OHSU Casey Eye Institute Clinic, Marquam Hill

I went seeking help for serious vision and safety concerns. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The staff were assumptive and dismissive, did not conduct a proper eye exam, and ignored the issues I clearly communicated. They refused to provide surgery and even accused me of seeking it for cosmetic purposes, despite the legitimate safety concerns I shared. It felt like the facility and management did not prioritize my health or safety, and their actions were unprofessional. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility. I hope they review their practices to ensure patients are heard and properly treated.

I have had an eye condition for months. first I had a rash around my eyes for months. since at least October. they thought it was just an allergy. next, in January my eye had micro burns. which they just labeled as small holes in my eyes that became a corneal ulcer. this past week my other eye developed a hole in my eye. I also tried to explain other symptoms, like my nose running at the same time as my eye after I used my eye drops, or the fact the antibiotics caused my eye to burn like it did with those drops. but, they decided my eye drops was an "irritant." I discovered all of it was connected as an allergy to the preservatives in my eye drops. what's more, the antibiotics they told me to take? yeah had the same preservatives in them. I was weeks if not days away from losing my vision from the Toxic Keratopathy. did you know your eye can "melt" cause I didn't!

My client's doctor is professional and thorough. She had me understanding the benefits and risks. Her team was great. I would recommend 100%.

My son was referred here from a Tacoma doctor after a traumatic retinal detachment via soccer. He's 11 so we were scared and flustered. From start to finish, everything was top notch. Dr Campbell and his entire staff were so reassuring and comforting and professional. The nurses in the OR and before hand in the prep made all of us feel so welcome and knowledgeable as to what surgery he was getting and what to expect after. Dr. Wilson was seen after surgery next day and he was so awesome too. Was there for a question after hours even. I feel so blessed we live so close to such an institute with Doctors as amazing as these. If anyone is visiting out of town like we were- and you're in Portland and have no idea where to stay - the Stay Pineapple-Rose is within ten minutes of the Institute and nearby the river front Like within walking distance. And this hotel also put us at such ease during a scary time for our family. They even left a custom note in the room hoping our son had a speedy recovery. I cannot thank every one of you guys involved in this enough. He's healing up and I'm so grateful. Anyone unsure about eye protection for kids soccer ... do it. I feel bad I wasn't aware of the risk.

I am not sure what the energy is coming from a Lindsey on the staff but it's seems she like to be presumptuous and allowe her personal biases influence how she interacts with patients. You can visibly see she was nervous when alone with patient s of color

I was referred here and I'm so thank I was!! When I was waiting for my I appointment I was getting Anxious so I started asking questions of how my appointment would go and the guy behind the counter was very kind and would answer my questions with a smile and and he calmed me down and I was so thankful! I have really bad panic attacks and I was great full I didn't have one there. Then my new Dr. Came out and I Followed him. My wait time for my doctor wasn't long at all! I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment and I only waited 10 mins. So I did the distance test I believe then I went back with the doctor to his area and we discussed my symptoms and we started testing and right away testing my eyes I had problems and I said I'm going to vomit and he jumped back quick And he said your case is the most complicated case I have come across in a long time I have to think about how I'm going to test you! I was very impressed how he didn't give up on me! And he discovered what was going on! He's caring! And kind! And I definitely recommend him to others who are struggling to find out what there dealing with too! Dr. Labrum is awesome!! And the guy in the front desk is Daniel who was patient who was cal.i g me down.

Did you know that when a patient is given time to be heard, respected and understood by a medical/mental/dental...provider the following happens? -improved accuracy, adherence and clinical outcomes. -decreased financial cost to all entities with reduced legal risk -increased satisfaction UNLIKE the popular conveyor belt/AI, cold care seen in franchises like Eye Health NW, Drs. Edmunds, Flaxel and Kennedy (also office manager Corinne is just a superstar) at the Casey Eye Institute know better. Not only are they highly intelligent; their compassion and understanding is evident because they actually walk their talk without interference from bureaucrats. Because they took an oath to me, not to them. I feel lucky because although my eye problem is complex and hard on me, I don't need to worry about fighting every step of the way to be taken seriously and access needed care. They actually care about this sick eye and the person attached to it. Sick patients shouldn't be made to fight with incompetence or gaslighting when they're medically compromised. With this team, you won't have to.

These people are worst then the people who I told when I was raped and worse then the people I told when I was being abused at home. None stop gaslighting, excuses on why they cant help and passing blame. It took 16 ER visits before they would finally see me and when they did they were only willing to do what they want and never cared about my feelings, emotions or level of pain. By far the worst doctors I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Try anywhere else if possible. Their social worker Tara is really great though, same with doctor Chambassi. Anyone else is horrific.
