Just an FYI. Unsure why people within the last yr or 2 have been reviewing Dr. Porter. He retired 2 yrs ago. It's now Dr. Yim. And she is great. No insurance taken still (as most Costco optometrists do. And honestly I've actually paid MORE with insurance at optometrists in the past. Dr. Yim has EXCELLENT 'bedside' manner, very caring & makes you feel comfortable. I feel she genuinely cares. Highly recommend. (And no, you do NOT need to be a Costco member for exam... Only to buy glasses/contacts)

Beyond the debate about whether or not your insurance works for his services, I found Dr. Porter to be a kind man, dedicated to his craft.
His equipment is modern. He answered every question I had about my eye health today and going forward, and I believe I received the most accurate prescription I've had to date.
I wouldn't hesitate to visit him for any future needs.
I get how things can add up when you need glasses, contacts, exams, etc. All things considered, his rates are extremely reasonable in the year 2023. I've done the strip mall 'get two pairs for xx dollars', and also had a major hospital examine my vision. IMHO, for routine eye needs, Dr. Porter is tops in 'bang for the buck'.
I'm sorry I didn't ask her name to credit here, but the gal who works in the front is a gem as well- very knowledgeable, and a total sweetheart.

I've been going to this doctor for 27 year . He keeps cost down for us folks that don't have insurance. If you do have it , your insurance will reimburse you back . Since the doctor has to have special staff to do the billing to build insurance that cost more and guys the cost of for everybody. Besides the insurance after he's a fantastic doctor very efficient and I've never had one issue ever in 27 years
