I am a medical professional who has advocated for this clinic to provide gender affirming care for nearly two years now with no success. This clinic does not provide gender affirming care for patients. Here are some clinics in town that can offer gender affirming care: Blink Optical : exams start at $100 out of pocket Eyes on Broadway: exams start at $200 out of pocket South Waterfront Eyecare: exams start at $265 out of pocket Hawthorne Vision Center does not list their exam prices on their website and will not respond to phone calls or emails (in my lived experience), so you may need to stop into the clinic and ask about pricing in person if you are interested in establishing care. But if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally to the transgender community, I encourage you to go elsewhere. Blink and Eyes on Broadway are both owned by members of the LGBTQ+ community, so there's really no reason to patronize this clinic as an LGBTQ+ individual. Dr Uhlig and Nina, I wish you the best in learning gender affirming care practices for your clinic. Maybe one day you can treat gender diverse folks, but it is clearly beyond your capabilities as medical providers currently; a fact that is both sad and also entirely preventable. When you are ready, go ahead and reach out to the Marie Equi Center in PDX and (humbly) ask them how you can establish gender affirming care standards at Hawthorne Vision.
