I'm not sure where all the negativity stems from, but over the years I've had nothing but positive experiences. I had an "eye emergency" and the woman who scheduled my appointment over the phone was super kind and helpful. She squeezed me in the next morning. When I arrived a half an hour late, and without my insurance card, I was still treated with a kind professionalism and they still got me in to see the doctor. Dr. Armstrong was also patient and knowledgeable. I've recommended this office to friends, and will continue to use them as my eye care provider.
- I was told to see an ophthalmologist after having an eye exam for glasses. I asked my contacts whom they recommended, and someone said their mother goes to Dr. Armstrong. I called Armstrong George Cohen Will Ophthalmology in Abington. The office lady refused to make a new patient appointment for me unless I provided a specific "referral," despite the fact that I already have my exam notes and excellent insurance. She said I needed to call LensCrafters to get that.
Turning away a new patient who has both a clinical need and excellent insurance is ridiculous. If this is how they handle a simple intake call, I'll be taking my business elsewhere to a practice that actually values new patients.
Unfortunately, my experience with the scheduling team at Armstrong Georger Cohen Will Ophthalmology involved very poor customer service. The staff I interacted with were rude and unprofessional, which left me feeling dismissed rather than supported. Customer service should match the level of care patients expect from a medical institution.
Took my 96-year-old grandmother here for her appointment. We arrived 10 minutes early.and was told that the machines were broken and they left a message yesterday evening. I I explained to the receptionist that the number they had on file was a landline phone, which was not equipped with a voicemail so there couldn't have been a message left. She then asked me if my grandmother was in a home or a facility. I responded to her "no she's right here" and she lives with family. She then condescendingly asked if she has a cell phone. I explained "no she does not. She is 96 years old". I asked if the machines would be repaired in the near future or should we reschedule her appointment? She stated "we don't have any appointments for months can't she just go to our other office? It's only 10 minutes away and do you have someone's number we can leave a voicemail on".
She was unapologetic, condescending and rude. This is not the way anyone should be greeted by any company representative especially not the receptionist or front desk staff. This was my second unpleasant encounter with this same staff member.
I mentioned it to another staff member the first time but after Reading other reviews this seems to be the culture in this office.
As much as it disappoints me to have to find another doctor for my grandmother, there's no way I would subject her to this a third time.
This review is NOT for the practice, but a specific doctor. Who is selfish, and NEGLECTFUL! I had been seen in the Hatboro office and had cataracts surgery scheduled in a few months. One day, my eye went crossed out of nowhere! I called Hatboro office, and they were booked so they made me an appointment at the Abington location, it was the day before a holiday. Geoffrey Kaplan was who my appointment was with. When I arrived, the front desk woman, came out and told me the doctor said to keep a patch on my eye until my surgery in a few months. He told her; to tell me, it would be a waste of my copay to be seen today. I was already there. He didn't even bother coming out to LOOK AT MY EYE! I waited the weekend, and my eye got more crossed. I went to the Hatboro office Monday as soon as they opened and my regular doctor, saw me, and he said, I think you had a STROKE! Get to the hospital. I went to the hospital, and here, I did have a STROKE! Dr. Kaplan should of came out and looked at me when I saw him prior. I could have had another BIG STROKE, yet he told me to just keep a patch on my eye for MONTHS until my surgery. This is unacceptable and I want to warn others about the neglect this doctor practices.
I'm sitting here in the back office waiting to see the doctor. And one of the eye techs comes over to the older gentleman sitting next to me while eating and proceeds to put drops in his eyes as she's chewing over him. Discussing is the best word for what I just witnessed.
I have been a patient there for a long time and have been treated by Dr. Will who is a very kind, caring and excellent physician. He will be leaving the practice soon and will be missed by so many. I am sure everyone wishes him the best.
I don't usually leave reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience here. The reception staff and contact lens department at this office are some of the rudest and most unprofessional people I've ever encountered in a medical setting. They're uncommunicative, dismissive, and seem completely uninterested in helping patients. I have to follow up with them multiple times just to get answers. I've been to plenty of doctors' offices, and I know busy schedules and bad days happen, but this isn't a one-off vibe -- it's a consistent culture of apathy and poor attitude. It's a shame, because the doctors here are great, but the rest of the staff make it feel like you are burden to them.
