have fixed them every time without complaint. Cannot recommend enough.

Would not recommend. Starting Off as a $15 appointment. Verified twice. Came in during my appointment was than told it'd be an additional $60. I tried to stop the appointment repeatedly during the exam asking if I could just reschedule for another day. I was really uncomfortable with the burning in my eyes and the lack of communication about pricing before handthe fit and prescription of the contacts was very uncomfortable I cried twice. The dr even said my right eye looked extremely irritated. Went home with a prescription that made me feel severely off and burned my eyes every time I wore them. Called. They said to not wear them they would redue the contract perscription at the check in appointment vetoed that would be no cost. They said no cost. Got there today and reasked to verify again if the appointment was covered and they checked again saying and if I chose to go with the contacts that were wrong it's free but if I try out a new perception the checkin for those in two weeks would be another $60. When a patient says they're uncomfortable just stop the appointment and let them leave this was the worst experience I've ever had. I went to Americas best 3 days later in a panic and they examined and gave me A new perception in under 20 minutes, made me feel listened to and adjusted the script to my comfort. I literally had foggy vision in my left eye from the perception hawthorn gave me. I see crystal clear from Americas best and they didn't make me feel forced to stay and listened to me. I honestly just wanna cry again from thinking about the whole experience.

I've been coming here to Hawthorne Vision for at least a decade now. I was there this afternoon, feeling as always: seen as a real human; cared for throughout my journey of check in through to check out. I'm a medical biller and I can read the energy of a clinic. The folks here stay here because they enjoy a shared longevity, I believe. My personal continuity of care, and ease of being within walking distance all that time, has really come home to be meaningful to me. Hence why I'm writing this review! I'm on the cusp of a big month in South America and getting an eye exam and prescription sunglasses is part of my personal preparation. So grateful to everyone there! You've never steered me wrong in frames or other ocular guidance. Please keep up the good morale. I've always felt it and it's precious, especially for a clinic and vision center.

Dr. Uhlig is very considerate, and made me feel comfortable talking about my needs. This is the second time I've been there for a new prescription and new glasses. The first time was great; the second time was even better, since we were building off of the earlier foundation. The staff person who helped me pick out new frames was also thoughtful and seems to accept people for who they are and what they like (without pushing a certain style). Will definitely return.

I've had a great several years of experiences here. The doctors are kind and informative with what is going on with my eyes and what my needs are. The opticiansare experts at finding the most beautiful frames for your face. You'll look better than you knew you could. I had Mateo help for years. Now I only see Jane. Jane doesn't pressure you to buy the most expensive frames. But she does help you pick the best options. She even finds colors you'll like better, that they don't have out on the floor. She takes tons of time to help you. She's kind, she's helpful, she's honest, but even better she's well dressed, and has the best glasses herself. So you know she's going to help you find the absolute best option for you. So now I only go to her. To the point that I followed her to other locations and then back to Hawthorne Vision. I recommend this place to everyone I know. You will not find a better spot for glasses in Portland.
